Hero/ Villain au

1. They knew it was wrong, they knew they shouldn't like seeing the antagonist like this. A shell of themselves, fragile, held together by stitches. But oh they were so pliant like this. So scared of doing wrong and so desperately needing reassurance.

"I forgive you."

"It's going to be okay."

"You're not a monster."

The hero had never felt so addictively needed in their life, so redemptive, so powerful to have the villain breathless and overwhelmed with the smallest of kindnesses. They felt like god.

2. "Go on," the antagonist rasped. Their eyes were intent upon the protagonist's, their lips startlingly red with blood. Breath panting. "Finish it."

The protagonist's hand wavered, head spinning, adrenaline coursing nauseously through their body. Some distance away, their allies were starting to approach. The antagonist's expression softened. "Finish it." They reached up a hand to steady the protagonist on their weapon. "You'll be a hero, everyone will love you, the world will be yours for the taking. You've come so far and grown so much, you've fought so hard. You can do it. It's alright."

"You want to die?"

"Don't ask me that. I'd rather it be by your hand than theirs."

3. "I'm starting to think you're obsessed with me."

"In that outfit, who wouldn't be? You're just begging to be cuffed and brought to justice."

"Is that what we're calling justice these days?"

4. "So suspicious," the villain raised a brow. "Do you have any  roof for your accusations? Or is it simply that you like inventing reasons to come and see me, because, you know..." they settled a hand on the small of the hero's back to guide them out. "You don't have to come up with these absurd excuses. For you, it's always a pleasure."

"Fine. Dinner, just us," the hero's jaw clenched. "Maybe then you'll stop pretending you don't know what I'm talking about."

The villain's head tilted.

5. "What are you going to do?" the hero said. "Kidnap me and whisk me away to your evil lair. Wine and dine and try to seduce me to your side?" They trailed their hand along the villain's side and smiled.

The villain's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Do you really think I am so stupid as to carry any information on my person for your grasping little hands?"

The hero sighed. "There was to hoping." And they weren't talking about any keys or data packets.

6. "You think I don't see the way that you look at me?" the hero asked, pressing close to the villain. "All your games, all your dances...and all the time staring."

"Know thy enemy." They tried to sound cool.

"That's it, if you say so," the hero said, amused. Then they pressed a kiss, cruelly perhaps, to the villain's lips just to see them lose all composure.

7. "I want a vacation so bad, did you know that?" The villain remarked, all while pressing their hand hard against their bleeding wound.

The hero replied, "I do too." They were too afraid to help the villain. To even approach them. They kept their distance, as the villain struggled to stay upright.

"I propose..." the villain said through labored breaths. "That maybe we should both take one. After this whole... situation is over. Goddamnit, I'm so tired."

They collapsed.

8. Villain and Hero going round after round until Hero finally slips up and Villain gets the upper hand, pinning them hard against the wall. Hero's panting, bruised and bloody, eyes narrowed and defiant, daring Villain to do their worst. And Villain can't help but give in to impulse and kiss them.

Bonus: Hero freezes up, completely shocked, and does nothing to stop them.

Bonus bonus: Hero freezes for just a moment and then melts, kissing back.

Bonus bonus bonus: Hero kisses back with purpose and then uses the distraction as a chance to finally stun and capture Villain.

9. AU where the villain gets badly injured and loses their memory (temporarily) and the hero finds them and nurses them back to health. They regain their memory after like, a week and just keep it quiet because they are being treated so nicely for the first time in years and then the hero gets in trouble one day that they cant get away from and the villain just goes in guns blazing

10.  The villain is captured for (insert reason) by the hero. Flirting and adorable shit ensues

12. "You think you're doing this for them?" The villain laughed and tugged at their restraints. "Please." Their teeth bared, more a snarl than a smile, voice dripping saccharine venom. "We both know you just wanted me all to yourself. You think I haven't seen the way you look at me? I bet you just love this, seeing me like this."
"You'd prefer I kill you?" The hero struggled to keep their voice even in turn.. Their chest ached.
"I'd prefer you stop pretending this anything other than your own selfishness."

13. "You don't need to do this." Finally, the self assured expression had vanished from the villain's face at the weapon at their throat. It gave the hero no satisfaction. "I love you."
It was a lie, the hero knew it was a lie. A fun house mirror twisting up their own desires and giving them back as shiny as the executioner's axe - but god, it sounded so real. Genuine. A flawless act that didn't remotely change what they had to do. The hero's hand trembled. "Stop talking." They pressed the weapon in a little harder.
The villain flinched and it broke their heart just a little bit more.

14. "I care for you more than they ever did."
"Yes." The hero didn't deny it. What was the point of pretending, now, at the end of the things? So much had been wasted on bravado already. God, the time they'd wasted, foolishly...the hero's eyes prickled with the urge to cry "But the things you do..."
"I can be better."
"You've said that before."
"Don't kill me," the villain said. "It will shatter you."
"Then surrender." That was the one thing that, in everything, the villain had never been prepared to do.
The villain froze.

15. "You two make such a cute couple."
"We're not a couple," the villain snapped.
"Oh," the civilian said. "I never see you two apart."
"We just die being too far away from each other." The hero wrapped a viciously chummy arm around the villain. "Don't we, honey?"
"I've told you to stop calling me that - for god's sake!"
"This is all your fault, snookums."

16. "You don't really want to be stuck with me," the villain said, rattling the cuff attaching the two of them. "I'll make your life hell."
"You'll try," the hero said, not looking up. "But you're still not leaving my sight."
"Kinky. If you wanted to watch me you could have just ask-"
"-I have permission to knock you out if necessary."
"But then how would you benefit from my wit and wisdom in your oh so important case?"

17. "That's my cat," the hero said.

"No. It's mine," the villain retorted, eyes narrowed.

"...It's a stray."

"I feed it!"

"I feed it too! Oh, what now?" the villain waved their weapon around in frustration, "Are you gonna tell me that you have a name for it?"

"...Yes."

"Well, screw you, I have a name for it too.
