Part 2

We were walking the streets when the explosion occurred. Ezekiel sensed it moments before it went off and shoved me aside to protect me from the blast. 'Kylo!' He screamed in warning, giving me time to throw my arms up and shield my face from any flying debris.

I was knocked unconscious by the blast, but I was alive. Once my vision cleared, I pulled myself to my feet, groaning as my head began to spin. I turned slowly, surveying the damage. Bodies littered the ground and flames licked at what was left of the buildings. A gas explosion by the looks of it.

But... where was Ezekiel?

Fires warmed my skin and smoke filled my lungs, but I ignored the pain as I picked my way around the debris, searching for his face.

The Royal Guard was already there, escorting bodies from the scene on stretchers. I heard them murmuring between themselves that the king had just left the seen

Strange for him to show up.

I wiped the sweat off my face with the back of my hand. It came away bloody. I must have cut my face when I fell. Frowning, I scanned the faces of those being wheeled away. No sign of Ezekiel.

He might be alive.

Slowly, I walked further into the damage zone, my heart beating faster with every step.

Then I saw it.

A flicker of purple under a broken wall. I limp over to it, any hope I had left decreasing with each step.

I hoped I was mistaken.

But....

There was no mistaking the purple hair, aqua eyes and tanned skin that marked the body as Ezekiel.

He wasn't moving. He wasn't breathing.

I fell to my knees a few steps away, my body unable to stand any longer.

I reached towards him with trembling fingers.

Then I heard footsteps approaching and my hand was yanked away. Something slammed into the back of my skull and everything went black.

I awoke on the floor in the palace. My body ached and my head felt like it would explode. My hands were bound behind my back. I heard a dark laugh and looked up. It was the King.

Slowly, I pulled myself to my feet. The king was seated on his throne atop the golden dais. I shivered at the sight of him. A cruel light lit his golden eyes as he sneered down at me.

I lifted my chin and stared him straight in the eyes. I would not let him see my fear.

He wastes no time.

'Ezekiel is dead' he told me, a smirk upon his lips.

Tears burn my eyes as my hope was extinguished completely. I hadn't allowed myself to believe it. But deep down, I already knew.

'I will always stay with you.'

Ezekiel's words flash through my mind. I couldn't breathe. He was dead. The one person who ever understood me, who ever truly loved me, was gone.

My vision turned cloudy and a wave of nausea swept over me. I swayed on my feet before crumpling to the ground at the base of the dais. The king laughed.

'You started the explosion didn't you?' He said, idly picking at his nails. 'You were the only survivor after all.'

He knew I didn't do it. But he knew about the relationship I had with Ezekiel, and now was the perfect time to lock me up. Now that Zeke was no longer on scene and he had something to accuse me for. He wanted to get rid of me. And nothing I could say can change that.

I didn't speak. I couldn't speak.

Tears streamed down my face as I began to fall away into darkness. "Throw him in the cells" was the last thing I heard before darkness consumed me completely.
