Katy's father drove a cruise ship. Her mother was a stewardess on the same vessel. Her family lived well in Port Angeles, until two-thirds of it when down with the ship on a stormy night. Katy was then shipped away to live with her aunt in New York City, where she meets Miles, a boy who survived the wreck. For a while, Katy's life seems to be shaping up, until she is accused of something her father may, or may not, have done, and her life is tossed into chaos again. In a world like her, you can never really tell who's the captain.
