Shows your greatest side?
Or do selfless acts
Make you feel like you are better
More moral than others?

If you ask me
It's the motive behind your deed
That shows who you are
Not the deed itself

For instance
Is writing this now
As insight into the human condition
An act of selflessness
Or an act of selfishness?

Am I looking for praise
and admiration
Or am I simply speaking
for the words themselves?

Charity donations
Are made public
Why do you think that is?
Is it to show how generous
the patrons are
Or is it to draw sponsors in?
Because all people want to be seen in a better light

I respect Anonymous
The collective of those people who don't care
About the fame and glory
Of winning
Of donating
Of helping

I respect Anonymous
Those humans who grow past human selfishness
Those who ignore the attention
For the simple reason they care more about their acts
Than how their acts will present them

I respect Anonymous
The ones that do good for goodness sake
The ones that are
Truly Blessed
For their actions
And their anonymity

Heeeeeeeey. . . So this is my first free verse and I guess it reads more like a monologue, buuuuuuut hey don't judge I've never written one before.
