Chapter 35
Here's a happier chapter for once. A friend helped me plan this out and it's longer to make up for the last chapter being short.

The next day, I was sitting on my couch. I was feeling lazy today and I was hoping Dad wouldn't assign me on any missions. I was tired because of the Chunin Exams and stressing over Itachi and Gin.
There was a knock at my door and I sat up on the couch.
I opened the door, seeing it was Asuma and Konohamaru.
"Hi, Aunt Kasumi!" Konohamaru waved.
I invited them both inside and they sat on the couch.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but what are you guys doing here?" I asked, sitting on the chair across the couch.
"I thought about a family outing," Asuma said. "And I know things are strained between me and the old man, but it would be nice to have the family get together for once,"
I liked the sound of that. The last time we ever had a family outing was when my mother and our older brother was still alive. Also, Dad and Asuma had an argument a few years ago and their relationship has been strained since then. I was probably the only one who was still close to him. I hoped that no one would start arguing when we went out though.
"Okay," I nodded. "Let me shower and I'll be ready,"
They both nodded and I went to the bathroom to go shower and get ready. After that, I grabbed my clothes and put them on.
"Yeah, but doesn't Auntie Kasumi hate it when you smoke?" I heard Konohamaru ask.
"What she doesn't know won't kill her," Asuma replied and I smelled a cigarette.
I quietly rushed over and stood behind Asuma, crossing my arms and had an eyebrow raised. Konohamaru started sweating nervously and Asuma looked over at him and then froze.
"She's right behind me, isn't she?"
Konohamaru nodded.
Asuma chuckled nervously.
I started giving Asuma an earful about smoking in my house and how he shouldn't be smoking. I smacked his head lightly after lecturing him and took the cigarette out of his mouth, then put it out and threw in the garbage.
"Don't smoke in my house, you know I hate it when you smoke," I ended.
Konohamaru looked a little scared and then shook it off after he noticed that I was no longer angry.
"Are we all ready?" Asuma asked.
"Yup," I said and we left my apartment to go get Dad.
He does so much paperwork that I wouldn't be surprised if we walked in and saw stacks of papers everywhere in the office. He needs a break every now and then or it'll probably kill him one day.
Asuma knocked on the door and Dad looked up. I could tell he was a bit surprised to see his two kids and his grandchild all standing together.
"What brings you three here?" Dad asked and went back to writing.
"Dad," Asuma said. "We planned to have a family outing and we want you to join us,"
Dad looked up surprised and you could see the happiness that flashed in his eyes when Asuma had said that. I think he missed the days when we were all together and would go out and eat somewhere.
"I guess I can call Iruka in to finish some paperwork," Dad stood up. "Let me go change into some different clothes and I'll meet you outside,"
We let Dad go change and walked down to the entrance to wait on him outside. I didn't know what Asuma had in mind, but I was actually looking forward to this. I hoped that we could keep this tradition going on for a long time now.
Dad came out of the Hokage's Tower and then smiled.
"What do you have in mind for today?" He asked.
"I was thinking we should go eat at that barbecue restaurant and then we could go play some shogi," Asuma said.
"Shogi's so boring though," Konohamaru huffed.
"Don't worry Konohamaru, we can do something else," I said to him.
"It better not be as boring as shogi," He said.
"It won't be," I laughed.
"How about we do something before shogi? I'm sure Konohamaru has lots of energy, so we should go for a hike or something," I suggested.
Dad nodded. "We can do that,"
"Great," I smile. "Let's eat, I'm starving!"
We walked over to the barbecue restaurant and the waitress led us to our table. Turns out Asuma already had set a reservation up, so he planned this ahead of time.
Dad sat next to Asuma and I took the seats across them, then Konohamaru slid into the seat next to mine.
I told Asuma that I would pay for Konohamaru and Asuma decided he would pay for Dad's food. We ordered two big plates of meat since we were going to be here for a while and Dad ordered some sake.
"So, what's been going on for the past few days? I know we haven't really spoken to each other in a while because of the Chunin Exams and all that," Dad started.
Asuma started talking about how well the Ino-Shika-Cho trio was doing on their training and even said that Ino was starting to grow out of her obsession with Sasuke.
"Oh, then I hung out with Kurenai a few times and-"
I started giving him a sly smile. "Do I sense a...niece or a nephew coming soon?"
Asuma's face turned redder than the raw meat on the plate. He could barely form any words.
"N-No!"
"Are you sure? Do you plan to get married to her, Asuma?" I continued. "You should've invited her! I love her Asuma, so you better marry that girl and treat her good!"
"She's busy," Asuma answered, embarrassed. "and if she was here, you would only make everything awkward by teasing us to no end,"
"That's what sisters are for, Asuma," I giggle. "Seriously though, do I have a niece or a nephew coming soon?"
Konohamaru made a noise of disgust. "Let's not talk about that. I'm trying to eat,"
Dad was amused at how Asuma and I were interacting. It was just like old times. I'd tease him relentlessly about how he would probably end up dating Kurenai when we were kids and he would get embarrassed.
"Let's talk about you now, Kasumi. You've been under the radar for a while," Dad tried to save Asuma some more embarrassment.
I had a lot going on, but I couldn't tell them half of it.
"Nothing interesting is going on with me," I lied. "The most action I've gotten was the whole Chunin Exams incident,"
Dad looked at me thoughtfully. Does he know something is up?
"And I uh...recently got a cat named Stormy," I added.
I really needed to find a black cat soon.
"Huh, I didn't see your cat when we were at your apartment," Konohamaru said, eating his food.
"He went outside," I lied and took a bite of my food.
"Enough about me," I changed the subject. "Let's talk about you now, Konohamaru,"
Konohamaru just told us about how he had a rivalry with Naruto and how he's training so he could surpass him. I was glad to hear that Konohamaru was starting to take his training more seriously instead of slacking off a lot.
Now that we were done with our brunch, we decided to take that hike. We didn't walk too far away, but we just walked on the outskirts of the village and around the hills. We made ran into Guy a few times and he was "training."
He literally ran past us like four times, so he must've been training really hard.
After our hike, we went back to Asuma's place and he set up the game shogi so he could play it with Dad. Since Konohamaru was bored with shogi, I took him out to go train to a training ground until they were finished.
"This gives me a good opportunity to show you this brand new jutsu that Big Brother Naruto showed me!" Konohamaru started grinning mischievously.
It worried me a little.
"Ready?" He smirked.
"Yup,"
"Sexy jutsu!"
I made a weird face and suddenly Konohamaru turned into a woman who was my age and clouds were covering her breasts and nether regions.
I sweat-dropped.
"And here I thought he meant ninjutsu..." I muttered.
Konohamaru changed back to normal and he smirked. "So how was that?"
"I thought you meant you learned ninjutsu," I sighed. "And what would you need that jutsu for exactly?"
"To distract Ebisu," Konohamaru shrugged.
Asuma came back over, telling us that they finished playing shogi. We took a picture together before having to go home because I insisted on taking one. We walked Konohamaru home first so he wouldn't get in trouble with Sayuri and then Dad went to the Hokage's Tower. Iruka came out looking exhausted.
"Goodnight you two." Dad said and waved.
I turned to Asuma. "I'm glad to see you're starting to get along with him,"
"Yeah, I figured we should have another family outing since we probably won't have the time to do it later on," Asuma said and walked me home.
"We should do it more often. It's nice to get the family together after not doing it for so long,"
We were now at my apartment and Asuma smiled.
"Goodnight Kasumi."
"Goodnight Asuma."
I shut the door behind me. Today was actually pretty fun. I hoped that we would get together more often.
