ALEXIS' POV

"Excuse me, Lady Alexis?" One of the maids called out to me which snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? yes, what's wrong?" I asked her.

"You've been cleaning that same spot on the floor for a while now."

"Oh, sorry..." I spoke in a depressed tone.

I stood up from the ground and then Sora whimpered at me. 

"Lady Alexis, are you feeling all right?"

"I'm fine..."

I lied, I wasn't all right. I was feeling a bit depressed because I was feeling homesick but, I didn't want to admit that to the others.

"If you're not feeling well, you can always take the day off, we're doing much today and you look like you can use the break."

"No, I don't mind."

"Please, Lady Alexis, you'll make us and the other warlords worry about you."

"*Sighs* okay, fine, if you insist," I told them before walking away with Sora following me.

3RD PERSON POV

As Alexis decided to take a walk, Masamune tried to greet her but, she ignored him. Masamune was surprised by this and then he asked one of this maids.

"What's wrong with her?"

"We don't know, Lady Alexis looks sad and we don't know why."

"Have you tried talking to her?"

"We tried to but, she wouldn't tell us."

Masamune looked a bit worried when the maids told him this. Back with Alexis, she underneath the shade of a tree in the garden while Sora, Shougetsu and Wasabi sat beside her and they were trying to comfort her. Sora gently rubbed his head on Alexis' arm to get her attention but, it didn't work. Shogetsu was lying on her lap and he tried to get Alexis to pet him but, that didn't work either. Wasabi tugged on the skirt of her kimono to get a reaction but, it was no use. The three animals gave up but, they refused to leave her side.

Sora whimpered a little as he and Wasabi laid next to Alexis while Shogetsu laid down on her lap. Mitsunari was on his way to the archives until he spotted Alexis sitting in the gardens with Sora, Shogetsu and Wasabi. He was surprised at first until he noticed the sad look on Alexis' face. He walked into the gardens and he spoke up.

"Alexis?"

Alexis snapped out of her thoughts and then she noticed Mitsunari.

"Oh, hi Mitsunari..."

Alexis spoke in a depressed tone. Mitsunari moved Wasabi out of the way so there was a spot for him to sit next to her.

"What's wrong? you don't seem like your cheery self today."

"It's nothing...I'm just having a bit of an off day that's all..."

Sora whimpered a little before nudging his nose against Alexis' face to cheer her up but, it didn't work. Mitsunari was able to tell that something was bothering her and then he said to her.

"Do you want to talk about it? you know you can talk to any of us about what's been bothering you."

ALEXIS' POV

I looked at Mitsunari and I decided to tell him since I was starting to make everyone worry about me.

"Well...you already know that I wasn't born here right?"

"Yes, you did."

"Well...it just got to the point that I'm starting to feel homesick...I mean think about it...I grew up in Canada but then, my parents told me we were moving to Kyoto... don't get me wrong, there's nothing with Japan but...I just miss the place where I was born and all of my friends and family..."

Mitsunari looked at me surprised at first but, then he had that sympathy look on his face.

"Oh, you poor girl, I didn't realise that you were starting to feel like that."

"Well...I didn't want to make a big deal out of it besides, I still feel like a stranger here."

"You don't need to feel like that, why don't you do something to distract yourself? say like singing and playing your guitar."

"I tried that but, nothing comes to my mind. I don't have any inspirations and I can't make them because I've been feeling like...well, this and besides, even if I tried again...I wouldn't like singing...not when my mood is very depressing right now..."

Mitsunari thought for a moment until he had an idea.

"Hey I have an idea, why don't you come with me to the archives?"

"Huh?"

"We've got different kinds of books there, there might be some you're interested in."

"Really? thanks, Mitsunari."

I said to him before standing up from the ground while having Shogetsu in my arms. Sora followed after me and then we got to the archives. Once we got there, I sat down at the table with Shogetsu sitting on my lap and then we saw Ieyasu.

"Lord Ieyasu, I wasn't expecting to find you here."

"I was getting medical books, nothing more, what are you two doing here?"

"I was planning to read some military tactics but, I found Alexis sitting alone and homesick."

"Homesick? what are you a child?"

I sighed sadly since I wasn't in the mood to deal with him. Sora growled while Shogetsu hissed at Ieyasu's comment. Ieyasu looked at them surprised and then he asked me.

"What the? both Sora and Shogetsu are defending her? what kind of spell did you cast on them?"

I didn't answer him as I sat down at the table with Shogetsu on my lap while Sora sat beside me. Mitsunari then said to Ieyasu.

"See? I told you that she was depressed."

Ieyasu sighed annoyingly until he sat somewhere else with a pile of books based on medicine at his side. Mitsunari got some poetry books and then he sat them down in front of me.

"Here, these are some of the poetry books that Masamune read once before, you might like them."

"Thanks, Mitsunari..."

I mumbled sadly before taking the first book and I began to read it. I glanced at Mitsunari and he was already reading. I was a little bit surprised to notice the reading glasses on his face and then I said to him.

"That a good book you're reading, Mitsunari?"

Mitsunari didn't say anything as he stayed still as a statue while his eyes read the book. I was confused by this and then I called out to him.

"Mitsunari?" I waved my hand in front of his face and he didn't blink.

"Odd, it's like he's gone deaf or something."

Sora whimpered in response before he tugged on his sleeve and yet there was still no response. Ieyasu sighed and then he said to me.

"It's no use, once Mitsunari gets his nose in a book, he won't snap out of it until he's finished reading, why do you think Hideyoshi is always constantly worrying about him?"

"Do you know something, I was wondering why Mitsunari doesn't always eat his lunch that Masamune and I make for him. And you said that he won't snap out it?"

"He won't because he's always still as a statue and his mind is in his own world and no matter we say or do, he won't respond, watch."

Ieyasu walked over to Mitsunari and then he pulled on his hair. I was about to scold him but, Mitsunari didn't even flinch or realise what was going on. I waved my hand in front of his face and I was surprised by this.

"Wow, still as a statue," I commented.

"See, I told you so, now if you'll excuse me."

I watched Ieyasu sit back down at the table where he was back to reading the medical books. I looked at the poetry books and I began to read them. Some of them were really good and I know that can turn them into songs but, I've always been told not to use anything that's been written by someone else.

3RD PERSON POV

After a few hours of reading, Mitsunari finally finished reading the military books and then he puts away the books he was reading. Mitsunari then noticed how late it had gotten and then he said to Alexis.

"Oh my, it's gotten late already? time certainly has flown by, Alexis shall we head back to- oh?"

Mitsunari stopped talking when he noticed Alexis was resting her head on her folded arms. Turns out Alexis had fallen asleep while reading one of the poetry books. Sora also fell asleep next to Alexis with Shogetsu curled up next to him. Mitsunari gently shook her a little and he said to her.

"Alexis, wake up."

Alexis didn't wake up as she stayed asleep. Mitsunari sighed a little and then he takes off his jacket before placing it over Alexis' shoulder so that she wasn't feeling cold while she slept. Mitsunari left the archives and then Hideyoshi came over to him.

"There you are, Mitsunari, where were you?"

"I was in the archives studying military tactics and the messages that we received from our scouts about the War God and the Tiger of Kai and I also had Alexis with me as well, she was feeling a bit homesick so I recommended some poetry books to give her the inspiration to make another song."

"Where is she now?"

"She's still there, but, she ended up falling asleep. I tried to wake her up but, she wouldn't budge or wake up. It's like she's fallen into a deep sleep or something."

"I see, I'll take care of her, you go and head back to your room."

"Okay, Goodnight."

Mitsunari said to Hideyoshi before he headed back to his room. Hideyoshi got into the archives and he found Alexis still asleep with her head resting on her folded arms while Sora and Shogetsu slept beside her. Hideyoshi came over to her and he he shook her shoulder a little.

"Alexis, Alexis, wake up."

"Hm...five more minutes, John..." Alexis sleep-talked in her sleep.

"It's not John, it's Hideyoshi, now wake up."

Alexis' eyes fluttered opened and then she slowly sat up while rubbing her eyes.

"Hideyoshi? what are you doing here and where's Mitsunari?"

"Mitsunari left a while ago, you fell asleep while reading some of these books."

"I did? Oh, sorry."

"Don't worry about it, you head back to your room, I'll clear up the books."

"Thanks, Hideyoshi."

Alexis then noticed Mitsunari's jacket draped over her shoulders. That was when she realised that he must have gave his jacket top her to keep her warm from the cold while she took a power nap. 

"Where's Mitsunari now?"

"He's gone back to his room, you can give his jacket back the next time you see him."

"All right, thanks Hideyoshi, goodnight."

Alexis stood up and then Sora woke up along with Shogetsu and then they followed after her. 

THE NEXT DAY...

Alexis brought Mitsunari's jacket back to his room and then she headed to the porch with her guitar since she got an inspiration to write a new song. Alexis sat down at the porch with Sora, Wasabi and Shogetsu. They sat around her and then she began to play her guitar and she began to sing.

As Alexis continued sing and play the guitar, Masamune, Hideyoshi and Mitsunari heard her singing and they quietly hid in the background as she sang.

After Alexis finished singing, the others smiled at her when they finally noticed she had returned back to her cheery self. Masamune patted Mitsunari's shoulder and he said to him.

"Mitsunari, I don't know what you did to put that smile back on her face but, for once, you did a good job without screwing it up."

"What does that supposed to mean?" Mitsunari asked Masamune in a confused tone.

Without them realising it, Alexis heard them and then she smiled a little before she thought to herself.

'Despite Mitsunari's clumsiness, he does have that angelic look on his face and when I felt troubled yesterday, he cheered me up. Just like my guardian angel.'
