I Guess I Was Wrong About Her
ALEXIS' POV
A while had passed since I started living and working at Azuchi. Some of the warlords have warmed up to me and Sora but, there was one in particular who still doesn't like me or Sora that very much. Ieyasu looked as if he hasn't gotten used to me being around that much. It still ticks me off every now and then but, I tried my best not to let my anger get the better of me since I was supposed to be the calm and understanding one of the band back in Canada.
Right now, Katsumi, one of the maids and closet friend, and I were in the gardens and we were trying to move a large tree stump that broke during the bad storm a few days ago but, it wasn't budging.
"Let's try one more time, one, two, three, push!"
Katsumi and I pushed the large branch but, it still wouldn't move.
"No good, it's too big and too heavy."
Katsumi said in exhaustion and then Sora ran over to us with a rope in his mouth. Sora puts down the rope and then an idea popped into my head.
"Of course, why didn't I thought about that before."
Katsumi looked at me confused before I tied the rope around the tree branch and then Sora held the rope in his mouth ready to pull.
"OK, let's try one more time, ready Sora?"
Sora barked before he pulled and we pushed the branch. Once the tree branch was out of the way, I wiped the sweat off my forehead and I patted Sora's head.
"Good job, Sora."
"Big deal."
A familiar voice spoke up and it was Ieyasu.
"So what your dog is strong? it doesn't make your special."
Several tick marks appeared on my head and then Sora growled at Ieyasu.
"Don't you have anything else to do other than annoying the crap out of me?"
"As a matter of fact I do, just stay out of trouble."
Ieyasu said before he walked away. Sora and I growled annoyingly after he left. Once I was on break, I was having tea with Masamune and Mitsunari but, I was in a foul mood. Sora cowered in fear and he hid behind Mitsunari as I grumbled angrily about Ieyasu.
"Ugh! what the hell is his problem with me?!! every time I'm in the middle of work! Ieyasu appears out of now and he becomes negative about me!! what the hell man!!"
Mistunari chuckled nervously and then Masamune said to me.
"Yikes, I've never seen you this angry before."
"*Sighs* apologies, I've never been good with my anger, Lizzy used to look at me as the understanding and the calm type when I was still living in Canada."
"Well, things have changed now, Lass."
Masamune said with a smirk before sipping his tea. Sora came out of hiding and he sat next to me cautiously.
"But, seriously, what's Ieyasu's problem with me? what have I done to upset him?"
"Lord Ieaysu is just too serious, give him time and he'll get used to you."
Mitsunari said with that angel smile on his face but, I wasn't buying it as I frowned a little.
"He's got a funny way of showing it if you ask me he's just as cold-hearted like Lord Nobunaga."
Masamune nearly burst out laughing when I said this. Mitsunari sweatdropped a little and he said to me.
"Alexis, that's a cold shoulder."
"I'm just saying it like it is, right Sora?"
Sora barked in response and then we went back to work. Before we went back to work, Sora suddenly stopped in his tracks and then he sniffed the air. Sora started barking and then he dashed into the gardens.
"Hey! come back here, buddy!"
I shouted as I chased after him. Sora came to a halt and he then he started sniffing the bushes and then he buried his face in the bushes.
"What did you find, boy?"
Sora slowly backed away and then a fawn came out of the bushes. I was surprised by this and then I watched the fawn limped a little and then it laid down.
"Aw, you poor thing, let me see you."
I said as I looked at its back leg and the poor fawn had cut itself when it got caught in the bushes. Sora sat beside me and then I said to him.
"Sora, go and find something to wrap the cut, I'll stay here and look after this little guy."
Sora barked in response and then he ran off to look for something to fix this wound.
3RD PERSON POV
Sora wandered into Ieyasu's room and then he looked at him.
"What are you doing here, mutt?"
Sora sniffed around and then he found some bandages that were on the lower shelf. Sora wagged his tail and then he took the roll from the basket before leaving the room with the bandages in his mouth.
"Hey! come back here the bandages!"
Sora ran off with the bandages in his mouth while Ieyasu chased after him. Back with Alexis, she cleaned up the fawn's injury with her handkerchief while the baby deer rested on her lap and then Sora finally came back with the roll of bandages in his mouth.
"Good job, boy."
Sora barked at Alexis after she took the bandages from him. Alexis began to wrap the bandage around the fawn's leg and he stayed perfectly still. Once the bandage and then the fawn stood up to test his leg and he's looking a bit better now.
"There you go, feeling better."
The fawn came over to Alexis and then he pressed his little nose against her cheek as his way of saying thanks. Alex giggled a little when the fawn did this. Ieyasu spotted Alexis and he was surprised to see Alexis with the fawn. Ieyasu watched Alexis pet the fawn with a smile on her face while petting the fawn's head. Ieyasu blushed a little and the thought to himself.
'Wow, I've never seen Alexis smile like that before...I guess I might be wrong about her.'
Ieyasu approached Alexis and he called out to her.
"Alexis."
Alexis looked up and then she frowned at Ieyasu.
"Oh great, it's the pipsqueak who talks badly about me, what the hell do you want?"
"That's a bit of a hostile attitude."
Sora got in front of Alexis protectively and then he started growling at Ieyasu angrily. Ieyasu backed away from him and he said to Alexis.
"Can't you keep that mutt of yours under control?"
"As I said before, he's very protective of me and did I also forget to mention he likes to go after men who talk badly about me."
"You've got to be kidding me!"
"Honey, do I look like I'm kidding?"
ALEXIS' POV
I asked as Sora stalked towards Ieyasu while growling at him.
"Easy, easy. Down boy, stay, sit!"
Ieyasu commanded as he pressed his back against the wall. I smirked at Ieyasu and then the fawn escaped from my lap and then I watched it headbutting against Sora's side. Sora looked at the fawn surprised as it continued it's weak headbutting.
"Wasabi, what are you trying to do?" Ieyasu asked the fawn.
"Wasabi? you mean to tell me that little guy is your pet?"
"Wasabi is not my pet! I'm only keeping him as my food source."
"Oh, sure he is," I spoke with a smile.
Wasabi kept heading butting Sora until he finally snapped. Sora growled and then he started barking at him. Wasabi jumped in fright and then he hides behind me. I glared at Sora and I said to him.
"No need to snap Sora, Wasabi was only protecting Ieyasu."
I said as I patted the little guy's head. Sora stopped glaring at Wasabi before laying down on the ground and whimpering sadly. Ieyasu looked at Sora surprised and then he asked me.
"What's with that sad look on his face?"
"That's just his way of saying he's sorry and guilty."
"I see," Ieyasu said before cautiously sitting next to me.
He looked at Wasabi and he noticed the bandage on Wasabi's leg.
"Did he hurt himself?"
"Yes, he did, Sora was the one who found him in the bushes. The poor little guy must have gotten stuck and he hurt himself when he was struggling to get out of the bushes."
"So that's why Sora stole those bandages."
Ieyasu took Wasabi in his arms and then checked his wrapped leg.
"Hmm... the bandage wrapping is not loose or too tight, it's actually not that bad."
Ieyasu either sounded impressed or he was actually praising me.
"Where did you learn how to treat an animal's injury?"
"My best friend Seth, who has a sister, works with animals and she treats their injuries all the time, she taught me how to wrap a bandage on an animal and of course, Sora was my little practice dummy."
Sora whimpered loudly before running away and ducking behind some bushes. I laughed at his reaction and I said to him.
"Hey, Sora! come on back, there's no need to be so worried, I'm not gonna do it to you again."
Sora whimpered in response and he continued to hide behind the bushes. Ieyasu chuckled a little and then he asked me.
"What was that about?"
"Sora was my practice dummy for a while but, he hated it. Every time I tried to put a bandage on him, he kept trying to escape.'
'Not to mention he hated going to the vets.'
I thought to myself as I remembered Sora's scared reaction when he had the vaccine shots.
"I see, anyway, thanks."
Ieyasu said as he picks up Wasabi in his arms. My ears perked up when I heard Ieyasu said that.
"Hold up, did you say thanks to me?" I asked him with a surprised look on my face.
"Yeah, so what? it's not like I care about you or anything."
Ieyasu said as he carried Wasabi back into the castle. I smiled a little and then Sora came over to me and then I said to him.
"I guess Masamune is right, maybe Ieyasu is a bit of sourpuss but, perhaps there is a softer side to him."
I glanced at Sora and then I started laughing while Sora barked at me.
"Nah, that'll never happen, come on, boy."
Sora barked in response and then we went back to work.
IEYASU'S POV
I took Wasabi back to my room and I checked his injury. Thankfully, his injury isn't serious but, I was impressed when Alexis treated his injury. I smiled a little and then I began to disinfect his injury before wrapping another bandage on his leg.
'I guess I was wrong about her, maybe she's not as weak as I thought she was.'
