Rumors, huh? Why would you ever spread them if they aren't true?
~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, I heard that Marth stole things from Peach's jewelry shop."
~~~~~~~~~~
While Marth was on cleaning duty for the dining hall, Peach came.
He looked over at the princess and smiled. However, she didn't smile back.
"Oh, Peach! Is there something you need?" Marth asked, stopping what he was doing and walking over to her.
She didn't respond. In the blink of an eye, she raised her hand and slapped Marth across his face.
Marth looked at Peach with fear and horror. "What w-was that for..?"
She struggled to hold back tears as she yelled, "WHY WOULD YOU STEAL FROM ME?!"
Marth felt confused. "What do you mean? I didn't steal anything."
Peach shook her head and pointed at Marth. "Don't you dare lie to me! I was told that you stole something from my shop! What was it?!"
"I-I don't know, I swear!" Marth answered, honestly.
He really didn't know what Peach was talking about in the slightest.
Peach groaned and stormed out of the dining hall.
"I didn't do anything..." Marth mumbled.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Did you hear? Marth has intentions to kill one of us, fighters. This is bad.."
~~~~~~~~~~
Later in the day once Marth had finished, he was reflecting on what happened earlier in the dining hall while walking back to his room.
As he passed by fighters, they looked at him with worry, fear, and disgust.
Marth tried to wave and give them a smile, but they all turned their heads away or walked off.
He felt extremely puzzled.
Before he made it to his room, Lucina approached him, shaking.
"Lucina? Are you alright? You seem scared of something." Marth pointed out.
"It's me, isn't it?" She replied, feeling horrible.
"What do you mean?" Marth asked, not understanding.
"I'm the one you want to kill..." Lucina answered, looking away.
"I don't want to kill anyone. Why would you even think that?" Marth questioned, confused by Lucina's sudden change in emotion.
"Don't give me your lies and excuses..." Lucina responded. "If you want someone dead, it's me, isn't it?!"
She raised her voice at Marth. In shock, Marth stepped back.
"I d-don't understand, Lucina. Why would you think I'd want to kill?" Marth asked.
"YOU WANT ME DEAD! JUST TELL ME THE TRUTH!" She exclaimed, stomping her foot on the ground.
"I really don't understand. I'd never want to kill you, never in my life." Marth tried to persuade.
Lucina, furious, stormed away.
"I don't want to kill you...or anyone." Marth said to himself.

The following weeks were torture for Marth. Fighters were avoiding him and more lies were spreading.
Soon enough, everyone hated Marth. Although all these rumors were false, people believed it.
After dinner, Marth rushed out of the dining hall and towards his room.
He quietly walked inside, then took off his cape/scarf, boots, armor, and tiara and put them in his closet.
Marth lay on his bed as he stared at the ceiling, starting to feel worse than before.
Why am I being accused of things I never did..?
He laid on his left side and felt the burn of Peach's slap on his right cheek still sticking with him.
Unexpectedly, Marth started to cry. He attempted to wipe them away, but ended up bursting into more tears.
He quickly pulled the covers over himself to muffle his sobs.
After a long period of Marth crying, he eventually fell asleep.
Hours passed, Marth woke up in the middle of the night and checked his alarm clock.
"2:46 am"
He took a deep breath and walked over to his closet to put his clothes back on.
Then, he left his room.
As Marth passed by fighter's doors, the worse he felt.
It was as if no one was on his side. No one believed him, even if he tried. He was alone..
Tears started to roll down Marth's cheeks. He dashed over to the stairs that led to the roof top.
Marth pushed the door open to be greeted with a light gust of wind. He looked up at the dark blue sky as more tears fell onto the floor.
He smiled sadly to himself as he walked over to the edge of the roof top.
Marth's hair and cape blew in the wind, as he chuckled to himself.
After staring off into the distance, Marth stepped on the ledge.
He clasped his hands together and smiled. Taking off his cape/scarf, armor, and tiara, he neatly folded his cape and placed it on the floor with the tiara and armor rested on top.
Marth closed his eyes as he leaned forward and whispered to himself, "It's for the better.."
"MARTH!" Someone yelled out.
Marth felt himself being held back by his wrist. His eyes shot open, and saw himself barely tipping over the edge.
He was pulled back with such force that it caused him to fall backwards. Luckily, he landed into someone's arms.
The mysterious person held onto Marth tightly as they mumbled, "Don't do it. Please, stay."
Immediately, Marth had recognized who it was. The way they spoke; you could hear it. The sound of their worried, fearful voice starting to break.
It wasn't fake in the slightest.
As a tear rolled down Marth's cheek, he muttered, "Ike..?"
The person nodded, hiding their face in Marth's shoulder.
"You can't go. Not like this." They replied, their voice muffled.
Marth turned around to face Ike and embraced him, resting his head on Ike's chest.
He murmured under his breath, "Don't leave me. You're all I have."
Marth began to cry once again. He took a shaky breath and replied, "You actually c-care for me?"
Ike nodded and answered, "Of course I do."
"But what about all those things I've done.." Marth reminded, his grip around Ike getting tighter.
Ike rested his chin on Marth's head and held onto it with his right hand, the other hand holding Marth.
"I know they aren't true. I was skeptical at first, until I realized that it was you, Marth. Someone who's kind in any and every way.
When I overheard these lies about things you've done, it was easy to tell that they were fake.
So please, don't end everything just because of fake news. Someone still cares about you, someone still thinks of you, someone still loves you for who you are.
That 'someone' is me."
Marth shuddered as he hugged Ike as tight as he could, tears still falling. He whimpered, causing Ike to hold him closer.
"I-I'm.. I'm s-sorry!" Marth said aloud.
Ike gently stroked Marth's hair, alongside him saying, "Shh. Shh."
Marth breathed shakily and tried to swallow. He struggled and gripped onto Ike tighter.
Ike lifted Marth's chin up to look him in the eyes.
He smiled. "Don't be sorry. Besides, look at you, carrying that attractive face around!"
Marth weakly smiled back and chuckled.
Ike embraced Marth once more. "Don't leave, ok? I don't know what I'd do without you."
Marth gently hugged Ike back and replied, "I won't leave you... I promise."
