The story starts with a cheerful vibe, telling us what Christmas is all about and different ways of how people enjoy the holidays at the jolly season.

The perfect amount of details give us a road back to the family and how this love developed. And the main character receives all the love from her brother once she gets back home with her twelve plum frosted cakes. What's better on a holiday than family love?

Like every other year, the family sat together for a Christmas meal, enjoying, laughing and just relishing each other's company. The main character glances at the empty seat where Caleb would have been seated. He would be seated there every year during Christmas, but not this time and this brings sorrow to the members of the family.

Caleb was the older brother that everyone found annoying but thanked God for having him.

Arden, the main character, tells us how much she missed Caleb and in which he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that ate him up. There were all these memories of him hinting that he'd never get back and the narrator tells us how much he's meant to her and the family and how much stronger he was than any of them could ever be.

The writer tells us a wonderful story on how, no matter the time or place, one always stays within the heart of another, specially when it comes to family and how very slowly they start to accept what has happened to Caleb and move on with a brave image of him.
