Nicki's Pov
Woke up with light blazing through my room. It's Monday morning and I have to be at the bus in 10 minutes. Shit I can't be late again. I ran to my closet and put on sweatpants and black crop top with my black Uggs. I ran to the bathroom quickly and put my hair in a messy bun. I sprinted out the door with my backpack barely hanging off my shoulder. The bus was there. Damn I have to run faster. I just made it, out of breath and dying but made it. My eyes are blurry and my head hurts. I'm thinking to myself please don't pass out, please don't pass out!

Carl's Pov
Nicki is not at the bus stop where the fuck is she. I'm starting to get worried because she is usually here before me. The bus is here and I don't see her. I step on and go to the back of the bus, in the back window I see her sprinting to the bus. I scream "hey mr. Bus driver don't start the bus someone is coming on". She's there and sees me and sits down in the front. I study her she seems like she has nothing left, like she has no energy and she could barely walk, her eyes are baggy and she looks tired. This is all my fault I thought. Today I had to make things right she has to be ready because she's not going to see what's coming

Nicki's Pov
I walk into my lame high school. Hearing people talk shit on others. I go straight to my locker and ignore everyone. I get my math and science stuff and slam my locker and walk to home room. When I got there the loud speaker went off and said "Nicki Jenkins please report to the gym". It was weird, there was no one in my home room except for the teacher. I walked slowly to the gym. The lights were off. I walked up and screamed "hello anybody here". My voice echoed through the gym. The light turned on and the whole school was in the gym. What the hell I thought. I see Carl right In front of me. At this point I stop thinking and I stop being confused because I seriously don't care anymore. The janitor gave him a microphone and I just stood there like a clueless idiot. He starts talking.
"Guys I'm here to prove to you that I don't need to be popular, I have a real best friend who cares about me right here; her name is Nicki and she will do anything for me and the thing is all of you assholes don't care about her and I don't know how because she is the nicest, sweetest and cutest thing that is on the face of this earth. You all need to stop acting like being cool matters and start caring about people's feelings. What you are doing to her is not okay because I.....I...love her". The whole crowd gasped at his last sentence. He looked at me with his sexy smirk and said "I hope you were ready".
I looked at him with a blank stare and I said "I wasn't ready at all".
He grabbed my waist and kissed me in front of the whole school. Sparks flew through my body and chest.
"I don't think you were ready for that either" he said in a sexy tone.
He turned to the crowd and said "fuck you Bonnie".

That day could've been the best day of my life; Carl actually stood up for me. In front of the whole school. He wasn't lying when he said to be ready because I wasn't.

Carl's Pov
I can't believe I did that today, I kissed her, it was the best kiss I ever had.
As I was thinking about today my phone rang from a blocked number. I answered it.
"Do you know anyone by the name of Nicki Jenkins"?

"Yeah why" I said confused and worried.

"Well you better come quick"

"Where"? I have no idea what's going on but this doesn't sound good.
