Ignorance 13

“Listen everyone! We have our upcoming events which is the Contemporary Arts Day. So, the college of Arts will exhibit different art forms for two days…”

The instructor continued announcing the said event. Eric turns to Yeonjun who’s paying attention to class. “Oh, we’re going to prepare a play now then,” he said.

“Yeah. Sana already heads me up about the choices of what play we’re going to do,” Yeonjun replied.

“Are we going for a romance again?” Eric laughs.

Yeonjun chuckles, “Depends on the majority as always. We can always provide props and best performances anyway,” he stated.

“Well I hope Sana will come up with a new taste,” Eric stated and both paid attention to class.

After the first morning class Yeonjun proceeds on the College of Arts office to be one of the representatives for the upcoming event. As soon as he enters, eyes locked on him and everyone went silent.

“Yeonjun! Sit here,” Lee Sana, the newest president elected of the department welcomed him.

Yeonjun waves his hand at her while smiling back. “I’ll just sit here,” he said and decided to sit at the back part.

“So are we still waiting for the others? Since it’s already time, let’s just start right away because I know some has still their respective classes,” Sana stated and she started with her agenda.

Fast forward, Yeonjun just listened and agreed with everyone until the meeting ended and it left him and Sana inside the office. “Oh my dear Yeonjun, if you just won that day, then you’re the one who should be presenting all of those instead of me. I suddenly looked like a spokesperson,” Sana said while walking towards Yeonjun and takes a sit beside him.

Yeonjun laughs, “I just let you win that day. At least be grateful?”

“But not in such a scandalous way!” she exclaimed and Yeonjun just laughs at her. “But thank you anyway, for letting me win.”

“If you didn’t approach me in the last minute, oh no. I should have seen you crying!” Yeonjun teases her.

“Hey!” Sana rolled her eyes. “But still… Did Soobin know about it? That’s why he stopped you as well?”

Yeonjun shook his head and leans his head on the chair then looks at the ceiling. “No… But I don’t know what’s going on inside his head so I just let him do what he wants. But I’m still curious why he had stopped me… He seems so serious about it.”

“Serious? No. For sure he just loves ruining other people,” Sana remarks and sighs in annoyance.

Yeonjun chuckles at it. “You think so?”

“Yes! And I’m totally confused why you are two friends? Friends… for now?” Sana grins.

Yeonjun pushes her gently and he stands up. “Let’s go, you still have class,” he invited. “Give me your bag.”

Sana handed her bag to Yeonjun and they went out together. “It’s been a while since we talked like this. We should get some coffee sometimes,” Sana said.

“We’re just both busy but I can always lend time,” Yeonjun replied and pauses from walking when he saw someone from afar, standing and glaring at him.

“Seriously Yeonjun, you’re really going to be friend that guy?” Sana asks and chuckles in soft then Yeonjun smiles and nod.

“He’s more interesting that you thought,” Yeonjun remarks and glance at Sana to smile.

Soobin’s brows knitted and his blood started boiling. His eyes meet Yeonjun’s who’s smiling at him. Soobin took off his bag and dropped it on the floor, and then he started walking away.

“Wow, you have a moody friend right there,” Sana laughs and takes his bag from Yeonjun. “Bye-bye! See you around,” she bid her good bye and part her ways.

Yeonjun laughs at himself and walks towards where Soobin dropped his bag and he followed him. “Soobin! Choi Soobin,” he called the other who pretends to be deaf.

They passed by some empty corridors since the class already started. Yeonjun who’s still following Soobin, quickly run a few steps and grab his arms. Soobin got confused but Yeonjun’s grip went even tighter and pulled him inside an empty room.

“Come here,” Yeonjun speak. He pulled a chair and let Soobin take a sit and then he pulled one for him. “What’s making you so mad, huh?” he smiles.

“Who was that?” Soobin asks in plain tone.

“Lee Sana, she’s also a 4th year student, we’re same major but different blocks. She’s a friend,” Yeonjun explains and Soobin is still staring at him. “Wasn’t enough? I’ll be honest we’re pretty close since we attended the same middle and senior high school but time made us busy and we barely talk now,” he added.

“And?”

Yeonjun pressed his lips together and exhale, “And yes… She’s my ex-girlfriend,” he confessed and smiles. He held Soobin’s hand, “But we’re just—”

Soobin cut him off, “I don’t care if she’s a past lover of yours but why did you continue being friends with her?” he asks.

“I think cases like that are based on different situation. For us, Sana and I decided to break up because we wanted to focus on ourselves. At first, we should only take a break,” he paused. “But as time goes, we discovered that we could still do more if we’re separated and that’s happened,” he explained. “Are you mad?”

Soobin keep still and just let Yeonjun caress his hand. “I’m sorry,” Yeonjun apologize. “I felt the need not to tell you about my silly past. I should have thought it through,” he apologized. “Forgive me, please?”

Yeonjun smiles so adorably. He gently lift Soobin’s hand and laid his soft lips on it as if Soobin’s skin is the most precious thing he could kiss.

Soobin’s eyes widen a bit, one of the emotions Yeonjun didn’t expect to see from Soobin. Yeonjun can clearly see how Soobin’s dead and plain eyes had another emotion in split second.

Yeonjun took the opportunity to pull Soobin’s hand, place his other hand on Soobin’s neck and pull him for a kiss. Soobin gladly kiss him back, closing his eyes and feeling how Yeonjun claim his lips until they both parted.

“You…” Soobin speaks in low voice.

“Hmm?”

Soobin stares at him for second while their faces as still close as few inches. Soobin gave him a half smile. “You never fail to amuse me,” he commented.

Yeonjun laughs, “I want to see your smiles more,” he just replied and continued chuckling. “Let’s grab some lunch together,” he then invited and stand up.

“Okay,” Soobin agreed and both head outside while Yeonjun carrying his bag.

When both arrived at the cafeteria, Hueningkai and Taehyun’s already in there. For the first time in a while, Soobin witnessed how Taehyun’s eyes almost closes by the way he laughs. There’s a sudden unfamiliar sting that Soobin felt inside him.

“Guys!” Yeonjun greeted the two and he sit next to Kai. “Hi Taehyun!”

Taehyun smiles, “Hello,” he greeted and his smiles slowly fade out when Soobin sit next to him. “I’ll go get us lunch,” he said after and was about to stand when Yeonjun stops him.

“No, it’s fine. I’ll go get it with Kai,” Yeonjun offered.

“Huh?” Kai frowns with the sudden statement.

“Come here,” Yeonjun laughs and both went in front.

“How’s Hueningkai?” Soobin asks Taehyun without looking at him.

“He’s great at talking. He loves talking about him as well,” Taehyun replied. “And I like hearing him talk. If it’s about Yeonjun, I’m sorry but I can barely get some information,” he apologizes.

“I didn’t tell you to extract information,” Soobin replied. “I just told you to get close with Kai,” he added.

Taehyun closes his lips, “I’ll take note of that.”

Both take a silence then Soobin notices how Taehyn place his hands under the table and starts pulling his nails. His head is also in low and when Soobin look around, he saw Yeonjun and Kai together with Beomgyu having their trays.

“Soobin, is it okay if Beomgyu will join us?” Yeonjun asks and puts the tray on the table.

“Hold it,” Soobin stops them from sitting. “Kai, could you sit next to Taehyun?”

“O-oh… No problem,” Kai replied and walks around to sit with Taehyun.

Yeonjun takes a sit and Beomgyu’s beside him. Soobin’s in front of Yeonjun, Taehyun’s facing Beomgyu, and Huening’s beside Taehyun.

“Here’s your food,” Yeonjun put Soobin’s tray in front of him. “Eat a lot,” he smiles while Soobin just stay silent and glances at Beomgyu.

“I’m sorry for joining you guys, the other tables are full,” Beomgyu apologizes.

“It’s fine,” Kai answered. “And it’s not like other students won’t welcome you if you asked them,” he added with chuckles.

Beomgyu smiles as well. “Taehyun, you should eat too,” he said as he notice Taehyun is still staring below.

They all started eating but Yeonjun noticed how Taehyun and Soobin is extra quiet than usual. Taehyun’s being cautious with his actions while Soobin’s eyes just keep on wandering around like he doesn’t care. Meanwhile, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, and Kai are talking about so much school stuffs.

Yeonjun get something from his bag, he opened a paper straw and stick it on the almond boxed milk then put in front of Soobin. “Are you good?” he asks him with a smile.

Soobin just nods as a reply and Beomgyu glances at them. “Soobin,” Beomgyu called. “Are you going to participate in the upcoming Art’s Day?” he asks.

“Why?” Soobin replied and placed his dead eyes on Beomgyu. “Do you want to see how I do my arts?”

“Why not?” Beomgyu sounded excited. “We would love to see!” he exclaimed and Yeonjun nods as well in agreeing.

Soobin just scoffs at it and continue eating. Yeonjun’s a bit conflicted because he can really feel there’s tension between the two of them including Taehyun.

“Beomgyu,” Yeonjun called. “You’re going to give us your full support in our play, right?”

“Of course!” Beomgyu affirmed with a smile. “Just make sure it’s a good play, okay?”

They continued talking about what will be their going to perform and Hueningkai glances at Taehyun. He’s eating in silence but other than that, Kai notice something.

Taehyun jolted when he felt Kai’s hand on his thigh. “Why are you shaking?” Kai whispered.

“N-nothing,” Taehyun shakes his head.

Kai opened the bottled water and gave it to Taehyun. “You need to calm down or you’ll feint,” he said.

Taehyun grabs it and drinks. He smiles at Hueningkai, “Thank you,” he almost mouthed, afraid of being heard.

“Don’t worry, let’s have something sweet later,” Kai offered. “Just eat a lot…”

“So Yeonjun, how’s Soobin being a friend?” Beomgyu asks. “I’m actually joyful because since you two started being close, Soobin kind of laylow,” he added.

Yeonjun smiles, “Oh, Soobin’s so much fun,” he states. “Other’s just seeing him with a bad temper,” he laughs as if Soobin can’t hear him.

“That’s good to hear!” Beomgyu exclaims. “Soobin, make sure to treat Yeonjun well, okay?”

Soobin glared at him.

“Make sure not to lose him, okay?” Beomgyu repeated the same tone with the same smile.

“Beomgyu, be careful, okay?” Soobin smiles. “Don’t lose me in your sight… You’ll regret it.”
