thirty-five

The doctor flinched underneath Y/N's stone cold gaze.

"You will go to my husband and tell him I am no longer able to conceive children."

The tension in the room was thick, the gaze of the Queen of England hard and the heart of the doctor too weak to handle such pressure.

"B-but, Your Majesty, I cannot do that...", his voice was shaking and it's hard for Y/N to stay as cold as she was. She does fit into the role of a queen very well, but sometimes she tends to forget to keep up her facade. Especially in situations like these.

"And why is that?"

"I cannot lie to His Majesty! That would be treason!", he said, shock written all over his face.

Poor man, might end up having a stroke sooner or later.

"Then what do you think would I do if you disobey my orders?", Y/N asked and raised a brow ever so slightly, the doctor shrinking into himself a little further.

"I-I believe, Your Majesty would have me hanged..." "Exactly," she smiled such an innocent smile, that it ended up being way too scary to be considered innocent.

There was no doubt that Y/N and George were the most dangerous Royals to have reigned so far.

"But if His Majesty found out, then-" "Then it is a pity. After all, your words stand against mine. And, think wisely, who would my king believe? His beloved queen or a mere doctor who is willing to do anything to get his time to shine. Do you have a family?"

The doctor nodded.

"Her Majesty asked you a question!", a guard snapped and the doctor winced "Yes, Your Majesty! A wife and three children!"

Y/N cut a cold glance in direction of the guard. Miles.

She had no idea how he had snuck into the castle, but after 'Protecting her from her personal guard who had tried to advance on her' he had been appointed her personal guard and the former had gone flying. Nobody needs to know that there has been no such thing as a tried advance of a guard, but a very believable act of Y/N and a bruised guard and Miles had done the trick. She was glad to have his support directly in the castle, even if he had ended up coming in like this.

"Three? What a merry lot, girls or boys?", Y/N asked and pulled her gaze back to the doctor, who replied in an instant "Two girls and a boy."

Y/N smiled at that and a horrible thought came to her mind. Sometimes she couldn't help but wonder if she was the devil himself, considering where her mind had just gone to, she cursed herself for her thoughts. How could she even consider this?

"Children are precious gifts, aren't they? You're willing to do anything for them, I bet," Y/N spoke and slowly began to circle him.

"Of course, Your Majesty. They're my most precious belongings." "Are they now?", Y/N stopped in her tracks and raised both her eyebrows at the doctor, unimpressed. "I was not aware of children being belongings."

The doctor flinched and bowed his head lower "Right, I apologize, that was the wrong way to put it, Your Majesty, I am truly sorry."

The auburn haired queen hummed and continued to circle him, before she came to a stop right in front of him.

"What would've you think they would do if they grew up without a father?"

The doctor froze and Y/N could almost feel his fear. It was practically radiating off of him.

"I'm afraid I do not understand what you mean, Your Majesty...?"

A smile tugged at the corner of her lips and she said "All it takes is two words and you're out of my sight forever. And should my husband ask, all I need to say would be that you molested me and everything would be all right. But think of the poor children," she began her pacing once more "The poor children, growing up without their father. How would their mother come along? How would she be able to afford food or clothing or their home?"

The doctor began to whimper – like a beaten dog – shrinking more and more into himself "P-Please, don't hurt me! I'll do it! I swear, I will do it! But please leave my family out of this!"

Y/N stopped in her tracks and smiled in satisfaction "Tell me, if I were the king, how would you tell me the 'bad news' of my queen being unable to conceive more children?"

The man stopped shaking for a second or two, thinking through his words, before he said "I am terribly sorry, Your Majesty, to announce that your wife is unable to conceive children."

"And if he asks why?" Is almost what she would've said, but she only said "Why?"

"Due to previous miscarriages her organs have gone through some kind of trauma. The stress of having lost her children so often now is taking a toll on her uterus and makes it impossible to produce functioning cells for reproduction."

Y/N glanced at Miles, who nodded at her. She had no clue how realistic this sounded, so having Miles there and reassure her that it's sounding realistic has her heart slow down in relief just slightly.

"I will now leave the room and head for my own chambers. You will head for the king in about ten minutes and tell him the news. If you slip up just a bit, I will have you hanging in the garden of your family's home."

The man nodded hastily "Of course, Your Majesty."

Y/N glanced at Miles once more and nodded, before she then turned around and left the room to head to her own chambers, as she had told the doctor she would do.

Let George find her here. Let him find her grieving.
