"I'll get this letter out for you, so you don't have to worry about how to get it away," Washington said and Jay flashed him a relieved smile "Thank you, sir."

After he saluted, he left the tent. Right on his way out he ran into Mulligan.

"Wow, careful there," Mulligan said and then added something. It was quiet, so Jay had to strain himself to understand him, but when he did, his blood ran cold.

"Princess."

Jay stared up at Mulligan with wide eyes, his face completely drained from color. "What are you talking about?", he asked and quickly blinked, raising a brow, trying to get off of that subject.

"I'm a spy, Jay, and when I walk past this tent and hear your voice talking about telling your brother in law off, talking about your honor or whatnot, it's not hard to jump to conclusions," Mulligan stated.

Jay gulped, trying to think of how to get out of this, when he finally said "Please don't tell anyone, especially Laurens! Please!"

Mulligan nodded and said "I will. If you tell me where that scar on your ring finger comes from." Jay pressed his lips to a small line and reluctantly nodded, even though he wasn't very fond of telling the story.

"Let's get back to the tent, then," Mulligan said and together the two of them headed off. Jay kept on wondering on how to tell the story, how to start the story, and whatnot.

When they arrived in the tent, Laurens sat on his bed. When his and Jays' eyes met, Jay felt a blush creep up his neck again and he quickly averted his gaze. Laurens also looked away and got up, speed walking out of the tent. Mulligan didn't even ask if anything had happened between them again.

As Jay sat down, Mulligan watched him, waiting for the short soldier to start his story.

"The burn scar is a product of me having rejected the ring of marriage at first. I was young, you see, and I didn't understand many things, but I knew that I didn't want this to happen to me at the age of eleven. As a result, I was burned there, as a reminder that disobeying the British royal family has its consequences and that they can do whatever they please."

Mulligan watched Jay in silence, as the auburn haired royal pulled his knees to his chest and propped his chin on his knees.

"So you're here to keep yourself hidden from your family in Britain," Mulligan spoke up and Jay nodded "Yes."

"Don't you have any other family to return to?", he asked and Jay shrugged "I don't know. My father took me from my mother and my brothers when I was ten and took me to Britain. He disappeared months after I was betrothed, not even appearing to the wedding."

"Don't you remember your brothers' names?", Mulligan asked out of curiosity, but Jay shook his head, paused, then said "I'm not sure." "Even if you're not sure, tell me,"

"I think Alex and Jamie."

Jay watched the bulky male as his eyes went wide for a moment and he was about to say something, when someone burst into the tent and said "Mulligan, lets get to town and to a bar, I need a drink."

The two of them turned their eyes to the intruder and found Laurens, a grumpy look on his face as he glared at Jay.

"Sure. Edmunds, co-" "Stay here, we don't want you," and with that Laurens exited the tent, leaving behind a baffled Mulligan and a sighing Jay. Mulligan looked at Jay and looked like he was considering something, but Jay said "Don't worry. Go ahead, have fun."

Mulligan sent him a concerned glance, before he then left the tent.

Late in the evening, as Jay was about to get to sleep, laughter outside the tent made him look up. Seconds later Mulligan and Laurens entered the tent, drunker than Jay had ever seen someone.

He said nothing as the two of them headed to their field beds. Mulligans' screeched under the sudden weight of the bulky male, but the snoring that came from his bed was just a tick louder than the bed.

Jay let out a soft chuckle and turned onto his back, only to jump slightly in surprise when he saw Laurens towering over him.

As Laurens got onto Jays bed, straddling him, Jay already felt the heat rush into his ears. Laurens propped his hands on either side of Jays head and smiled down at him.

"Who allowed you to be so attractive, you damn Brit..." Laurens purred and leaned down, the smile having a seductive hint to it. It was more of a seductive smirk, as he watched Jay turn his head away.

Laurens laid a finger under his chin and pushed his face back to look into his face. "You remind me so much of Alex...but you...you're free for me to take," Laurens whispered into Jays ear and he could feel his hot breath hit his neck.

Jays eyes widened at Laurens' remark and he went to try and push him off, but in the blink of an eye Laurens had Jays hands pinned over his head. "Free for me to take," John murmured, before he began to press a trail of kisses to Jays neck and jawline, trailing a way to the shorter ones' lips.

Jay tried to struggle against the freckled male, but his grip on his hands was to tight and he sat on Jays lower abdomen, giving him no chance of kicking him in the balls to get him off.

Finally, Jay gave up struggling, the moment Laurens pressed his lips to Jays. His eyes widened, but as he saw then, Laurens' eyes were closed. Jay felt his heart pick up speed and he frowned, once more trying to, uselessly, struggle against the freckled man, but he already knew he had lost. For now, that is.

Laurens pulled back and stared down at Jay, whispering "Alex is such an asshole to choose that Schuyler when he had me right here. But thats okay. Now, I have you."

Laurens kissed Jay again. Jay felt pity for Laurens, he saw the sorrow in his eyes, when he had first broken apart from the kiss to talk to Jay. And so, Jay gave the struggle up for good and gave into the kiss.

Giving John at least some salvation.
