He'd agreed to more of what he and Kyung-mi seemed to be doing, whether it was just harmless friendly touching, or something that was leading into something more on the romantic side, Kyung-mi definitely took advantage of the fact that he was now tolerating it, sitting right up next to him and leaning on his shoulder, squeezing his hand tightly when Taehyung and Jimin came home, pulling him upstairs and hiding in her room with him, cuddling up close to him and quietly giggling with him when she got them to believe she was alone in her room. Kyung-mi had probably wanted someone to bond with for a while now, needed someone to be with all the time to distract her from all that life had taken from her.
And He did too.
He couldn't even convince her that sneaking out of school during lunch was bad for her, not when even Mrs. Park would say that this was the happiest she'd seen her in a long time, not when all she did was run to Jin and Namjoon's apartment to pick him up and go on walks where he'd show her something new each time, where they'd explore the city, or go to the park and scare all the kids away at first, but have them playing with them within an hour. It was heaven. Yoongi felt he was someone almost totally different, he hadn't even thought of his mother, or Jae-hwa, or the fact he might be insane. He hadn't wanted to start a fire and watch the world burn. It was different.
Until she called.
It was right when he woke up--worse, it had woken him up. The call was brief, it was to the point, it was a list of demands, and it didn't need to be explained to him what the consequences were to not listening to these demands. They weren't the same as they usually were, with exposing him and turning him over to his mother. The problem with Jae-hwa was that as dumb and bimbo-ish she acted on the outside, she wasn't a complete fool always, she could just manipulate people into thinking this way about her, and if Yoongi had ever doubted this ability in Jae-hwa, it was absolutely confirmed when she brought up Kyung-mi.
Not just casually, she used her as a threat, If he didn't do this, it was her who would get hurt, and Jae-hwa knew just the buttons to push, her exact words at that moment were and are forever burned into his skull.
"Yoongi-bear, you know, you've been increasingly deviant," She said as if suddenly a college professor, "I think we need to remind each other who is in charge, hmm?" She laughed casually sipping what was probably some kind of latte, "I believe you're dating a little psycho-chick, ri-i-i-ight? My new toy is always itching to get in my pants, and I don't think he'd really care who's, your girl would be perfect don't you think? She's so ditzy I don't think she'd remember or care you know? it would be so, so easy to just...." Jae-hwa paused, like this was a deep wonderful fantasy she'd thought about fondly for days, and she whispered, "Switch her pills a bit, dra-a-ag her to a closet, take off all her clothes...."
He couldn't listen anymore, he hung up, he was shaking in rage and fear and had almost thrown up by that point.
It was early, not as the crack of dawn or anything, but it was early enough to be too early for Yoongi, but either way, he was out the door, pulling a flannel on, his hair a mess, clothes put on less than a minute ago and just as messy. He didn't care, he wasn't even going to do what she wanted anyway, he wasn't aiming to impress.
When he had gotten to the school grounds, it was a little after lunch, everyone was outside for gym, and he was shoving past many an innocent bystander to get to that bitch. That goddamn bitch. He couldn't even put faces or sex or anything to the people he was shoving away to get to her, his mind was on a single destructive track and it wasn't about to change until he saw her there, wearing hardly anything as usual to gym, though she never planned on exerting more energy than what it takes to point to boys and girls and compare them in their gym clothes.
"What do you mean by that, Jae-hwa?" Yoongi asked, as calm as he could muster, and the immediate people closest to him took a step back, the calm in his voice obviously faked and forced, so he gave up on the diplomacy and said it frank, "What the hell do you mean?"
Jae-hwa's reply was that of an exasperated parent, sick of her child asking very obvious and simple questions they knew the answer to, "Poor baby Yoongi, exactly what I said, We're through. Get over it already."
Yoongi wanted to roll his eyes, she was putting up a cute act, as if she didn't already know he didn't give a rat's ass about her or the state of their relationship. This was why he thought Jae-hwa was smarter and more manipulative than everyone thought, she had already come up with something to defuse the situation in the school's eyes, something to make anything and everything he said next trivial and probably false and made up. She knew exactly what to do, exactly what to say.
If it was going to be a private matter, Yoongi could play too, "Not that. everything else." he said, almost through his teeth he was so angry.
"Awww, Yoongi-bear, you don't care about our break up? Ouch." She straightened up, "Listen, either you take it or you don't, but I know you need it." she mouthed, "or else", and her eyes cut over to a some people in the crowd, and she gave a very subtle wink. It was like the devil giving him a little wink to let him know his soul was on the line.
Yoongi followed the gaze, seeing Kyung-mi, sitting amongst the crowd, then his eyes found That Pumpkin head, Taehyung, along with his deaf girlfriend, and Jimin along with the gay kid, Jungkook. She went over this on the phone, he knew what she wanted. He groaned and focused his attention to Taehyung, going over a small battle with himself before his gaze drifted to Hana.
In level of priority, Kyung-mi, he noticed was highest, at least to him. The consequences Jae-hwa had put forth for not following her was deadly for Kyung-mi, damaging physically and mentally for Kyung-mi, and he couldn't let that happen to her, not after she had put so much trust in him, told him her secrets, bonded with him. He didn't want to, but he was dealing with the devil, and the devil always needs a soul.
"You." Yoongi said, pointing to Hana, "Come here before I go over there and knock your teeth out of your pretty little mouth."
He watched Taehyung go on the immediate defense, grabbing her hand and frowning at Yoongi, not understanding, and Yoongi couldn't say he understood either.
The fighting spirit, however, didn't come from Taehyung, but instead Jimin, who apparently was partial to beatings, "What?! That's it! You're not doing a damn thing until you go through me first, you Jackass!!"
Jungkook was the first to pull him back, though he was barely able to, "What did Hana do to you anyway? She's fucking deaf! Jae-hwa's the one who broke up with you, don't take it out on Hana!"
Yoongi wished it was actually just about Jae-hwa breaking up with him, but the truth was, they were never really together, so it didn't hurt anymore, not with Kyung-mi with him, and Kyung-mi's health was on the line. You don't understand, none of you do....none of you can, I sold myself for money. "This isn't about that." He said and cracked his knuckles, hoping somehow he could just separate himself from his body, "ugh, I don't feel like this." He said, a tint of sorrow in his voice as he approached a wide-eyed and scared deaf girl who was always a victim and probably had no idea why.
"Suga!"
He paused, feeling arms wrap around his waist and a familiar warmth, and he felt his heart shatter. How must this look to her? I look like a fucking criminal, I look like an abusive, horrible person. He looked down at the hands grabbing on tightly to his shirt, the arms holding onto his waist for dear life and felt a horrible pang in his heart.
Kyung-mi spoke against his back, "You're going to far! You can't--."
Yoongi grabbed her wrists, cutting her off and shoved her away, not wanting the guilt trip when he was just trying to protect her. "Stay out of it. Kyung-mi, mind your own damn business for once."
"Suga, Please....stop..." Her voice was so desperate, so sad, her eyes searching his for reasoning for this, from her perspective it must not make any sense at all why he woke up suddenly and decided to do what Jae-hwa asked suddenly.
He was going to cry, a weakness he only allowed with Kyung-mi, and he stared at her, standing over her and feeling like someone he wasn't, then he turned to Hana, "Either run, or take it, I don't care."
"Yoongi." Taehyung said, angry, looking up at him.
Yoongi stared back at him like he was a bug, but inwardly he hoped Taehyung stood up to him and knocked him unconscious, just so he wouldn't have to do this, but Taehyung didn't follow up, so he had to egg him on. "Well, come on, bitch, stop me. Oh, but you can't, because you can't take a punch. You sure as hell can't throw one." He chuckled, a soulless chuckle as he got right up to his face, and Taehyung wouldn't make eye-contact.
"Stop..." His deep voice said, barely above a whisper.
"Aah, why?"
"Just stop."
"I should listen to you then?" Yoongi asked, scratching his head nonchalantly, pushing Taehyung's limit. Taehyung was bigger than Yoongi, he shouldn't be this intimidated of a smaller person such as he was, "You know best then? You think everything should run in this happy playland where's everything's perfect and no one has any problems, and that everyone who ever did something good should have something good happen in return?" Yoongi was talking to himself, this anger he was bringing out for Taehyung was for him and he knew it, "You live in a nice dream, a fantasy, if you think just asking is going to mean one goddamn." That part was for Jae-hwa, and the anger was so pent up, he pulled his fist back, and gave Taehyung a hard right punch across the face, full force.
Next thing he knew, Taehyung was on the ground, holding his cheek, looking up at him in surprise, Hana had made a noise much like a scream, the school was gathering around, wanting a fight. Yoongi heard nothing but a steady beep, like a heart monitor after someone dies, a constant and overpowering noise, and he squinted, thinking somehow that would make it go away.
He looked down at Taehyung, full of a sort of disdain, why wouldn't he just fight him? get up, fight me, FIGHT ME. He pulled Taehyung up by the collar, "Pumpkin head, You piss me off, you're going to tell me to stop, and then just let me beat you up, huh? Why the hell are you so naïve? Why the hell are you such a whiny pushover? You're just going to pick a fight and sit there and take it?! You spineless, weak, crazy little bitch..."
Taehyung couldn't even make eye contact with him then, looking down at Yoongi's hands, gripping his collar tightly, though he was choking and looking down like that didn't help. By this point, all his classmates wanted a fight, they wanted to see this kid's blood hit the pavement, one way or another, and though his friends still wanted to help him, Taehyung was ultimately alone, and he had to realize that by now.
Taehyung, ever the fucking pacifist, decided now was the time to make deals, "I....I don't want to fight, Yoongi..." His wide almond-shaped eyes looked right into Yoongi's for a moment, pleading, trying to appeal to him somehow, and Yoongi would have just let him go if not for Jae-hwa watching.
"You're gonna get beat then, pumpkin head, I don't give a shit." Yoongi punched him again, releasing his collar so he'd fall to the ground and it would look like he hit him harder than he actually had. The crowd liked it though, and Hana screamed.
Yoongi could see obvious reactions to trauma, Taehyung was shaking, staring at his own blood on the pavement as if looking through it, seeing more inside of the droplets, he was shaking his head almost as if communicating with whatever he saw in that droplet, and Yoongi made A realization. Taehyung might not have been crazy, not on his surface, not even seriously enough to need medication, but whatever that was done to him, had damaged him, he'd never be the same again...
"Get up, Pumpkin head." Yoongi said, tone even, trying to somewhat keep Taehyung grounded enough to at least stage this fight, but that wasn't working, so he tried a little more aggressive, "Ugh, get up, pumpkin head! Stop Goddamn laying around!"
Taehyung looked up at Yoongi, obviously having no intention to fight him, and Yoongi swore under his breath. If he didn't get in the way, then there was nothing stopping him from hurting the deaf brat.
But the deaf kid had other plans, running over and putting herself between him and Taehyung, and Yoongi wished she had done anything but that. Anything but that. She'd been crying, her eyes red and puffy, worrying over him had finally become too much.
"The deaf one steps up Finally...." He mumbled, not happy about this, but she wasn't about to move on anyone's account. Taehyung was just as shocked, and this was obviously not what he wanted. "Jesus, you're all so lost with reality.." He rolled his eyes, going over his own predicament more than the present situation, and grabbed a fistful of the deaf girl's hair, "Honestly...the two of you going back and forth...it's ridiculous.."
She yelped and screamed, and it didn't take much to realize, it wasn't just Jae-hwa, it was everybody. Not one person here gave a rats ass about anyone else, and he couldn't get through to any particular person, this was it, he'd have to hurt not just a girl, but a deaf girl, a girl he didn't even know, and he couldn't just walk out of this.
Then it happened. A swift right hook connected with his jaw and it sent him careening back, holding his jaw and looking up in surprise, there was even a small trickle of blood. It was so fast he didn't even register the pain or the sound of anything else until he saw Taehyung run away and he heard Jae-hwa behind him, frantically dialing the police and going on about there being an assault.
Yoongi got why Taehyung had taken off now, it was chaos, besides obviously being the one who punched him, kids all over starting their own little fights, and the stress he experienced from just his own blood was enough to make him shake, what would this much violence do to him?
Yoongi took that opportunity to run as well, no particular direction, just wanting to get lost in the crowd, he wasn't sure if the police call was for him or Taehyung, or just in general because of the many fights breaking out, but he wasn't going to stick around to find out, and when he heard the sirens coming, he had never felt more like a criminal, more like an oddity, more like what he had done was wrong.
He wanted to die. This wasn't what he wanted anymore.

I hate that wattpad takes my work from my computer (since there's too many distractions with me writing on the site lol) and squishes it all together into one big paragraph, oooooof
