"Glad we're indoors. sounds like a storm out there."
Rose Tyler, The Impossible Planet

They walked through the new hallways, Penelope just ahead, ignoring her friends' conversation. Walking forward, she traced the writing on the walls.

"Welcome to hell." The Doctor laughed, watching her from the doorway.

"Oh come on, it isn't that bad." She rolls her eyes, putting her hand out behind her, knowing he would take it. When he did, she dragged him forward, pointing out the writing.

"Idiot. It says 'welcome to hell'. And I don't know about you but that can't be good." He nods along with her, not wanting to be slapped when he spotted a section of text that wasn't translating.

"Hold on, what does that say?" He squinted at it and then frowned, concerned. "That's weird, it won't translate." Rose and Penelope gave each other a worried look, that can't be good either.

"But I thought the Tardis translated everything, writing as well. We should see English."

"Exactly. If that's not working, then it means this writing is old. Very old. Impossibly old. We should find out who's in charge." He moves, pulling Penelope with him, to a bulkhead, like the one they had passed through earlier. Together they spun the wheel, and waited for it to open. "We've gone beyond the reach of the Tardis' knowledge. Not a good move. And if someone's lucky enough-" A robotic voice interrupted him and the door opened, having the three come face to face with a group of aliens. The Doctor laughed nervously, trying to pull Penelope back behind him, her proximity to danger was causing his brain to short circuit. She smiled, ready to cover his back.

"Sorry about that, we were just saying what a lovely base you had." The white balls in their hands flashed, the group of them staring down the three intruders.

"We must feed." Penelope's smile faltered and the Doctor managed to pull her back as she started to panic a little.

"Right- I'm sorry, what?"

"We must feed."

"Yeah. I think they mean us." Penelope scoffed at the younger girl.

"Nice observation Rose." Recently they had started to bicker over small things, to them it was harmless fun but the Doctor was going mad at them. It was one of the reasons they kept going, it felt nice - to the both of them - to have a sister figure after being an only child for most of their lives.

"I know Penny, that's why I made it." The Doctor dragged Penelope away, the blonde girl following them both. More of the same alien entered the room and so they armed themselves. The Doctor had his sonic, Rose picked up a chair and Penelope managed to break off part of the metal railing. They slowly got closer chanting 'we must feed' over and over and over again. It felt like they were being taunted. One of them stepped a little close and they wielded their weapons higher.

"We must feed." It looks down and taps the globe in its hand. "You, if you are hungry." Penelope felt herself laugh involuntarily.

"I'm sorry?" It bows towards her and the three people slowly lowered the weapons they had fashioned themselves.

"We apologise. Electromagnetics have interfered with speech systems. Would you like some refreshment?" The three of them stumbled over their words, not really expecting to be alive right now. Luckily, a door opened and a group ran in, led by a man, who was immediately stumped by their presence.

"What the hell? How did-" The man shook his head and spoke into the device on his wrist, walking up to the trio. "Captain, you're not going to believe this. We've got people. Out of nowhere. I mean, real people. I mean three living people, just standing here right in front of me." A man's voice came from the device, tinged in disbelief.

"Don't be stupid, that's impossible." He laughed, not quite believing himself.

"I suggest telling them that." Penelope smiled at him, not understanding why having visitors was such a big surprise.

"Sorry, but this is definitely some kind of space base. Having visitors can't be that big of a shock." He looks at her confused.

"You're telling me you don't know where you are?" The Doctor smiled, throwing an arm around his ginger companion.

"No idea. More fun that way." There was a voice over a tannoy, and the sound of a 'quake point five', whatever that was, did not sound inviting. Nor did the blaring alarm and shaking building, so they quickly followed the man, who was beckoning them through a door.

"Through here, now. Quickly, come on! Move!" Racing through the corridors, several things above their heads began to spark and explode, making the Doctor duck down a little more and pull Penelope up next to him. The man continued to rush them along. "Move it! Come on! Keep moving. Come on! Quickly! Move it!" They raced into the room, stunning the rest of the crew in the station. The more surprised faces they were met with the greater the pit of nervousness grew in Penelope. One of the men looked over,

"Oh, my God. You meant it." Penelope smiled over at a blonde woman, who looked at them with hesitant excitement and a lot of trepidation. She waved slightly, really hoping they don't think they're going insane.

"People! Look at that, real people!"

"That's us. Hooray!" Penelope nods along with him, standing a little closer after seeing some of the other looks they were getting.

"Uh-yeah, definitely real. My name's Penelope. This is the Doctor and Rose Tyler." A man got up and walked over to them, disbelief across his entire face. He touched her shoulder lightly before claiming that they were real. The Doctor watched him closely and waited to see if Penelope had any reaction, but she just smiled as they took it all in. The man at the console took control again, clearly not liking that everyone was sort of standing around whilst alarms blared.

"Come on, we're in the middle of an alert! Danny, strap up. The quake's coming in! Impact in thirty seconds! Sorry you three, whoever you are. Just hold on, tight." Rose looked around confused, what was there to hold on to?

"Hold on to what?"

"Anything. I don't care. Just hold on. Ood, are we fixed?" They started to talk amongst themselves whilst the three of them looked for something to hold onto. The Doctor and Rose went to two parts of the railing, so Penelope looked for somewhere she could go. The timer counting down sort of pulled her into the reality of the situation, and she doesn't even know what that is. The Doctor, luckily, grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her up to the railing he was on, sensing her rising panic. Looking at the metal bar, there wasn't much room. She waited for him to look at her, aware that there wasn't much time.

"There isn't much room for the both of us, I can go somewhere else." He shakes his head and moves over, giving the woman more room.

"I don't know where we are, or what is happening, I'd rather keep you close." She blushed lightly - which was absurd considering the situation - and held on tighter. They also managed to step a little closer to each other. Trying to ignore this fact, the Doctor shouted over the alarms.

"What's this planet called, anyway?" One of the women looked at him as if he were insane.

"Now, don't be stupid. It hasn't got a name. How could it have a name?" It felt like the two of them could see the realisation that they had actually had no idea where they were. "You really don't know, do you?"

"And impact!" The whole place shakes for a few seconds, it didn't feel like enough for how much they had advised holding onto something. The Doctor stepped away from the railing when it stopped, and decided to open his stupid mouth.

"Oh, well, that wasn't so bad-" There was only a split second that Penelope had to drag him back to the pipe before he was thrown to the floor and she held the back of his blazer accusatorily.

"You had to go and jinx it!"
