Millie wakes up, her vision blurring and refocusing. She looks around and sees a room with stone walls and a yellow fluorescent light buzzing loudly. Before her sits a table with her revolver and her badge, she's cuffed to the chair.
"What?" Millie asks her voice raspy.
She hears a heavy door open behind her and sounds of footsteps. She feels a hand grasp her shoulder and Sebastian leans down and looks her in the eye,
"Morning Millie. How'd you sleep?" Sebastian smirks and walks over to the other side of the table, Uriel following close behind him, not saying a word.
"So, you're Ignis?" Millie asks and Sebastian shrugs and smiles.
"Listen, Millie, this isn't easy but you know too much. I'm sure you get it right? No hard feelings," Sebastian says, and Millie struggles against the restraints.
"I don't fit your M.O. Ignis, you can't kill me!" Millie shouts and Sebastian laughs.
"Maybe not mine, But you fit hers" Sebastian points to Uriel, and Uriel smirks.
"That's right! Purity, thou shalt not commit adultery" Uriel beams leaning in close and Millie's eyes widen.
"How do you know about him?" Millie asks and Uriel laughs patting her on the head.
"Aw, it's okay everyone has to die eventually," Uriel says condescendingly.
"What about Pacifism? Huh? Yeah, I researched these ten commandments, Thou shalt not kill, does that sound familiar to you?" Millie shouts and Uriel glares at her and stands up huffing.
"Obviously, but those rules only apply to humans. I am better than a human, I don't follow any law except the laws of nature. The strong survive and the weak... well..." Uriel flips open a pocket knife and grabs Millie's arm, carving into it.
Millie screams, thrashing around in her chair. Sebastian waits until Uriel is done and then stands up, takes one more look at Millie, and leaves the room. Uriel follows after and slams the door shut.
After a few moments, Millie smells the smell of smoke, as the room starts to slowly fill with thick fumes, Millie swears and starts to rock side to side on the chair, she slams into the ground with her full weight causing the chair to break and she frees her hands, the handcuffs dangling from one hand and she fishes for her keys, realizing they're not there she grabs a bobby pin from her hair and chews off the rubber, then she wiggles it into the handcuffs.
"Yes!" Millie screams as the handcuffs pop off and she brings her shirt to her mouth coughing as she runs to the door, tapping on the handle making sure it's cool enough, she grabs her revolver from the table and kicks the door open. A cloud of smoke filters into the room and she falls to the ground starting to crawl out of the room.
She crawls for what seems like an eternity until she feels a grate elevator, she pries the doors open and falls into it hitting the level one button as it begins the descent. She sighs in relief and checks her bullets, she sees four bullets loaded into her gun.
Strange, I usually keep it loaded with six. She thinks to herself, the fan in the elevator starts to spin as the fumes cycle out. The elevator reaches the ground floor and she steps out into a pitch-black room, she can only make out a table with a flashlight on it. She grabs the flashlight and flicks it on using it to scan the room.
The room appears old and abandoned, it seems like it used to be an old shoe factory judging by the conveyor belts littered with shoes. She scans the flashlight to the exit which is boarded up by metal plating, written across the metal plating are the words,
"Let's Play!"
"Fucking, freaks" Millie grumbles and continues to walk scanning her flashlight around for anything useful. She doesn't notice anything else and walks back to the elevator, only the sub-basement light is on. She sighs and presses the button as the elevator descends.
Damn...How long was I out? When did they have time to set this all up? And why...why not just kill me? Millie begins to go through everything that's happened and she glances at her watch.
9:49 PM
She sighs and the elevator reaches the sub-basement level. She steps off the elevator and shines her flashlight around. She continues down a long hallway, and she sees countless doors that are numbered 100-115, she carefully tries each door but they don't budge. She reaches the end of the hallway and sees a note on a table, she picks it up and reads,
"Only one of these doors leads to your freedom, the rest lead to your tomb. Do not enter a door unfamiliar to you, or you will spell your doom"
"What?" Millie says and groans flipping the page over and setting it down.
An unfamiliar door huh? So one of these numbers has to mean something to me, is that what they're saying? Millie thinks looking at each of the rooms, she notices all the doors are padlocked, she kneels down and fishes for her bobby pin, realizing she left it behind.
"Shit" She stands up and looks at her revolver popping out the bullets, engraved on each one is the word,
"Life -1"
Life minus one? What does that even mean? Millie thinks and puts the bullets back, she turns to the doors and taps her chin.
100,101,102,103,104,105,106....Wait 106. Millie bites her lip and turns to room 106 walking up to the door.
Yeah, this is the room number when I cheated on Dan. Yeah... this has to be it. Millie thinks while looking down at the carvings on her arm.
Millie steps back and shoots the lock off the door, flinching slightly as she steps into the room, shining her light and holding her gun ready to fire at the slightest movement. She knocks on the light switch and the lights in the room spark to life. Millie clicks her flashlight off and looks around the room. She sees a briefcase and a locked trap door.
She holsters her gun and grabs the briefcase slowly opening it and looking inside, there's three tiny boxes and a tiny key. She opens the first box and inside is a shotgun slug labeled
"Judgement"
She opens the second box that has a sucker, and the third box has a small folded note, she knows better than to eat the sucker so she reads the note,
"You will see our truth and our purpose, sometimes the law limits us. Remember don't fall into old habits, it can kill"
Millie crumples the paper and throws it to the ground, she hops in the trap door ready for whatever else awaits her.
