' Yeah, mom...........OKAY...... Alright.... Alright!'
'Blue, are you even listening ?'
'Yeah, Yeah...... I'll repeat it.'
'Let me see, then'
'You want me to pick you up at 7 in the morning.'
'Yeah, good' she said in a motherly tone.
'See ? I am listening to each and every word'
'that's good and all, but have you still not reached your apartment ? What's the time?'
'Uh, its going to be 12. Its alright, mom my apartment's only some blocks away.'
'Young man, you've been repeating the same thing for the past 15 minutes!'
'I am almost there'
'Son, cherish every moment of this independence for this isn't gonna last for long'
'Yeah....Bye'
'Bye, take care and don't forget to brush your teeth'
'MOM, i am not a kid anymore, BYE'
'Goodnight, Blue'
He hung up and sighed deeply. He loved his mom but she could be irritating at times, repeating the same thing in five different languages. She was coming to Paris to help him in adjusting in this foreign city and to cheer him up. Her flight was to land the following morning.
He aimlessly flipped through the apps and switched his headphones to the song "25K magic". Stuffing his phone into the back pockets of his jeans.
He glanced at the dazzling Eiffel tower and smiled.
It was his dream to work with the best and now he was going take down another name off his bucket list. He couldn't be happier.
Dancing and singing along he jazzed through the french streets. Life felt good. The joy pulsated through his veins. He sang while trying to copy the signature dance moves of the song.
Outlining the street he took a left turn and scanned the street. There were many reports of thievery in the newspaper. His eyes halted on a shadow, which appeared to be of a man. The man was caressing a cat.
Sensing no visible danger, he stepped into the street. Realizing that his apartment was only few yards away, and with no success in finding the key in pockets. He dug his hand into the bag and walked under the nearest streetlamp to get a better look at it. His platinum blond hair shone under the lamp. several minutes later, he managed to find the key, but in the excitement of this successful search operation, the key fumbled out his hand and fell on the pavement.
There was a sudden gush of wind which left a spine chilling sensation in his body. He shuddered and picked up the key. As he stared at the end of the street he noticed that the shadow of the man was now moving in his direction. The man was wearing a black cloth that covered most of his face. Feeling uncomfortable The boy fastened his pace as he could sense the mysteriousness in the atmosphere. On approaching the boy, the man blocked the his path, the boy tried to communicate his concern to the masked man but in vain. He tried to gesture the man to step aside, instead the man said something in french.
Suddenly two hands wrapped around the boy's arms, he turned his face to see two more masked man. Both were tall and muscular. They pinned him against the stone wall and the third man snatched the bag and held it upside down, making its contents fall onto the pavement. The third man pushed a stash of 500 euros into his pockets, that fell out of the bag and searched for more.
While, the two muscular thieves had punched several times into the boy's chest, fracturing his collar bone. The boy's badly injured lower ribs were causing sharp and severe pain, he crumbled on the ground and screamed. But he couldn't see anyone, he wanted to scream again but the pain crushed his vocal cords. This didn't stop the thieves from kicking him as he crumbled in pain. With no one nearby to save him, the pain felt as though swords were trying push their way through his chest.
'Just when things were going so well. I should've been prepared for this. Something or the other has to always ruin everything in the end' the boy thought, while crying in pain.
Then all of a sudden, a shadow appeared from the other end of the street. The boy looked at the shadow and whispered 'Help me'. The boy cried for help but his expectation vanished on realizing that the shadow was of a girl.
'Go and get help' cried the boy.
On hearing this, the girl sprinted to the boy and lowered her face to whisper 'shut the fuck up'.
He was expecting something like a punch, as her voice sounded murderous but instead the girl walked towards the thieves, who seemed busy in filling their pockets with the remaining things. The boy closed his eyes because he couldn't see a girl getting beaten in order to save him. 'With the rate of increasing violence against women' he thought,I can't.
But boy, that girl could kick as! She looked more or less like Black Widow. Her moves were so swift, the thieves couldn't even touch her. Her flame-red hair glowed like flames. She picked up one of the thieves by his jacket, and banged his head against the stone wall. He howled but she mercilessly drilled punches into his stomach, as though trying to make him vomit out his intestines, leaving him to writhe in pain. She dragged the other two thieves together and kicked and punched them in places one couldn't even dream of.
After several minutes of ass-kicking, she walked over to the platinum blond-haired boy, who looked badly injured. She sat down, beside him and called the police and the ambulance. Stuffing her phone into the hand bag, she fixed her sitting posture and sat folding her knees. She stared into the starry night.
She wanted the ambulance to come soon but since she couldn't hear the sirens so she picked up the platinum blond-hair boy and made him sit on the nearby stairs. The boy seemed to have regained consciousness as his blue eyes were fixed on his hands, which were soaking with sweat and blood. The girl pulled her hair into a bun and gave a forceful smile. Noticing the silence, she started talking to him in fluent French. But on noticing a confused look on his face, she laughed loudly and apologized in English. It had a hint of French accent but, was comprehensible.
The boy nodded as a sign of comprehension, he squinted to get a better look of her face but it was too dark. Her hair was the only visible feature. He opened his mouth to speak but his voice was layered with the distant noise of ambulance sirens.
The girl sighed, looking relieved she picked up her bag. She had noticed that the boy had turned pale due to the significant lose of blood. Reassuring him of speedy recovery, she ruffled his hair as a sign of departure and sprinted into the dark street. The boy's eyes ran with her shadowy figure and as she vanished into the dark night, then he rested his eyes on his lap. He was perplexed, who was she? , why did she save him? So many questions that rose in his mind, were left unanswered. But before he could process all that had happened, he was ambushed by police officers. He wanted to know so many things but his brain was too exhausted to do anything and he fell unconscious.
