The Giver
I out my shirt back on, feeling weird. It's not just because of the drugs, it's because I didn't want to do this with Jake. I hate it every time.
"No, seriously, need a ride home now?" Jake asked.
"Take me to this address." I handed him the paper Sally gave me.
"Jay's? Why are you going over to his?"
"I have to work on a project with his little sister."
"I forbid you from talking to him." Jake replied.
Forbid? You can't forbid someone to talking to someone else. If it happens, it happens. And it's going to happen. I can't believe Jake is being like this. Acting like he's jealous. He probably doesn't even care.
He dropped me off at Jay's and didn't even kiss me goodbye. He was very rude on the ride over here. Going on about how if I talk to Jay, I'm a slut. If that isn't abusive I don't know what is. I knocked on the door and Sally answered. She let me in. We went to her room. Which was very artsy. She had drawings hanging up, I think she did them herself. They were really good, I hate to admit.
"Got any books you like?"
"You really out here asking if I read?"
"We'll do my favorite book, The Giver."
"Sounds like charity work."
A little time has past and I was really getting into this book. Could you imagine a world where no one's different. There wouldn't be a head cheerleader and star football player. Losers and popular. I would probably be friends with Sally.
I jumped up, "you know what we should do?"
"Continue working on our project." She replied.
"No! Give you a make over." I smiled.
Sally gave me a weird look, "why?"
"Come on, it'll be fun. I'm sure you have something in your closet."
I ran over to her closet and started looking through her clothes. I stopped and gasped. Some of her clothes are actually cute. I pulled out and outfit and she gave me another look. I pulled out her 1 and only pair of heels.
"Try this!" I handed her the clothes.
She sighed and grabbed the clothes. She went into her bathroom. When she came out, she was wearing high waisted yellow shorts, a brown and yellow striped cropped tank top, gold earrings and her black heels. Sally looked stunning.
"Can I do your make up! You look killer in that outfit by the way."
"No and thanks." Sally looked miserable.
I sighed, "you can change. I was just trying to have fun."
"No, it's okay. I surprisingly kind of like this outfit. Would've never thought to pair this shirt with shorts."
I wasn't too surprised when she said that. I'm a fashion guru, so I have talent. Sally actually looked so popular, she could've almost taken my spot as queen bee. That's crazy to even think, but with some make up, should would be stunning.
I told her I was hungry and she said to help myself. So I got up and walked out of her room. I bumped into Jay, who just got out of the shower. He was only wearing a towel. He just smiled at me.
"Didn't realize you were friends with my sister."
"We're working on a project together. I just wanted a snack."
"I got some cookies." He smirked.
I knew he meant special cookies. I was tempted, but I had to help Sally so I declined. He was really cool about it. Of course he would be. In the middle of our conversation, I got a text. From Jake. I rolled my eyes and looked at it. My head jolted to the window. I saw his car. He was spying on me. His text said, "stay away from Mr. shirtless."
"What?" Jay asked.
"Nothing. Where are the snacks again?"
"Downstairs and to the left." He put his hand on my shoulder.
I blushed and then my phone was blowing up. Instead of getting a snack, I went out to confront Jake. I was pissed to say the least. He got out of his car and looked just as angry as me.
"What did I say?"
"Jake. This is pathetic. You stalking me?"
"I'm just making sure you're safe."
"Leave. You're the worse." I said and walked back into the house.
I went back up to Sally's room. Jay was nowhere to be found. Which is fine, I guess since I know Jake is out there. What a creep. Now I can't even imagine breaking up with him. What will he do?
