Toddler Ghouls and Ghoulettes (Terzo)
Being Terzo's wife comes with a lot of responsibilities. First, becoming Mama Emeritus III was a month-long trial to prove your devotion to him. Second, baring the children of Emeritus. Third, raising all of the ghouls and ghoulettes that are summoned. Fourth, being a symbol of peace, unity, and love. So yeah, it was daunting. Secundo just took over as the main Papa of the church, Terzo's time was coming and you were terrified. Every clergy member understood the fates of the Papas who couldn't deliver the message to their liking.
"Mama?" A small voice drew you out of your dark thoughts, "Yes, Sunshine?" You respond, "Sodo won't stop being mean to me." She tugged on the skirt of your simple black dress. You look in the corner and see a toddler Sodo and Swiss wrestling over a toy train, "Sodo. Swiss." You gently scold. They look up at you with their wide eyes. Your heart melts at how their small horns were barely peeking out of their forehead. Before you know it they'll be all grown up, "You know we must share, and you know your sister likes the trains too. How about we all play with the train?" The three nodded quietly and started to place the wooden tracks together. You crouch down and start to hum the Thomas the Train Engine theme song. You did have a life before the church, and you wish you could take the ghouls and ghoulettes out side one day, "Mama what song are you singing?" A tiny Mountain asked moving to sit in the circle with his other siblings, "It's an old song from when I was a child." You say patting his head, "Wow! That must be from a long time ago!" An excited Cumulus said toddling over too, a shy Cirrus waddled behind, clinging to your arm, "Well, I'm not that old!" You say dramatically, all of the toddlers laugh, "Mama where is papa?" Aether asked, walking over to stand in front of the blue painted door with a little toy guitar. You smile and stand, walking over to the one ghoul who seemed too observant, "Papa will be here later," you pick him up, he starts to giggle, "You know he is a busy man" You start to tickle his sides and he giggles. You set him down and he goes to join the others.
Sitting in the corner, alone, but not sad was Rain. He was always bashful and shy, but usually would join his siblings in larger groups. You sigh, and walk over. He doesn't notice you standing behind him, so you sit beside him, "Hello Raindrop." You say softly so as to not alarm him. He finally navigates out of his mind maze and turns to you with the biggest smile, "Mama!" He reaches his arms out to you, you gently hug him and place him in your lap. He immediately curls into you. You hold his body with your left hand, stroking his chubby cheek with your right. He purrs at your touch and smiles more. His smile is always the biggest, you hope it never goes away.
After a moment or two, the church bells chime for eight o'clock. Terzo's late again. You try to not look disappointed, but he is missing out on family time. Aether can already play a g-cord, Cirrus sings like her mother, Rain started playing bass, and Swiss can do everything. Mountain has grown so much in the past week, he is up to your hip in height. HE IS FIVE. Plus you've been extending their bed time from seven to eight in hopes that their Papa would be able to play with them before they sleep. You know he can't help it, but still, "Alright my loves, bed time!" You were met with groans and complaints, "No complaining, sleep is how you grow! Come on ghoulettes first." All of the small creatures put their toys away and walked over to their beds, shaped like coffins of course, but they were painted pastel yellow, pink, blue, and purple. The boys turned their backs to face the wall while you helped the ghoulettes into their nightgowns. Sunshine's is yellow, Cirrus wears purple, and Cumulus wears blue. When they're finished you call for the boys, "Okay ghouls your turn." As usual, Sodo and Swiss rush to get to the front of the line, Aether stays back to let them fight, and Rain hides behind Mountain, "Sodo, you went first last night, it is Swiss's turn" The two line up accordingly. Their pajamas were pants and a shirt. Once each ghoul started to show interest in an instrument, Terzo bought them all pajamas that matched. Each pair was a light gray shirt with a print of their instrument on the front. The pants are black and have the same print but smaller. Swiss's has a tambourine, Sodo a white guitar, Aether's a matching guitar, but black, Mountain has a drum set, and Rain has a black and white bass.
Once everyone was dressed, you went around the room and tucked each child into bed with a kiss on the forehead. Starting with Cumulus in her blue bed, "Good night mi amor, dream sweet dreams" kiss. Cirrus's pale purple bed was your personal favorite, "Buona notte amore, sleep tight" kiss. Sunshine is a constant ball of energy, even when going to sleep, "Good night my little star" kiss. Aether's bed was painted red, "Good night il mio cuore" kiss. Sodo, still fuming from earlier, "Good night my tiny firecracker, ti amo" kiss. Swiss is all smiles, "Sleep well my love" kiss. Rain, already falling asleep, "My little Raindrop, sweet dreams." kiss. Mountain stayed standing, "Mountain, it is time for bed." You gently remind him. He looks up at you and tears flood his eyes,
"Oh no, mi amor what's wrong?" You sit on his bed and motion him to sit next to you. He slowly crawls into bed and wraps his arms around your neck. You squeeze him tight, "Tell me baby, what's upsetting you? Can mommy fix it?" He pulls his head back and stutters out, "I-I w-want Pa-Papa here" He starts hiccuping and crying more. You hug him back into your chest, gently shushing and rocking him until he calms down, "Papa loves you very much, you know his job is important and he is trying to be here more, okay? Mama will take care of you, mama is here." You hold him tighter to yourself, tears threatening to fall. Terzo will be heartbroken when he hears how his babies are asking for him and how they're becoming aware of this church's terrible ways. Eventually, Mountain wore himself out and he yawned, "Aww baby, get some sleep" You tucked him in, "Good night my flower, mama and papa love you very much" kiss.
You step back into the middle of the room, looking at all of your children laying soundly. You couldn't help but feel pity for them. Where was their father? Soon they'll be grown, touring with him. They'll live without you, but you raised them. Terzo was not an absentee father, in fact he was the best in the church, but his duties are piling more and more since Primo's...demise. He's been tense, serious, and somewhat cruel, he was not your Terzo. You sat down in the rocking chair, and Sunshine spoke up, "Mama? Are you singing my song tonight?" You smile at all of the little faces smiling back at you, "Of course mi amor."
Terzo called you his siren, and for good reason. You can sing beautifully. You always doubt how you sound, if you were pitchy, or if you said the words wrong, but no matter how you felt he showered you with praise.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
Little voices start to sing along quietly,
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Now the singing has stopped from the crowd, small sighs and snores can be heard from the beds,
Please don't take my sunshine away
You start to tear up, you pray to Satan every night that your husband and children are never taken from you. Their childhood fleets by more and more everyday, their innocence and bliss leave too. The church isn't all that it seems to be. Corruption is prominent, even in the Satanic Church. Terzo's death is not only a guarantee, but a must. You just hope that his work is for nothing and that your family will be reunited one day. Your thoughts were interrupted by the door creaking open slowly, and lo and behold. It was Terzo. He looked tired, his papa makeup smeared, miter off, robes less than neat, and overall just bad. Your look of anger at his lateness was interrupted with concern at his state. You quickly get up and shoo him out of the room.
You close the door and lock it behind you, your room is adjacent to their's. You both look at eachother quietly and walk into your room. Terzo being the gentleman he is opens the door for you. Once the door is shut, you turn to look at him, "Mi amor, are you alright?" You start to help him remove his robes, "Si, si, just exhausted mi cara." You could hear it in his voice that it was more than that. He saw you tense as you carefully put away his papal robes. As you shut the door you mumble, "Damn these unholy garments." You feel hands on your hips and lean back into the toned chest of your husband, "Mi amor, is that anyway to talk about my uniform?" You turn quickly with a stern look on your face, "Yes." You storm past him and start to undo your corset by yourself, "Mi amor, no, let me help." He goes to walk over to you, you bat his hand away undoing the rest of the corset and stepping out of the ball gown. You remove your bra and slip on an old t-shirt, "Y/n."
You stop storming around the room picking up random things and look at him in shock, he has not called you by your name in years, "What is bothering you. Please tell me. You are worrying me." He walked over to you and held your hands in his, "It's the kids." You start to tear up. You move to sit on the bed and gather your thoughts, Terzo sits beside you, still holding your hand, "They ask more and more about you and where you are. Aether is such a daddy's boy I catch him looking at the door waiting for you to walk in." He goes from looking in your eyes to looking at your hands, his face covered in shame, "Mountain cried tonight." He snapped his head up in shock. Mountain has only ever cried once and it was when you were playing with him and you cut your hand accidentally. He thought he hurt you, "He wanted you there, he looked scared. I don't know how to explain to them why you are not there." You feel the anger against all that will be taken burst out of you, you scream, "Because this GODDAMN CHURCH DOES NOTHING BUT KILL FOR THE SAKE OF SPREADING A MESSAGE THAT DOESN'T NEED TO BE AS BIG AS CHRISTIANITY OR CATHOLICISM. EVERYONE WHO FINDS THE CHURCH IS HAPPY. WE ARE HAPPY. WHY DO WE NEED TO CHANGE? FUCK EVERYONE FOR KILLING YOUR BROTHER, FUCK EVERYONE FOR BEING ABOUT TO KILL THE SECOND, and damn them for their plots to kill MY family, OUR family. For what? WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT?" You break down into tears and screams. Terzo moves quickly and holds you in his arms, you now sit in his lap, similar to how you held Rain about an hour ago. He stroked your cheek lovingly while whispering about how strong, beautiful, and an amazing mother you are. After a few minutes of calming down and silence, Terzo speaks up,
"Can I tell you the good news now?" You look in his eyes, "You've had good news this whole time?" He looks remorseful, "I didn't want to interrupt, I know how stressful your job is with the kids and being me rank wise in every single way throughout the church. You just clearly needed to get it out." You giggle at his kindness, "Go on." You say rolling your eyes at his clearly excited expression, "So...I've been working later on a project..." He wiggles his eyebrows, "Yes...." You urge on, "Secundo and I have found a way to revive the Papas." Your jaw drops, your world stops. You start breathing heavily, "Mi amor? Are you alright?" He holds you tighter to him instinctively, you start laughing between your sobs, Terzo looks mildly terrified now. You throw your arms around his neck, "Oh my Satan my prayers were answered." You mumble into his chest, tears now wetting his skin. Once you stop crying you lean back, wipe your eyes, and look at him, "I love you so, so, so much Terzo" You kiss him passionately. He leans back for a second, "I will never let our family part, you know that mi amor." You kiss again.
A quiet knock at the door stops you both. You rush to answer it, it's Mountain crying, "Oh my Satan. They know how to unlock the door" You mumble absentmindedly. Terzo walks behind you to see who's at the door. His eyes widened seeing Mountain, way taller than he last saw him. Mountain looked at his father and smiled instantly, "PAPA!" He shouted running into Terzo's arms. His father picked him up and spun him around, "Oh my little Mountain! Look how you've grown!" Mountain was laughing. Terzo set him down onto the floor and squatted to get eye level with his son, "What are you doing out? And how did you get out?" You kneeled next to your husband, "Well-I had a bad dream and...I just opened the door..." You look out into the hallway and see the doorknob broken off of the door, shattered. His abilities started coming in. Terzo and you share a glance, one of both admiration and sorrow. Now the real work begins.
