The church's state of repair is deteriorating day by day. The Heavens have attacked more constantly than ever before. Battles drone on for days and nights. The catacombs became the housing, hospital, kitchen, and everything in between. Aether's room was the only one not ransacked in the beginning of the war, so that was your guys's room. Aether, Swiss, Sodo, Rain, Mountain, and you have been fighting in the battles, and luckily are all alive, "When will this be over?" Rain groans, bandaging the large gash in his arm, "When men can be men, which is never." Aether scoffs, wiping blood off of his hand. You sit next to Sodo, exhaustion filling your bones. He notices your eyes fluttering open and shut, with your head lolling forward. 

Sodo wraps his arm around your shoulders, letting you lay on him, "It's okay, Y/n, you can sleep on me. I'll keep you safe." He whispers, you nod, the sleep already taking over. Swiss finishes up stitching Mountain's back, the poor earth ghoul was unconscious due to the pain. You start to whimper, hearing the battle upstairs still waging, "Shhh, it's okay, it's okay." Sodo comforted, gently running his fingers through your hair. You curl into his legs more. Sleep has become harder and harder. Images of ghouls and siblings being slaughtered cross everyone's mind on a never ending loop. Sunshine was one of the first to fall. She was overwhelmed by too many angels, Swiss tried to save her, but he was knocked out. He survived, but she didn't.

Once you fall asleep, Aether picks you up and places you on his bed. He then moves to sit with Sodo, Rain, and Swiss, "Guys, has anyone heard from Cumulus or Cirrus?" He asks, groaning while sitting down, his body aching. Mountain still laid on the floor, his breath steady, "Not since last week." Rain whispers, sleep starting to take over, "I'm going to see Cumulus. I can't stay away anymore." Aether says, standing again. Sodo stands and grabs his friend before he can leave, "Are you crazy? You could get killed up there." He says, Aether only looks down on him, "So can she. I need to see her." He pushes him off and leaves the room, slamming the door behind him.

You shoot awake at the loud sound, your eyes growing wide, and unsheathe your dagger, ready to fight. Sodo quickly rushes over to you, "Woah, woah easy, easy Y/n, easy." He slowly takes the knife from you and sits beside you, "We're in Aether's room, we're okay." He says, starting to pull you close to him. You wrap your arms around him, squeezing his waist, and crying into his chest. He held you, trying to comfort you the best he could, but one loud boom made everyone wake up and stiffen, even Mountain.

A few seconds later, Aether slammed open the door Cumulus behind him, "The church is burning, we have to get out." Rain and Swiss help Mountain stand, Sodo held your hand tight and had you lead him out. You look back at him, "You go in front of me, I'll protect you." Rain yells your name, causing you both to run and catch up with the group. The chaos in the halls caused you and Sodo to separate from the group, but you did make it out of the basement.

The overwhelming scent of smoke and ash filled the air, choking your lungs immediately. After all, you were only human, and previous injuries have taken their toll. Sodo noticed you struggling, but didn't mention anything. You followed the crowd through the halls. A loud snap of wood caused you and Sodo to look up, a flaming beam fell from the roof. Sodo pushes you out of the way, the beam falling on him. He curses as his left leg is crushed under the wood, the flames not hurting him due to his elemental powers,

"Sodo, Satan, don't move." You say, adrenaline blinding yourself to the ring of fire now surrounding you both, "No, no ,Y/n go." He says weakly, trying to not let the pain take over his logic. If he was bound to die this way, at least you were safe, "No, no. I'm not leaving you." You say, starting to try and lift the beam. Your first few attempts at lifting the heavy wood didn't work. You hear Sodo mumble, "I love you Y/n." Then his eyes closed, "NO SODO!" You scream, a new burst of strength fills you. The beam lifts off of him, you push it away. Your hands were raw and hot from the flames, but that didn't matter. You wrap Sodo's left arm around your shoulders, your other arm supporting him at his waist. The flames around you grow higher and higher, more and more pieces of wood fall. You suck in a breath and run through the flames blocking the door. You throw your body weight into the wood, the dark sky and fresh air a calming sensation compared to the inferno now behind you.

You keep moving forward, knowing that although your vision was fading, the farther away form the fire you got the better chance at getting help. You hear muffled screams of your name and see four people running towards you. You stop running and try to catch your breath, but to no avail, you start to feel light headed. Someone takes Sodo from your arms and someone else picks you up, "It's okay Y/n, you're both going to be okay." Swiss says, picking you up.

Swiss sprints with you in his arms while Aether carries Sodo. Cumulus, Rain, and Mountain run behind, "Take them both over here." Cumulus shouts over the ruckus. She leads the group into the woods. A small pentagram is carved into a tree. Cumulus stops running, holds her hand over the mark, chants something, and steps back. The tree opens, a purple and gold portal is now there, "Everyone go through." She commands, they do as she says.

 Once Mountain is in, she looks around then closes the tree trunk behind her, sealing off the portal. She walks out of the other side, the group looking disoriented and confused, "We're in Asmodeous's realm" she explains, moving to the cabinets in the corner, "Place them on the beds." Swiss gently lays you down, your eyes fluttering open and closed, "It's okay, it's okay now Y/n stay awake." He says. Your brain is in a fog, your sense of direction is off, conscious is fading in and out, but you would not fall asleep. Aether lays Sodo down, "I need your help with him later." Cumulus tells him, her mom voice coming out.

She moves over to you, "Okay, Y/n. You lost a lot of oxygen" She explains, slipping an oxygen mask over your face, "Take a few deep breaths with Swiss." The multi ghoul holds your hand, "Okay, breathe in" He inhales loudly, you follow, "And out." He says exhaling, "Keep going, Swiss." Cumulus urges, starting to take your vitals. He keeps talking you through it. Everyone freezes hearing a groan come from the other bed, Sodo woke up, "Y/n?...y/n." he groans starting to sit up. Mountain quickly took his friends hand and released calming energy into him. Aether kept one hand on his shoulder, pinning him gently to the mattress, "She's okay, she's right beside you, we're safe." Sodo only responds with a few whimpers, the pain from his shattered leg flaring up, "I'll be over in a second, Sodo. Just hold on." Cumulus says, rubbing aloe and bandaging your hands.

She quickly turns her attention back to Sodo, "Okay, Mountain, I need you to put him to sleep for a while." Mountain nods and manifests more energy into him, Sodo falls asleep in no time, "Thanks. Aether, cut his pant leg." Cumulus instructs, getting together some shots and medicines. He quickly cuts off Sodo's left pant leg, revealing the mess of bone and blood. He holds back a gag. Cumulus walks back over, "Shit. It's fucking destroyed." She mumbles, "If he wakes up, hold him down." She tells Aether he nods and holds down his shoulders. Cumulus takes the first needle and inserts it right above the crushed bone, about his upper thigh. His body jolts. She then grabs a tourniquet, and starts to tighten it around his leg, the blood loos becoming too much. She starts to tighten it, Sodo shoots awake, but Aether holds him down. Sodo screams in pain as she tightens it more and more. You look over at Sodo, withering under Aether and Cumulus, you go to sit, but Swiss pushes you back down, "He will be fine." He said, snapping your attention back to him, "Keep breathing with me."

Mountain walks over to Sodo and tries to calm him down again, but it only works for a second before he tries to fight off Aether again. Cumulus finishes the tourniquet and turns to Rain, "Rain go find Asmodeous's nurses. I need their magic." He nods and runs off. Only a few seconds pass before Rain comes in with two healers. The women surround Sodo's bed and start chanting something over his leg. The tourniquet disappears as his bone, tendons, and skin are repaired. Sodo grips onto Aether's shoulders, the pain overwhelming. You focus on not passing out with Swiss, trying to tune out Sodo's screams. Eventually, Sodo's screams die down, his leg is repaired, and your oxygen levels return to normal. Cumulus steps back, "Thank you guys, It was nice seeing you again." She says, hugging the two women. They quickly leave. 

She moves over to Aether, hugging him tightly, "Are you okay?" she asks, trying not to cry. He hugs her back, "I'm fine, I'm fine." He whispers, trying not to cry in relief himself. Rain spoke up, "Cumulus, have you seen Cirrus?" She nodded, pulling back from Aether slightly, "She was moved here, if you go ask another nurse they might be able to help." Rain runs off to find her. Mountain moves to sit in a chair against the wall, his stitches still burning.

You move slightly and flinch, "Did you burn your back too?" Swiss asks concern and panic fills his voice. Cumulus lets Aether go and hurries back to you, "Oh you little bitch, you did burn your back didn't you?" She laughs, you laugh weekly back, "I didn't realize." You defend, "Mountain, can you help me one more time, I promise I'll give you some pain meds." He stands, takes a second, then walks over, "Y/n, we'll help you but you have to sit on Mountain's lap, back facing us so that we can bandage your back." You nod weakly. Swiss and Aether help you sit up while Mountain sits in front of you. He gently picks you up under your arms and into his lap, your head resting on his shoulder.

"Take a deep breath." Cumulus instructs, you feel the needle at the bottom of your back. You inhale, she inserts the needle, you whimper slightly, "It's okay Y/n, It'll help you later." Mountain coos, trying to let more calming energy into the atmosphere, even though he was getting tired. You wrap your arms around his waist. The medicine started to work a little too well, and you fall asleep against him. Cumulus wastes no time, "Aether hold this." She hands him a bottle of aloe. She sits behind you, "Swiss hold this." She hands him the bandages. She takes the aloe from Aether and rubs some of the gel into her hands, she starts to gently place it over all of the burns, luckily they weren't too bad, "I need a towel." Cumulus says, finishing up with the aloe. Aether quickly grabs her a towel, "Thanks love." she wipes her hands and takes the bandages from Swiss, "Take the rest of their shirt off." She says to Mountain. Aether helps to keep you upright while Mountain pulls the singed, tattered cloth above your head. Cumulus then starts to wrap the bandages around your entire midsection, slowly, tightly, "Let them lay back." She commands, getting off of the bed. Mountain gently sets you back down onto the pillow then gets off the bed.

Cumulus walks over to him and hands him three white little pills and a small cup of water. He mumbles a thank you and takes the pills, instantly sighing at the pain relief. Sodo stirs a little more. He sits up, Cumulus rushes over to him, "Is Y/n okay?" he asks, "They are fine, They are sleeping." Aether helped Sodo sit up, "Do you want to try standing?" She asks, he nods, desperate to be by you, "Please, please." He begs, gripping onto Aether's arm. Aether looks at Cumulus, waiting for an answer, she nods, "Alright, come on." Aether grunts helping his friend stand. Swiss comes over and helps Sodo walk over to you, you're still sleeping. Cumulus drags over a chair, they help him sit. He holds your bandaged hand, "They're okay right?" He asks, tears filling his eyes as he looks at the bandages all over your torso, "Yes, they are okay, I gave them some strong painkillers so we could bandage their back, they will wake up in a few." Sodo wipes his eyes and kisses the back of your hand, "I'm so, so sorry." He sobs, still holding your hand.

Your eyes flutter open, trying to adapt to the lights. Your back feels sore, like you slept on a bed of nails, but feeling someone holding your hand took over your senses. You turn your head and see Sodo sobbing, while apologizing and saying your name over and over. You move the hand he's holding to cup his face. He leans into your touch, "You saved me, Y/n." he smiles, "I know" You say laughing back. He kisses the palm of your hand, "I love you, I did mean it when I said it." he whispers, "I love you more, believe me. I've wanted to tell you for years." You admit, starting to blush. He laughs lightly and starts to stroke your cheek with his hand, "I'm sorry that it took me almost dying to admit my feelings." He says, "At least we're alive now." You smile and turn your head to kiss his hand. Maybe the war will rage on, but at least for now you were safe and in love.
