Ch 2
Bruce pulled into the Batcave, carefully climbing out of the Batmobile and tossing his cowl onto a nearby chair. He didn't see Alfred anywhere, he guessed the man was either doing some cleaning or having his evening cup of tea. Bruce dragged a hand roughly through his hair and let out a sigh. He had been forced to end his patrol early since he couldn't be carrying a baby around with him while fighting crime.
Alfred called out a greeting to Bruce as he walked down the stairway that led to the Batcave. "You're back earlier than usual tonight Sir." Alfred said. The tone of his voice implied the unsaid question of 'Why'.
Bruce sighed as Alfred came over to him, offering him a steaming cup of tea. The ways of Alfred would always be a mystery to Bruce, how the older man always knew just what to say, and always seemed to have a fresh pot of tea at hand. 'Maybe that's Alfred's superpower.' Bruce thought to himself.
"Hey Alfred, I left a bag in the Batmobile, would you mind grabbing it for me?" Bruce said, trying to put off telling the butler about what had happened with the teen titans that night for as long as he could.
"Master Bruce, what is it that you have there?" Alfred said, setting the bag of baby supplies on the ground at Bruce's feet.
Bruce looked down at the baby sling that was wrapped around him. He sighed before moving the top and revealing slightly curly raven hair and a peaceful sleeping face.
"Master Bruce... are you sure taking in another child is a good idea?" Alfred asked. "Your hands are already quite full with Master Jason and Master Dick. Babies present quite a bit more work—
"Alfred." Bruce interrupted. "This is Dick." Bruce deadpanned.
"Pardon?" Alfred asked, completely confused. Last he checked, Dick was a teenager, not an infant.
"The Titans had an encounter with some sort of sorcerer... He took a hit meant for another member of his team and ended up like this." Bruce said.
"Oh my... Is there a way to reverse it?" Alfred asked, gently taking the sleeping baby from the sling.
"Not that I know of... but if there is a way, I intend to find it." Bruce said, a look of determination filling his features.
Alfred sighed. He couldn't help but smile as he looked down at the adorable child he held wrapped in his arms. "Alright sir. I will have dinner ready for you when you come up to the manor." Alfred said, grabbing the bag of baby supplies and slinging it over his shoulder.

Bruce walked into the manor and a smile appeared on his face when he heard Jason's laughter followed by Dick's adorable baby giggle.
Jason was playing peek-a-boo with Dick in the family room. Bruce watched from the doorway as Jason covered his face with a blanket for a moment before saying, "Peek-a-boo!" and letting the blanket drop. This caused Dick to erupt with adorable squeals of laughter.
Dick was sitting up in front of Jason and he reached out for Jason to pick him up.
Jason grabbed Dick and stood up, balancing him on one hip and bouncing up and down lightly, much to the joy of Dick who giggled again and began clapping his small hands together.
Bruce smiled at how his sons were getting along together. Dick hadn't been very pleased to learn about Jason in the first place, and Bruce had been uncertain about how Jason would react to the news that his older brother had been turned into a baby, but he seemed to be taking it well.
"Bruce!" Jason called, a big smile on his face. "Look how cute Dickie is!" Aforementioned baby was very cute, he had grabbed onto the bottom of Jason's sleeve and was gnawing on it while making adorable cooing noises.
"He is pretty cute." Bruce said with a chuckle, grabbing the baby who had turned in Jason's grasp to reach for him. "Did you already eat dinner?" Bruce asked Jason, grabbing Dick's hand which he had tried to put inside of Bruce's mouth.
"Nope." Jason said, popping the p. "I wanted to wait for you to get home. Alfred told me that I would have to eat if you didn't get home before 10:00, but you did, so now we can eat dinner together!" Jason was nearly jumping up and down with excitement at the end of his statement. His eyes were shining and a smile stretched across his lips, showing his one missing tooth.
Bruce returned Jason's smile, feeling slightly guilty that he hadn't been spending much time with him. "Alright, let's go eat then."
Jason skipped out of the room after Bruce, making faces at Dick who was peering over Bruce's shoulder. "Bruce?" He asked when they entered the dining room.
"What's up?" Bruce replied.
"Why do you have so many long meetings?" Jason asked innocently.
Bruce was speechless for a moment. He hadn't told Jason about his being Batman yet, and Alfred's excuse had been telling Jason that Bruce was at Wayne Enterprises meetings. 'I wonder how Alfred explained Dick's situation to him.' Bruce thought to himself. "The... the company takes a lot of work, bud." Bruce said to Jason.
Jason sighed. "Can't you take a break and spend more time with me? All Alfred wants to do is clean." Jason said with a pout.
Bruce chuckled when he heard that.
"Master Jason, I do enjoy things other than cleaning. I just choose to spend my day cleaning up after you." Alfred said as he carried in a tray with two plates and a bowl.
Bruce and Jason each got a plate of spaghetti, and there was a small bowl of boiled and mashed carrots for Dick.
"Is he old enough for solid foods?" Bruce asked, concerned for the well-being of his now youngest son.
"He can sit up on his own, so he should be about the right age to handle eating the carrots, but I shall purchase some official baby food tomorrow when I go to the grocery store." Alfred replied. He paused for a moment before continuing. "I would like to have a babysitter watch Master Dick while I run errands, do you have any suggestions Master Bruce?"
"I can watch him!" Jason said, raising his hand in the air with a look of extreme excitement.
"I'm afraid you will be at school at the time Master Jason, and you are hardly old enough to care for an infant." Alfred said, folding his arms and raising one eyebrow as if daring Jason to argue.
Jason just signed and slumped back down in his seat.
"Maybe Diana..." Bruce said as a response to Alfred's earlier question.
"I shall call her then sir." Alfred said, starting to leave, but turning back around at the door as he remembered something else. "Oh, Master Bruce. Would you like me to cancel my holiday I had scheduled for next week?"
"Oh... no, you don't need to cancel your trip. I'll find people to watch Dick and Jason during the day." Bruce replied.
"Thank you sir." Alfred replied before leaving the room.
Alfred walked into the kitchen and picked up one of the manor phones, dialing Diana Prince's number.
"Hello?" Diana said when she answered her phone. It wasn't often that Bruce called her, especially not from the manor phone.
"Mrs. Prince, how are you?" Alfred asked politely.
"I'm doing well... Is there something Bruce needs?" Diana asked, wondering why Alfred was calling her. Bruce didn't usually just call her when he needed Wonder Woman, so it couldn't be superhero business...
"Well..." Alfred paused for a second. "Something has happened to Master Dick, and he requires supervision, or perhaps the proper word is babysitting. Anyway, I have to run some errands tomorrow and I won't be available to watch him."
"So Bruce wants me to babysit Dick?" Diana asked incredulously. Last she checked Dick was perfectly capable of caring for himself, and he was supposedly away with some superhero team.
"That is correct ma'am." Alfred replied.
Diana sighed, mentally going over everything she had planned for the next day. "What time would you need me to come?"
"8:00-11:00 AM." Alfred said after some thought.
"I should be able to come... but why does Dick need someone to babysit him?" Diana asked with a sigh.
"That is a bit difficult to explain, but I assure you, I shall explain fully when you arrive tomorrow." Alfred said, only having received a shortened version of the full story himself. "Good evening ma'am." Alfred said after a moment's pause.
"Goodbye Alfred." Diana said before she hung up the phone, wondering what in the world she had gotten herself into.
Meanwhile, Bruce had been trying to get Dick to eat the mashed up carrots, something the baby didn't seem to want to do.
Jason had finished eating his dinner as quickly as he could, and when he had finished he moved to the seat next to Bruce's and started feeding Dick spoonfuls of the orange mush that Alfred had made while Bruce tried to eat his food and hold the squirming baby.
Dick seemed more interested in Bruce's spaghetti than he was in the carrots, but Jason managed to get him to eat some of it.
Bruce nearly choked on his last mouthful of food when he saw the mess Jason and Dick had made. Jason himself was completely clean, but Dick... Dick had orange all over his face, shirt, hair, and hands.
"What happened here?" Bruce asked Jason.
"Dickie likes playing with his food." Jason answered seriously.
Bruce smiled a little bit. "Well I guess now he needs a bath." He said, watching as Jason's eyes lit up with delight.
"Can I help?" Jason asked eagerly.
"Sure." Bruce said with a chuckle.
Since they didn't really have a good way to wash a baby in any of the tubs in the manor, they settled for the sink. The bag the Titans had given to them contained a pair of pajamas, another onesie, Dick's stuffed elephant from his bed, baby formula, a bottle, a pacifier, diapers, wipes, and a bottle of baby wash.
Alfred supervised as Bruce and Jason played with Dick in the sink they had filled with warm water.
Bruce used the baby wash to gently scrub the carrots out of Dick's hair and off of his face and hands.
Jason, on the other hand, ran up to his room and brought down a plastic dog, which he made prance around the edge of the sink, much to Dick's delight.
Dick happily splashed around in the water until Bruce got him all clean.
Alfred grabbed a large, fluffy towel and wrapped Dick up to help dry him before putting a new diaper on him as well as his Batman themed pajamas.
Dick began to yawn, and he didn't object when Alfred wrapped him in a small blanket and handed him back to Bruce.
"He's tired..." Bruce said. "We don't have a crib yet, so where should we put him to bed?"
"I'll find something Master Bruce." Alfred said, leaving to try and find something that could work as a temporary crib.
Alfred eventually found a large box that he thought would be suitable to make a temporary crib out of. He covered the inside of the box with a thick blanket before filling it with pillows. Alfred set the makeshift crib up next to the large bed in Bruce's room before going back downstairs to try and convince Jason and Bruce that it was time for everyone to go to bed.
When Alfred got back downstairs he saw Bruce cradling Dick in his arms as the baby slept. Jason was playing on the floor with his plastic dog toy. Alfred smiled, happy to see how peaceful everything was.
"Master Bruce, Master Jason. It is time for you both to go to bed." Alfred said, standing with his arms folded as Jason groaned in protest.
"But Alfie... I'm not tired." Jason whined, lifting a hand to try and cover a yawn.
"Don't argue with me Master Jason. It's past your bedtime." Alfred said, leaving no room for argument.
Jason trudged reluctantly up to bed, followed closely by Bruce who was walking as carefully as he could to avoid jostling Dick.
Alfred prepared an extra bottle for Dick just in case he woke up during the night and left it in the fridge.
Bruce carefully laid Dick in the makeshift crib that Alfred had prepared and climbed into his own bed. He wasn't used to going to bed this early, but the latter part of his day had been emotionally exhausting, and he was glad for the opportunity to get some extra sleep. He closed his eyes and went over the events of the day. 'Why does something like this always seem to happen to me?' Bruce thought to himself, sighing. 'I guess that's just how things are.' Bruce sighed again before rolling over and drifting off into a peaceful sleep.
