~FINALE~ Dare to Dream

*Poet's Note*: This poem doesn't rhyme. There, I said it. But it's still a poem, as I'm sure you will agree. That being said, it's not like anything I've ever written before. And, I think that's what makes it a clear, profound, beautiful, and thought provoking finale. In my opinion, it proves that words can be a powerful art form without having to rhyme. Rhyme schemes do not define the genre of poetry. Read for yourself and see...

If you reached for the stars,

Just to graze love,

But found yourself alone,

In an endless universe;

Beauty beyond belief,

A bright future waiting,

And still you were empty,

With hurt you couldn't place.

The rope you had climbed,

To touch this heaven,

Hung as fragile as a thread,

And still it stretched on;

Your heart screamed in anguish,

Of what you hadn't done,

Of what could never be,

And no word quelled the sound.

Cause the ground was too far,

The goal impossible,

Stuck in the middle,

But hope wouldn't fade;

What you dared to think,

Dared to imagine,

Scarred you forever,

A one way to ruin.

If you leapt just to fly,

To leave memories behind,

But gravity chains you,

You can't seem to forget;

You try to be grateful,

You've smiled through your pain,

Still your eyes keep turning,

To the night sky above.

Don't run from your problems,

They'll always criticize,

And your brain is a storm,

So pulled by your soul;

The colors so bold,

Your heart beats so fast,

Your feet leave the floor,

Just to dance in the dark.

But the ashes rain down,

You never seem to learn,

How could you ignore?

This tear in your chest;

Each breath is for life,

And life is for purpose,

But that is your question,

You yearn for the answer.

Whether stumble or fall,

Each rise is stronger,

The dirt is like rock,

But the pain seems absent;

The power persists,

Of that voice in your head,

The echos cry out,

Dream, dare to dream.

Fate takes her fancy,

On what catches her eye,

Don't succumb to your fear,

Or you'll never know;

The sky is the limit,

No limit on dreams,

Your mind is that rope,

Forever it climbs.

Fire in the deep,

No wave burns it out,

Stronger than the tide,

Its flickers still flare;

Dreams singe the core,

They can never die,

Their mark never wavers,

Till they're reality.

Through sadness and joy,

In success, in strife,

Be it laughs or war,

Dreams are in it all;

The longings of the heart,

The questions of the soul,

The fears of the brain,

Dreams drive desire.

The weapon of words,

There's a story they tell,

One word can be the same,

As the greatest tale told;

Dreams take on language,

As they slowly form,

As if they have breath,

And emotions ingrained.

If questions have answers,

If hope's not so frail,

One dream could soon solve,

The misery of man;

And what will it take?

How far could this go?

Only you must decide,

So dare—

Dare to dream.

What a journey, my flowers, what a journey this has been. To you, it may not have seemed so eventful. I wrote some poems, posted them about once a week (sometimes not...), some were happy, some were sad, some were just kind of bizarre, and I don't blame you for seeing it that way.

Through the words, you only get the tiniest glimpse of the thoughts and feelings and memories and pain that go into each of these poems. You don't see the tears, you don't feel the hurt, you don't relive the scars. It's been a rollercoaster for me. And I hope you can understand why <3

I have no qualms about this book not turning out to be as lighthearted and optimistic as i originally intended, because it never diverted from its original theme, despite appearances. Even in the most depressing of the poems, dreams were still the inspiration... MY dreams.

I firmly believe that dreams are one of the largest driving factors of the trajectories of our entire lives. What we hope for, what we pursue, what we feel, joy, envy, disappointment, those stem from what we wish for, what we desire, what we DREAM. Don't be ashamed of your dreams. They make up who you are.

They'll bring you happiness, and they'll bring you pain, success and failure, because they'll always be there. Even if you think you've given them up, their mark remains. And there's no shame in that :)

Happy World Dream Day 2021, my flowers! On this day, I sign off on this book, but the dreams... the dreams are forever. Go make your own. Go change the world. Here's to the future. Here's to life. Here's to the dreamers.

That's us.

Love you all <3

<3 Rea
