KATERINA MITCHELL, who prefers to go by Kate, has always been a fan of Karate. Ever since her father had introduce her to Karate at a young age and showed her some of his videos from Karate tournaments she loved Karate. Kate even said one day she's going to be just like her dad, follow in his footsteps with winning a lot of championships, which made her dad happy and proud. When Kate was ten, she got interested in learning Karate and so she asked her dad to teach her.

Her dad, Tanner, was more than happy to teach her. Tanner used to do Karate and won many championships and was even undefeated at one point back in the day which made him pretty famous. Tanner decided on moving to Seaford to be closer to his nephew, who they all didn't get to see much because they lived far apart. He knew it was a small city and so he figured maybe no one (beside his nephew) knew about him so he thought it would be a good place for a fresh start. Somewhere he hoped can just live a normal life with his family since in Ellingtonville, New York, everyone would want autographs or pictures when he's out in public.

Kate decided on going with her dad when he moved. She didn't care about leaving Ellingtonville behind since she didn't have any friends. Her mom would've gone with them and she wanted to go with them, but she wanted to stay there for her job that she loved. She loved being a lawyer and she knew she most likely wouldn't get a job as good as what she has now in Seaford. Kate and Tanner were very understanding and supported her with her decision, saying that they all would keep in touch with each other.

Tanner suggested for Kate to join her cousin's dojo because he knew Rudy's dojo wasn't doing that well and that Rudy could use some more students. Kate was hesitant on joining the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy because of the reputation it had. She did join it because Rudy is family and she didn't want him to lose the dojo. She knew how important it was to him and she would do all she can to help him keep it. Kate and Rudy get along well and despite the fact they're cousins they have more of a sibling bond.

Kate is much closer with her dad, but she does get along with her mom well. When her parents got a divorce she was devastated. She didn't even know that the spark between her parents had faded and that they have just fallen out of love because her parents hid that from her. She was happy that her parents were still friends though. Tanner and Keeley had made a plan where Keeley would get Kate during the weekends while Tanner would get Kate during the week. When Tanner moved to Seaford, Keeley became the primary caretaker of Kate. But then Keeley got a better job offer in New York a few years later, causing her to move there and the routine the family had remained the same.

When she spots a familiar brunette-haired boy at school one day, Kate is so happy upon realizing that boy is Jack Brewer, her childhood best friend. They had lived in the same town when they were in their elementary school years. They actually lived next to each other which helped them become best friends since that meant they could easily spend a lot of time together. They got to the point where they know each other better than they know themselves. Jack was her first ever friend, and for the time that Jack lived in the same town as Kate, it has always been Kate and Jack.

Kate was shyer when she was younger while Jack had always been outgoing so he was the one to start their friendship with just a simple hello. It was the first day of kindergarten in recess. Kate was at the swings by herself and no one would want to swing with her because of how shy she is and she was often called weird because she liked books and normally little girls don't like books. She didn't have any friends thanks to her shyness, but that didn't stop Jack from trying to be friends with her. He thought she looked friendly and so he went over to befriend her. Thanks to Jack, now Kate is more outgoing than she was when she was younger.

Kate and Jack even have nicknames for each other only they used which are Jackie and Rina. If anyone else used them they wouldn't be happy at all. When one boy had called Kate by the nickname only Jack use, he had punched the boy in the nose. Jack did get in trouble, but he thought it was worth it because the boy was a real jerk for all the times he had made fun of Kate for having divorced parents.

Now that Kate and Jack live in the same town again, they were able to rekindle their friendship. It turns Kate was the best student Rudy had, then she became the second best when Jack joined, and she was okay with that. But when Kim joins the Bobby Wasabi Dojo and Kate becomes the third best in the dojo, she's hurt. And her hopes of Jack possibly liking her back are crushed when he starts getting close with the blonde-haired girl.

Kate could only wonder if they were a movie would they be together and have a happy ending like in those romance movies. But it's just the beginning of her story and anything can happen.

just to let you guys know, rina is pronounced like re-na, kate is pronounced like k-ate & not like katie bc I know some people pronounce kate as katie. & of course katerina is pronounced like how it normally is, kat-er-re-na. also I apologize for that long summary, I didn't mean for it to get that long but I guess I got carried away, oops. yes I did make up ellingtonville (: but anyway, kickin it is honestly such an underrated show in my opinion. that show is really good & is so funny. also leo howard is hot, like, how could anyone not love him ! & i will be skipping some episodes if i cant figure out how to add my oc in it or if i just think they arent that important to add
