CHAPTER THREE, fat chance

At the next day of school, Kate was in the hallway, talking with Kim at the blonde's locker, and Jerry and Eddie happened to be nearby since their lockers were near Kim's locker. "Guys, guys!" Upon hearing their friend's voice, the four teens turn to look in the direction they heard Milton speak to see the red-haired boy running over to them. Kim closes her locker as Milton stands in front of his friends with a grin on his face. "Wanna know who just won the district spelling bee?"

Jerry shakes his head in response. Kate rolls her eyes at Jerry and looks at Milton with a small smile. "Who won, Milton?" She asked even though she had a feeling that he won.

Milton smiles. "Here's a clue: M-E."

A confused look forms on Jerry's face. "'Meh'?"

Milton looks at him with annoyance. "It's 'me', you toad."

Kate smiles at the red-haired boy while she holds onto the straps of her purple-colored backpack. "Congrats, Milton. That's great."

Milton smiles back at her and Eddie points at the trophy Milton held. "What is that?"

Milton glances at the small trophy in his hands. "The trophy I won. It's a bronze bee."

Kim narrows her eyes at the small trophy. "I've got fillings bigger than that thing."

"I rode a filly named 'perspicacious'," Milton pretends to be riding a horse as he grins. "All the way to the finish line."

Kate looks at him with amusement while the other three looks at him weirdly. "Now come on, who's the man?" Milton asks the four teens, outstretching his arms. "Who's the man?"

"Jack is the man!"

Everyone's attention is brought to the gymnastic coach who walked down the hallway with Jack and some other students following him as he carried a big trophy. Students started chanting Jack's name and Jerry, Kim, and Eddie joined the group that formed around Jack. Kate stayed beside Milton, not wanting him to feel left out.

"Now," Mr. Burke said once the chanting died down. "Thanks to Jack's routine, we've won our first gymnastics trophy in fifteen years." He handed the trophy off to a student who climbed the ladder that's in the hallway and put the trophy on the shelf where other trophies are put in the hallway for people to see.

Jack shrugs. "It wasn't really a routine. I was just trying to move fast enough so no one would notice I was wearing a unitard." He sheepishly smiled, putting his hands in his jeans pockets. Two boys wearing blue unitards walked by, smiling at Jack and giving him thumbs up. He awkwardly smiled and gave them a thumb up as well.

"When you're wearing one of those things," Jack explains with an embarrassed expression on his face. "Even when you win, you lose." Kate laughed a bit and crossed her arms, looking at her best friend with amusement. Jack looked over at her upon hearing her laugh and rolled his eyes playfully, knowing she was laughing at him, but he didn't care because he could listen to her laugh all the time, he loved it.

"You know," Milton walks over to stand by the others in the middle of the circle that was formed. "I just won the first spelling bee our school has ever-"

"Hey," Eddie interrupts Milton, turning to look at Jack with a grin. "How us what you did to win, Jack." Everyone, of course, immediately agreed and cheered Jack on. The crowd backed up a bit to give Jack more space. Jack backed up a few steps before he took a running start and did his move that won the gymnastics team a trophy which consisted of a few fancy flips.

Kate couldn't help but cheer along with everyone else. She was always impressed with Jack's skills. "Jack," Mr. Burke walks over to him with a smile on his face. "I hope this means that you're staying on the gymnastics team."

"I told you, it was a one-time deal." Jack reminds him. "I win you your trophy and you get a little visit from the wedgie wizard." He pointed at Jerry, who smirked and nodded.

Mr. Burke sighs. "I guess a deal's a deal." He shook Jack's hand as Jerry walks over to him.

"Just go with it." Jerry gets some baby powder out of his pocket (why does he have baby powder? kate has no idea and she preferred not to ask) and pours some on his hands before handing it to Kim. He claps his hands, causing baby powder to go in the air. He grins. "Whoo!"

Everyone grimaces and some laughs when Jerry wedgied Mr. Burke. "Is that all you got, punk?" Mr. Burke questioned in a high-pitched tone. Mr. Burke turned around and that's when everyone laughed since you could see his underwear as he walked down the hallway. The bell rang a few seconds later and everyone dispersed to their separate classes.

****

After school and on the gang's way to the dojo, Milton was explaining his fall in the hallway and how the custodian caught him just in time. Kate was glad to know that Milton didn't get hurt and thankful the custodian happened to be there at the right time.

"And at the very last second he caught me." Milton continues. "He put me down and walked away. The only thing I know about him is that his name tag said 'Yoshi Nakamura'."

"Huh," Jack shakes his head, furrowing his eyebrows. "Never noticed him before."

"Okay, hang on." Kim looks at him with confusion. "So, you didn't notice a six-hundred-pound custodian, but you did notice when Donna Tobin changed her ponytail from left to right?"

"Yeah," Kate puts her hands on her hips, glancing at Jack with raised eyebrows. "What's up with that?"

"Okay, first it was right to left," Jack corrects Kim. "Second, it wasn't a ponytail, it was a French braid."

Kate chuckles, shaking her head. "Why is that important?"

Jack points at her, dramatically saying, "Because it is." Kate rolls her eyes in response. Jack looks back at Kim. "And third, maybe if that custodian had legs like Donna Tobin I would've noticed him too."

Kate rolls her eyes and continues to walk to the dojo with her friends. They stop when Rudy walks in front of them at the entrance, and Kate notices her cousin is wearing a gi and had a red wagon that had magic trick stuff in it which made her confused. "Hey, big news, everybody!" Rudy greets. "The magic shop across the mall went out of business. They have to sell everything at half price."

He frowns. "I feel so bad for them." He starts to cry. "I think I'm gonna cry. It's a good thing I have this handkerchief." He began pulling out a multicolored handkerchief that kept on going as he pretended to cry. He started laughing as he kept pulling out the handkerchief that was inside his gi.

Kate shakes her head, looking at him with an amused smile. She and the others knew that was a just a silly magic trick. But apparently Jerry didn't realize that. "Yo, I don't know how he's doing that, man." Jerry comments, looking at Rudy with a scared expression. "But it's freaking me out."

"It's just a silly magic trick, Jerry." Kate assured him.

"Oh." Jerry sighs with relief. "Okay, good."

The group of teens follow Rudy inside as he starts walking inside the doo, pulling the red wagon with him. "Anyway, since the store closed a storage space opened up in the basement directly below us." He grins. "I finally have a place for all my stuff."

"It's about time." Eddie sighs. "This place is getting cluttered."

"It is not." Rudy denied.

"Rudy," Kate scoffs. "You're literally becoming a hoarder."

"Yeah," Kim agrees. "This place looks like a crazy old cat lady lives here."

Rudy looks at the two girls with offense and points at them. "Okay, both of you are exaggerating."

Kate and Kim exchange a glance before they both look at Rudy with raised eyebrows. "Really?" Kim questioned and Rudy nodded in response. The two girls walked over to a grey cabinet, and both opened the doors. They instinctively grabbed onto each other arms as they quickly got out of the way when stuff came pouring out of the cabinet. Kate's eyes widened and her mouth formed into an 'o' shape out of shock when a yellow colored cat meowed and walked out of the cabinet.

Kate gestures to the cat. "Since when do you have a cat?"

"Okay," Rudy points at the cat, speaking in a dramatic tone. "That is not my cat."

Rudy starts to walk to his office, pulling the red wagon behind him. He stops in front of the clutter in front of the cabinet, glancing at the yellow cat. "Are you coming Tip-Tip?" He whispered and Kate chuckled, shaking her head as she crossed her arms. She knew he was lying when he said that cat wasn't his. Tip-Tip meowed in response and got in the red wagon. Rudy then dramatically continued walking to his office.

The next day of school Kate is walking beside Jack as she and their friends walked down the hallway. Milton was carrying a store bought cake for the custodian who saved him. "Bringing presents to custodians?" Jerry asks in disbelief. He shakes his head. "That's not cool. I mean, what's next? Asking the crossing guard to prom?"

Kate shakes her head and glances at Milton. "Yeah, don't do that. That's just weird."

Eddie shrugs. "I already tried that, but she just wants to be friends."

Kate looks at him weirdly. "Like I said, weird."

"I think it's sweet Milton bought his new friend a cake." Kim smiled.

"Yeah," Kate agrees. She smiles at Milton. "It'll show the custodian that someone out there cares about him."

"Thanks, you guys." Milton smiles at her and Kim. "See, when someone does something great-You know, save a life or win a spelling bee-They should get some recognition."

Kate stands between Jerry and Jack when they all stop at the custodian's closet a few feet away while Milton knocks on the door. Milton knocks again when there was no response. Jerry walks forward, pushing Milton away, and opens the door. Kate followed her friends over to the closest Jerry opens. Along with her friends, she's shocked at what she sees inside.

Inside the custodians closest there were some snacks, but many trophies, newspapers and pictures of a sumo wrestler. It turns out that Yoshi Nakamura was a champion sumo wrestler. "Woah." The six teens spoke with surprised laced in their voices.

"Do you know what this means?" Jack inquired.

"I know exactly what this means." Jerry nods. He grins. "Our custodian's king of babies."

****

At lunch they found the Mr. Nakamura in the cafeteria, picking up wet floor signs. "Come on." Milton gestured for his friends to follow him as he started to walk over to him, and they followed him.

"Mr. Nakamura," Milton smiles at him. "I just want to thank you for saving my life the other day."

Mr. Nakamura smiles. "That's what I do, mop up pudding barf, collect trash and catch flying boys." He puts a hand on Milton's shoulder. "I'm living the dream." He took his hand off Milton's shoulder and walked to the right to pick up another wet floor sign.

"We stopped by your closest and saw your newspapers clippings, your trophies and your medals." Milton explains. "You're amazing!"

The five teens smile and nod in agreement with Milton. "Then we checked you out on the internet." Eddie adds. "You were a six-time sumo champion."

"Yeah, that match where you lost your diaper thing and kept fighting, that was awesome!" Jack smiles. He furrows his eyebrows and a disgusted look forms on his face. "And disturbing." He smiles at Mr. Nakamura. "But mostly awesome."

Smiling, Mr. Nakamura shakes his head. "That was a long time ago. I used to be a hero in Japan and now I plunge toilets." He looks at Jerry and speaks in a stern voice. "And you-you either change your diet or you use the bathroom at home, Jerry."

Jerry looks at him with surprise. "Wait, you know my name?"

Mr. Nakamura nods. "In the janitor's room we call you the bowl-buster."

Jerry nods and grins, looking proud of himself. He glances at his friends while Mr. Nakamura walks off to the side put away the wet floor signs in his custodian cart. "You hear that, you guys? I'm the bowl-buster. Whoo!"

"Sir, I love that awesome victory dance you do." Kim said to Mr. Nakamura with a smile on her face.

Kate nods in agreement, smiling at Mr. Nakamura. "The Nakamura stomp is so cool!"

"Yeah!" The boys agreed.

"That started when I seen a spider in the ring." Mr. Nakamura admits. "The crowd loved it, so I just ran with it."

"Come on, man." Eddie encourages. "Do it for us."

"Awe, I couldn't it." Mr. Nakamura smiles, shaking his head. "I'm at work."

"Please?" Milton asks, walking over to stand by Mr. Nakamura. "Just once."

"Fine." Mr. Nakamura agrees, putting a hand on Milton's shoulder. He smiles at the red-haired boy. "Just one for you, little buddy."

The six teens clap for him and all back up to give him space. The first stomp with his left foot caused anyone who was standing in the cafeteria to stumble back to the left side and it even made the tables shake. Then with his right foot the same thing happened. The last stomp Mr. Nakamura did was so powerful it made everyone jump along with the trays on the tables. And most of the people who were standing fell down because of how powerful the stomp was. Kate grinned at Mr. Nakamura from her spot on the ground. She had to admit it was really cool.

Kate smiles when she saw Jack offered to help her up and she took his hand. He smiles back at her as he helps her get back on her feet. The two teens exchanged a smile as everyone else that had fell got back on their feet and that was when Kate realized someone was holding her hand.

"Oops." Mr. Nakamura sheepishly smiled after seeing the mess he caused in the cafeteria. Kate glanced down at her hand, blushing upon seeing Jack was now holding her hand and her heartbeat increased.

Then an angry Mr. Burke with his head covered with spaghetti noodles walks over to Mr. Nakamura. "Look what you did!"

Along with her friends, Kate did her best not to laugh upon seeing Mr. burke being covered with spaghetti noodles. Kate couldn't help her fast heartbeat because of the fact she and Jack were still holding hands. She wondered if he even realized that. Jack did know they're still holding hands. He just didn't want to let go yet and unbeknownst to him neither did she.

"I'm sorry, sir." Mr. Nakamura chuckles a bit. "We're just having a little fun."

While some other students were amused by this, Mr. Burke was not. "Oh, fun?" He points at Mr. Nakamura and angrily states, "I didn't hire you to jump around like some hopscotching hippo."

Milton steps in front of Mr. Nakamura. "I got this." He stands in front of Mr. Burke. "Mr. Nakamura would like you to talk to him with a little more respect."

"So, I don't talk to you with respect, huh?" Mr. Burke asked Mr. Nakamura, taking the spaghetti noodles off his head and puts it on the plate that's on his tray.

"Actually I said-"

"This man used to be a hero," Milton stops Mr. Nakamura from continuing. "So he doesn't need a job."

Kate grimaces. "Oh no." She saw where this was going and it wasn't going to be good.

Jack glances at her with confusion. "What?"

Mr. Burke looks at Mr. Nakamura with raised eyebrows. "Really?"

Mr. Nakamura shakes his head, looking slightly panicked. "No, I really need the job 'cause-"

"He demands you apologize to him right now." Milton interrupted him.

"Really?" Mr. Burke faked a smile and Milton nodded in response.

"Yeah, this is gonna be bad." Kate responded to Jack and she sighed. She felt bad because she knew Milton was only trying to do a good thing, but she knew it was going to end badly.

"Here's my apology." Mr. Burke speaks in a more friendly voice. "Nakamura, you're fired!" He yelled the last part, startling everyone.

Kate frowns. "Yeah, I hate it I was right." Her heart skipped a beat when she felt Jack gently squeeze her hand. The fact she knew he just did that to try and cheer her up warmed her heart. She knew they both should pull away now because they're best friends and best friends don't hold hands. But for some reason she liked holding his hand and she didn't want to let go quite yet.

****

Kate and Jack did eventually let go of their hands, it was just when they left the cafeteria. Kate was surprised their friends didn't point out they were holding hands, but she was glad they didn't because she knew they would tease them for it.

"Guys, group meeting." Rudy calls out, walking out of his office just as Jack and Milton walks in the dojo. The six teens gather by Rudy, who look at them with confusion. He points at Mr. Nakamura. "Why is Weepy McHugie still here?"

Mr. Nakamura had been spending time at the dojo since he lost his job and he had ordered a lot of takeout food. He sat on some blue mats with four pizza boxes by him and some empty Chinese take-out boxes on the floor by him. Kate was surprised he could eat that much food.

"The guy's been through a lot, Rudy." Milton replies. "We found out why he gave up sumo and left Japan in shame."

Kate nods with a frown on her face. "He had, like, sixty-five wins in a row, but then some rookie just waltzed in threw him out of the ring like it was nothing."

"You guys hiding pears over there?" Mr. Nakamura asked.

Kim glances back at him and shakes her head. "There's no pears, darlin'." Mr. Nakamura sighed sadly in response.

"As if it was bad enough, he lost his life's savings." Jack explained to Rudy.

A surprised look forms on Rudy's face. "Wow. How did he do that?"

"He went on a game show called 'Are You Willing To Lose Your Life Savings?'." Jack answered.

Rudy points at Mr. Nakamura, demanding, "Fix this." He starts walking to the doors of the dojo. "Once the food runs out, we're gonna look tasty to that guy."  He turns to face the six teens, whispering, "Fix this."

The six teens are quiet for a few moments before Jack speaks up. "Hey, guys, I got an idea." He walks over to Mr. Nakamura and his friends follow him. "Nakamura, Milton was right-You're not a custodian, you're a champion. And with our help, you'll get there again."

Mr. Nakamura shakes his head. "I told you, that was a long time ago." A confused look forms on his face and he tilts his head to the side. "Why do you guys believe in me?"

"Look, we live by something called the Wasabi Code." Jack responds. "That means we never give up on each other. We just gotta find a way to get you back on the horse."

"Uh, Jack," Jerry grimaces. "It'd probably be safer if the horse got on his back." Kate rolls her eyes and chuckles at the fact he didn't understand that was a metaphor. Mr. Nakamura looks at Jerry with raised eyebrows and Jerry looks nervous. "But, uh, you know, works either way."

Jack smiles and puts his hand in the middle. "Wasabi?" Each of his friends put their hands on top of his and they all look at Mr. Nakamura, waiting for him to do the same. Mr. Nakamura put his hand on top of theirs and they raised their hands at the same time, shouting one word.

"Wasabi!"

****

The next day the gang decided on helping get Mr. Nakamura back in shape. Kate and Kim were sitting on top of the retaining wall around a tree in the quad, which was the open area between some shops and there was a seating area there too.

"They're not back yet?" Eddie asked the girls, walking out of the dojo.

"Nakamura wanted to run one more lap around the mall with his weight vest." Kim explained as Eddie sat beside her.

Kate glances to her right when she heard groaning and saw that they're back. She couldn't help the small chuckle that left her lips upon seeing Milton as the weight vest. He was in one of those baby carriers things that Mr. Nakamura wore.

"Alright," Jack smiles, pressing a button on the stopwatch he hold to stop it. "That was your best time yet. You ran the entire mall in under four minutes."

"Bouncing around in this thing has given me new respect for Kangaroos." Milton remarked and Mr. Nakamura unbuckled him which allowed him to stand.

"Hey, Nakamura," Rudy greets as he walks by and stands by Mr. Nakamura. "I saw you running through the mall carrying a big pasty baby that looked a lot like Milton."

Milton walks over to Rudy, looking at him with offense. "I'm not pasty. I'm translucent."

"Nakamura's training for his big comeback." Jack told Rudy as they all walked into the dojo.

"A comeback sumo match," Rudy nods, looking interested in this and Kate wasn't surprised. The group stops in the entrance area of the dojo as Mr. Nakamura continues to walk further into the dojo. Rudy looks at the six teens and smiles. "I bet people would buy tickets for that."

Kate nods in agreement. "People would buy tickets for anything nowadays."

"I paid five bucks to watch the Kellys' dog have puppies." Eddie explained and Kate pointed at him as if he just proved her point.

"I've seen the miracle of life," A disgusted expression forms on Eddie's face. "And it's disgusting."

"You know, we could have the match right here in the dojo." Rudy suggested.

"Yeah, that's great and all, but we don't have another sumo wrestler for him to compete against." Jack reminded everyone.

Smiling, Rudy nods. "I do." He explains that he met a sumo wrestler at the beach one day when he thought the sumo wrestler was a beached whale. "We kept in touch." Rudy sheepishly smiles. "I'll give him a call."

Kate didn't even realize that Jerry was gone until she notices him walking out of the boy's locker room, wearing an inflatable sumo wrestler suit. She laughs, walking over to the mat along with her friends. "Jerry, what the heck are you doing?"

"Gonna see if Nakamura is really as good as he says he is." Jerry smirks. "Alright, Nakamura, time for your real workout. Let's belly up!"

"Jerry, how's this thing gonna help?" Jack asks him. "You look like a bloated turkey in a thong."

"It's gonna make him quicker." Jerry responds. "I'm scrappy and wiry." He looks at Mr. Nakamura with a smirk and challenges him. "Now, come on, big guy." He ran at Mr. Nakamura and all Mr. Nakamura did was put his hand out in front of him to stop Jerry.

"Woah!" Jerry exclaimed when he fell on the floor. Along with her friends, Kate watched him with amusement as he had trouble getting up because of the inflatable sumo wrestler suit.

"Hey. A little help." Jerry said after a few seconds, and everyone quickly went over to him to help him up. "Thanks."

They all step back again as he raises his hands and regains balance. "I'm good. I'm good." Kate watched him with raised eyebrows while he slowly started walking towards the boy's locker room and he was staring intimidatingly at Mr. Nakamura. He then took off running towards the boy's locker room which made her chuckle.

****

It was now time for Mr. Nakamura's big comeback.

The gang decided on selling tickets after advertising the sumo wrestling match on social media and a lot of people bought the tickets. The dojo was full with people all excited to see the sumo wrestling match. Everyone cheered for Mr. Nakamura when he walked out, dressed in proper attire for the sumo match. After asking Rudy who the other sumo wrestler he knew was, he informed her that person is Yamazaki. Kate wondered how he convinced the man to do this and was not surprised to hear that he paid Yamazaki six hundred dollars to go along with this.

Everyone cheers for Yamazaki as he steps up on the mat. Mr. Nakamura looks over at him and a worried look forms on his face. "Uh-oh." He then took off running to Rudy's office.

Kate stumbled back a bit when she was pushed to the side as he ran away since she had been standing by him. Jack put his hand on her arm to keep her steady since he didn't want her to fall. Kate's lips curved upwards a bit, appreciating Jack's help to keep her steady and thought it was sweet he would do that. The two teens then glanced at each other, confusion clear on their faces. Why did Mr. Nakamura act scared of Yamazaki?

They both follow Mr. Nakamura into Rudy's office with Rudy and Milton behind them. "Nakamura, you can't hide in here..." Jack comments. He furrows his eyebrows and shakes his head. "Or anywhere."

"Mr. Nakamura, are you alright?" Kate questioned, looking at the man with concern while Milton closed the door.

"I'm not going out there." Mr. Nakamura gestures to out in the main area of the dojo, still having a scared look on his face. "That's Yamazaki. He's the only one that ever beat me." He grimaces and shakes his head. "I can't fight him."

"Of course you can." Kate encourages him. "We know you'll do great." She glanced at the door when she heard the crowd chanting Mr. Nakamura's name.

"Guys," Kim said, opening the door to the office with a worried look on her face. "We gotta put on a fight. The crowd's getting ugly," She shakes her head, her face twisting into disgust. "And they weren't too pretty to begin with."

Milton frowns. "This is all my fault." He walked out of the office, closing the door behind him.

Mr. Nakamura exhales as he leans on the desk. Jack stands beside him and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Nakamura, listen to me. You can't be running from this guy your whole life."

"I'm sorry, Jack." Mr. Nakamura apologizes. "I can't do this." Kate frowned, feeling bad for the man. She can't imagine what it must be like to be a six-time champion and then have one guy ruin it all.

The door opens again, revealing Eddie. Kate furrows her eyebrows upon hearing the crowd cheering. She was confused as to who they were cheering for since the fight hasn't started yet. "You guys gotta see this. You're not gonna believe it." The group followed Eddie back out to the main area of the dojo and are surprised to see that Milton was going to fight Yamazaki.

A shocked look forms on Kate's face. "What is he doing? Is he trying to get himself killed?"

Milton ran at Yamazaki, falling on his back when he hit Yamazaki's stomach. He gets up and runs at Yamazaki again. He uses all his strength to try to push Yamazaki out of the circle that was formed on the mat. While Milton's friends cheer him on, the crowd began to laugh at the red-haired boy. Milton eventually fell, looking at Yamazaki with wide eyes as Yamazaki stared down at him with an intimidating look.

"Your little kangaroo baby has the heart of a lion." Jack said to Mr. Nakamura.

Kate nods, turning to face Mr. Nakamura, adding, "And he's about to get killed if you don't do something about it."

Jack nods in agreement. "This is your moment." He points at Mr. Nakamura. "Go out there and take it!" Kate grimaces when Jack smacks Mr. Nakamura's butt. "Ooh! Wow!" Jack grimaces and puts his hands behind his back. "Skin on skin. Awkward."

Kate turns her attention back to the center of the room just in time to see Milton climb on Yamazaki. Milton's arms were now wrapped around Yamazaki's neck, and he had one leg over Yamazaki's shoulder. Kate continued to cheer with her friends for Milton to defeat Yamazaki. When Yamazaki started to spin Milton around and threw him on the floor, she had a feeling the red-haired boy wasn't going to win.

Yamazaki goes to pick up Milton, but Milton crawls underneath his legs to get away from him and runs into Mr. Nakamura. "I got this one, Milton." Mr. Nakamura assures him, and everyone cheers. Milton smiles at him. "You go, boy."

Mr. Nakamura steps into the ring as Milton stands beside his friends. At first it seemed like Yamazaki might win, but then Mr. Nakamura got the upper hand and pushed Yamazaki out of the ring. Kate cheered loudly along with everyone else. She was so happy for Mr. Nakamura for finally beating Yamazaki. Kate followed her friends over to Mr. Nakamura and they all high fived him.

"Nakamura stomp!" Jerry began to chant and everyone joined him.

"Woah!" Everyone stumbled to the left when Mr. Nakamura stomped with his left foot. Unbeknownst to everyone, debris from the roof started to fall down in the storage space below the dojo where Lonnie, the owner of Reptile World, was at since that was his man cave.

"Woah!" Since they were standing beside each other, Kate and Jack instinctively grab onto each other's arms for help to regain their balance as they stumble when Mr. Nakamura stomps with his right foot.

"Woah!" Everyone stumbled back once again when Mr. Nakamura did a small jump and some debris from the roof fell once again.

The big jump Mr. Nakamura did last was so powerful he made a whole through the floor and fell. Rudy rushes over to the whole in the floor and smirks upon seeing Mr. Nakamura landed on Lonnie, who was sitting on his couch. "Well, look who just dropped in."

Lonnie groans. Mr. Nakamura looks around the decorated place with a smile. "Sweet man cave."

****

Kate walks down the steps in the hallway beside the boys at school the next day. "Thanks to Milton, Nakamura's heading back to Japan to get his title back." Jack explained.

Eddie high fives Milton and from her place between Milton and Jack, Kate pats his shoulder and exchanges a smile with him. "I'm proud of you, Milton."

Milton smiles back at her. "Thanks, Kate."

Kate holds onto the straps of her backpack while she and the boys got off the stairs. "You know, I could be a sumo wrestler." Jerry comments. "I just need to gain like five...Six hundred pounds."

Eddie shrugs. "Your mom did it pretty easily."

Jerry looks at hi with a glare. "That's it, man." Eddie's eyes widened and he took off running with Jerry close behind. Kate watched her friends run down the hallway and laughed. Boys can be idiots at times, but they were sure entertaining.

"Hey, guys," Milton turns to face Kate and Jack with a worried look on his face. "Have you seen my spelling bee trophy? I thought it was in my locker, but I can't find it anywhere. I know it's small, but it means a lot to me."

Kate shares a smile with Jack since they both knew where it was and then they both look back at Milton. Kate had suggested that they should put Milton's trophy up where the other trophies are at because he deserved to be recognized for winning something as much as anyone else did. Jack immediately agreed and so the two of them talked with the principal about it and got Milton's trophy put up on the shelf with the other trophies.

"Don't worry, Milton." Jack smiles at Milton, patting Milton on the back. "I'm sure it's someplace safe." Milton nodded and smiled in response before he walked down the hallway.

Kate and Jack glance up at the shelf at the spot where Milton's trophy was put with smiles on their faces. "I'm glad we did that, Jackie." Kate said to him, and he nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, me too, Rina. All thanks to you though since you came up with the idea." Jack told her. The best friends looked at each other with smiles as they did their secret handshake that they made when they were little.

(this is their secret handshake)

Then they wrapped their arms around their shoulders and walked down the hallway.

A/N ooh kate is slowly starting to get feelings for jack ! her & jack are so cute omg. & i love kate's friendship with everyone else !
