Chapter Six
The impact isn't soft but it also isn't painful. Not for him, at least. When he hits the ground; or rather hits Kai and they both fall ungracefully on the ground. He hears a crunch. A sound that can't mean anything good.
Kai grunts with pain gritting through his teeth. He rolls Taehyun off of him.
In brief shock from the fall; and the fact that he fell without much thought, Taehyun needs to reset his mind before he realizes that something had happened. He blinks when Kai rolls him off and he gulps before mumbling. "Your leg... "fear dawns on him; he covers his mouth with his hands and puts his hand on Kai's bent leg. "Oh god." he gaps. "Are you okay?"
With a surprised laugh. Kai sits up from the grass; he looks at his ankle. "We made it," he whispers. "See," he smiles despite the shooting pain in his bone. "What did I say-" he abruptly stops and the smile wipes from his face. For the tenth time, he signals Taehyun to be quiet and he tilts his head as if he's trying to hear something.
Faster than light; he grabs Taehyun arm and yanks him to a near bush where he limps over and he pushes Taehyun's shoulder's until he's crouched down. They hide in the bush; vines and small branches poke at their bodies and face as they sink down more into the leaves.
Kai presses his hand over Taehyun's mouth when they hear footsteps coming. Grass and leaves crunches and shattered under a pair of black combat shoes. A man passes right by them; close enough that Taehyun can see the way his shoe laces are tied together; one string loose.
He stares with wide eyes; trying to muffle the sound of his staggered breathing. Kai holds him back; hunched under the bush, they sit fused together while the man stops right in front of their eyes peeking through the leaves.
The gun the man is holding is in view for them to take in. He lingers; looking to his sides. Taehyun stops his breath and another hand clamps on his nose. He closes his eyes; heart beating so loud he thinks Kai might put his hand there too so it doesn't make any sound.
If the man looks a few inches down; he will meet eyes with Taehyun. If only he tips his head down; they will be done for.
He can't hold his breath for any longer. He closes his eyes; feeling his chest tighten and a tear breaks past his shut eyelids and drips down his cheek. He can't breathe.
Only when the sound of grass continues to be crushed under the shoes of the man and his footsteps grows weaker to the ear until they are fully gone, then does Kai removes his hand from Taehyun's face and the scientist sucks in a deep breath and leans down; breathing heavily.
A hand appears on his back. "Sorry about that," he hears Kai say so faintly. He looks back; leaves brushing over him ever so quietly, only a hushed sound o shuffling is heard. Kai turns his head around, scanning their surroundings.
His chest is pressed against Taehyun back and he can feel it going up and down in calculated breathes. Their hands clamp together; Kai squeezes hard as he sees another figure passes by. By doing that, he warns Taehyun not to move.
Muffled voices talk. To many people around; scattered over the grass around the museum. There is no path for them to take without risking getting caught. It seems the men have blocked every way out of the premises.
.............................
Zip ties tighten on Yeonjun's wrists and he gets thrown to the side of the wall with the rest of the security team minus Kai. He catches sight of Soobin watching him with sad eyes from the seating area. With that sadness; fear lies.
Soobin's neck bobs ad he gulps and ducks his head when the group of masked intruders pass by him. They had pushed the tables aside leaving a big chuck of bare floor for the guests to sit on the ground. Scared out of their wits, some of the dolled-up woman cry softly while some manage to keep their emotions steady. The men look anxious and uneased, sneaking peeks at the intruders while they pace around with the guns in their hands, completely silent.
Even with masks on; it's clear to tell which one in the group is in charge as the somewhat tall; largely built man tells another masked man something.
"Check everybody's IDs." Yeonjun hears from where he's sitting; bound on the floor with his hands behind his back. He tries to find a comfortable position. His gun was taken and thrown in a pile amongst the other guns the intruders have confiscated. "He must be here between the rest."
Must be him. Yeonjun concludes. A strange thing he notices is that he only heard them speaking in English, while the expectation is fluent, flowing French. He doesn't hear an accent either which makes him believe that the majority must be American, or at least American-born.
He's not sure how crucial that detail is but he remembers to tell that to the cops if it gets to it.
The group, 5 men and their "leader" begin going guest by guest, searching people's pockets for IDs, name tags, phones, and letter necklaces. Anything that can identify them.
The zip ties dig into his skin and chafes his ankles. Damn it, he should have taken Soobin instead of going to the back to find the power cord.
He knows it was the right thing to do or else Kai would never have been able to slip off with Taehyun and call for help. Still, he regrets not having time to protect his own client who he is sure resents him for that.
A greater cause, he reminds himself. Soobin will never be harmed because he is not who they want.
In their search, they take anything worth of value from the guests. May it be wallets, jewelry, watches and even bags.
He wonders if Kai and Taehyun are no longer in the building but if so, wouldn't Kai call the police? Just as he thinks that; he sees something that makes his complexion as white as a ghost.
In Kai's uniforms; Taehyun is being dragged from a hall and emerges to the eyes of everyone present. His hands are bound in the same way his's are.
Yeonjun's eyes nearly pop out of his socket when the masked person drags Taehyun to the wall and throws him beside Yeonjun.
He lets out a breath of pain. The intruders discard him without a second glance. "Who's that?" Yeonjun hears the leader ask.
The person who brought Taehyun in hands the leader of the group a phone. "He was hiding upstairs. Found that on him."
The leader skims through the phone while every single person in the room has their eyes on them including Taehyun who is shaking like a leaf next to Yeonjun.
He shuffles closer. He has never gotten to know Yeonjun personally but Kai does and that is enough information to feel slightly less scared when he sees him.
"Are you okay?" Yeonjun whispers.
Taehyun nods. "I'm unharmed." in fact; being around Yeonjun he thinks he's quite similar to Kai in the way the two act which makes it easier for Taehyun to keep his composure. He knows that while Kai and Yeonjun have had a strange tension around them Kai does trust Yeonjun more than he's letting on which means Taehyun trusts the older bodyguard too, not matter the circumstances between him and Kai.
"They think you're Kai?" Yeonjun asks in a voice quieter than a whisper. He knows it's what Kai had intended when he saw Taehyun walk in, wearing Kai's uniform but he finds it hard to believe the intruders had bought it. But then again, for a split second he too thought it was Kai who emerged from the hall until his eyes finally focused.
Thankfully, the black brimmed glasses are thick enough to cover most of Taehyun's face when he has them on; seeing him without them is almost like seeing a different person all together.
Taehyun nods once again; eyes widening in fear as he sees two armed men approaching him. One is the man who found him hiding in the office. He recognizes the eyes from the little slit in their maskes.
He tries to contain the feat; embody Kai. "Hey." he hears. "I know you are Kang Taehyun's guard, you little slippery shit. Where the fuck is he?" he spits.
"We- we got separated." shit, he's stuttering. Keep calm, keep calm. "I swear, I haven't seen him since it got dark." he improvises in broken English despite his English being better than perfectly smooth. It hurts to talk like an imbecile on purpose but it sells the act.
Apparently; his panic-struck face tells a different story about a guard who lost his client who happens to be of high importance. He looks so defeated that they buy whatever he's saying on the count of someone who knows he's about to lose both his job and the person he's in charge of.
"Damn it." the leader curses. "He can't be far away, look in all the floors, in every corner." he stands up and walks away from Taehyun who breathes in relief.
"Good job." Yeonjun praises. "Now, where the hell is Kai?"
..............................
He falls down; trying to give his best impression of someone who has two left legs and spiking levels of fear in his system. He scrapes his knees and legs; maybe on purpose.
They are catching up to him. He cowers his form as much as possible and when he stops behind a wall to catch his breath; he digs his fingers in his scalp and ruffles his hair all over his forehead in messy; uncoordinated strands.
The footsteps are getting closer. At once, he drops to his knees and begins sobbing. "No... No! Please!" he pleads; but they take him away anyways. He screams and thrashes but not enough to raise suspicion about his strength. "Please!" he wails loudly.
They tug him by his hands and he cries and resists. "Please... "he whimpers. Snot coming down his chin.
He looks pathetically helpless. Perfect. "Why are you d-doing this?" he tries to free himself, but not really. "I haven't done anything, please. Please!" a kick to the back of his knee both throws him off balance and shuts him up.
Kai only lets out a sob filled with pain.
"We found him."
.............................
It's a waiting game now; Yeonjun isn't sure what exactly they are waiting for, though. as time passes by, a minute, two, ten; he feels increasingly worried for Kai. From hushed whispers and brief answers, Taehyun tells him most of what happened before he got caught trying to sneak past the museum's entrance gate.
Knowing Kai had obtained some kind of leg injury doesn't help ease his mind. But growing police sirens do the trick. If it's not Kai who hacked a way out and called help, then it might be a noise complaint and reports of gun action nearby.
Yeonjun hopes it's the first option.
Hearing the sirens; the intruders discuss between themselves and slowly but surely, they carry out the bags of valuables on their backs and head out. They don't look all that defeated; even when they have no choice but to leave.
They do it in a rushed manner and their leader appears stressed but not nervous or mad. Why is that? Yeonjun wonders. Could it be that they have what they wanted?
In matter of minutes; the room is occupied by just the guests and the security team, just like the beginning of the evening. The shock that still lingers in the dance floor that has now turned just a floor, takes a while to dissipates and even then, when people begin to move slightly, wondering if they are truly left alone, they still hesitate to get up.
"What are you doing?" Yeonjun voice rising above the hesitance. His eyes lock on Soobin who's pale as a freshly painted wall. "Get a knife!"
The volume of his sharp cry seems to wake the people from the fog of fear the intruders had drapes over the room. Soobin gets up with a jump-start, looking back at the tables, he runs over and picks up a knife that lays over a white napkin.
He grips it in his hand and jogs over to the wall where the security team is leaned against. From close enough; Yeonjun can see the sweat that trickle down Soobin's nape; drenching the hairs at the back of his head.
He wipes his forehead and hooks the knife under the zip-ties binding Yeonjun's ankles together. With a snap; he tears them open.
.................................
Entering his hotel room feels different without hearing the door next to him open. The shuffle of Kai's presence across the walls had always made him feel like he has someone by his side.
Now the only thing he can latch on is the uniform draping over his body, warm still and awfully wrong. This should be Kai's and he should be here.
Taehyun closes the door behind him and walks to his bed; dodging the bed spread on the floor in clumsy footing. The bed that had been left untouched since his first night in Paris feels cold to the touch with only a simple sheet covering the mattress.
His heart hasn't stopped it's fast beating pace, even after the cops had come, even after they left the museum. Even after danger was no longer waiting around the corner until it can open its jaws and swallow Taehyun right when he makes a bad step.
He's not sure what they want of him, what the demand for him means. He's not sure he even understood people's infatuation with him. Not when the guests of the party seemed enthused to speak with him, not when Mr. Bang has first suggested Taehyun joins their lab, an offer made to him when he was still just in high school.
Working on a cure for cancer for his bio-chem major. Apparently, most students choose to dissect a frog or learn the effects of kiwi enzymes on gummy bears; he found that to be a waste of his time.
It was only two years into his career that the lab told him they were upping the security around him. He didn't know why, and he doesn't know why now.
Why he's being targeted.
But whatever it is, for whatever reason; it took Kai away and now he's wrecking his brain as to what he can give to get him back. What do they want?
A knock on his door startles his heart to a short stop. His hands lock beside his body; an involuntary reaction. If he wasn't such a coward, maybe Kai wouldn't need to take his place.
"Who is it?"
"Yeonjun."
Taehyun bites his lips; drawing a piece of skin between his teeth. "Go away."
"The lounge is closed for the team tonight, courtesy of the hotel." a beat of silence. "If you find trouble sleeping tonight, you should come."
Whether Yeonjun stayed to hear his answer or not, a few seconds pass and he knows the older bodyguard had left the post of his door. He stands stiffly at the center of the room; unsure what he should do with himself next.
It's wrong, this is all wrong. And when everything is wrong, he can open his door and Kai is there to make it right.
He backs into the bare, cold bed from the aggressive AC. Shivers run across his spine; his heavy body falls onto the mattress and he curls into himself, afraid to close his eyes. It's cold, but he can grab his blanket form the floor but he doesn't make effort to.
He's sweaty and his skin feels sticky but if he gets into the shower, he must take off Kai's uniform and that is to take the one thing that somehow keeps him grounded. Even if he could take the clothes off; he doesn't have the energy to.
From the window of his room; he can hear the faint sound of traffic down on the street. He presses his palms on his ears and tries to relax his eyes to fall shut. But he finds that to be impossible.
He wonders if it's right to fall asleep when they are not sure where Kai is. The crunch he heard; Kai's bone bending weirdly replays in his mind. He winces and rolls to his left and hugs his legs close to his stomach.
A tight exhale whistles from his nose. He should turn off the AC. But if he does so much as move from the mattress, he thinks the shadows on the wall may engulf him entirely. Everything feels odd; out of place. Everything suddenly feels like a threat.
He must watch his steps. His chest tightens, the way it does when you close your eyes and your first though is a ghost is in front of me. The same way a cold sensation washes over when you walk alone at night and hear a strange sound.
You freeze. You make no sudden moves. And at once, you flee like your life is depended on it.
A rush of fear roots Taehyun in place and once he can move his limbs; he shoots up from the bed, shudder shakes his entire body as a sense of survival hits him, hard. He runs to the door of his hotel room and opens is with such force; the handle is barely holding on.
He sprints to the hall; making his way to the elevators where he presses frantically on a button before the ping is heard. He looks back; expecting to see the threat closing in on him.
But the hall is empty.
Before the shadow crawls from within the walls, he enters the elevator and watches as the doors close slowly.
Come on, come on. He prays in his heart a hand will not appear right before it closes completely and takes him whole.
But it's not a horror movie and he's not trapped in a nightmare; at least not an unconscious one. There is no shadow creeping in real life and just as the doors do; they close like they are supposed to and it takes him to the floor of the lounge.
Only when he gets off; does he feel a little safer. He hears talking the more he walks to the entrance of the large room. "So, what now?" from the slit of the door, he can see Yeonjun and one of his colleges playing a board game Taehyun does not recognize but looks like a chess with the addition of tossing cubes.
They play on one of the wooden tables while tucked by a blanket, Soobin is sprawled on one of the biggen couches, trying to fall asleep. Next to him; is his co-worker who's laying on his back and snores.
Talking to his phone on the very corner of the room is Mr. Bang whose gray eyebrows knit together.
The lights are dimmed but a few lamps are on where people are playing around the billiard table.
Yeonjun sighs. "We wait, for now. Until the police finds something."
"Do you think it was a mistake?"
Shaking his head, Yeonjun moves one his pieces across the board. "It was either him or Kang. You tell me."
"They could have made it."
"Then, Kai wouldn't have resorted to his last option."
"... I don't know."
"I do." Yeonjun snaps. "He did what he could to keep his client safe and it worked. If it was you; we'd be screwed." he tosses the cubes and a vicious smile tug at his lips. He moves his pieces and calls it a game. "See," the smile fades. "I have played this game with Kai since military days and I haven't won once against, because it takes planning ahead. He might be reckless, but he knows what he's doing."
"This job isn't a game, which proves my point."
Yeonjun looks up and he has a look on his face that Taehyun has not seen from him before. "And your point being?" he asks.
His colleague lets out an airy, nervous laugh. "Come on, yeonjun," he says in a light tone to shake the building tension away. The smile slowly leaves his face when Yeonjun just looks at him, waiting for an answer. "Listen," he says. "I care for Kai, he's a great guy. But he's not cut out for this job, he dives too deep."
To that, Yeonjun has nothing to say.
"He struggles to follow protocol, which is there for a reason. For heaven's sake, he's dating his client. That is unheard of." he continues. "To be in this field you need to have limits. He has none."
"You sorry piece of shit."
The two bodyguards sitting next to the table turn their heads to the door, one looking surprised while the other turns from serious to offended. "What did you say?" he asks while his eyes narrow.
"I called you a sorry fuck." Taehyun repeats himself and now Yeonjun is the one who tries to lighten the mood. "Stop it," he says. "He doesn't mean it," he tells his colleague.
Soobin slowly opens his eyes; still laying on the couch. It seems like he barely got to drifting away before the rude commotion woke him up. He straightens up on the couch.
Suddenly, the three men have the room's entire attention on them.
"Don't speak for me, Yeonjun." Taehyun glares and Yeonjun notices that he's still wearing Kai's clothes. "Only sorry fucks can badmouth a person who's not even here to defend himself-"
"Taehyun, relax."
Taehyun raises his hand sharply. "Don't fucking interrupt me when I'm speaking." he spits. "Not cut out? What is being cut out for your job means? Because all I saw you do since we landed is feast on the hotel's food and sleep, I would rather have a Chiwawa dog defend me than you. At least I can count on it to be awake." he scoffs. "Well, if being unreliable is a standard for your job, well then." he claps his hands; the action dripping sarcasm. "Congratulation, fucker. you are the most competent one here."
The collogue whose name Taehyun had not bothered learning in the 3 weeks of their stay gets up from his chair and takes a few steps forward. "Do you kiss Kai with that filthy mouth of yours?" he asks with a devious smirk. "No wonder he ran away from you when he could-"
Taehyun blinks foggily. "Shut up." he swallows.
"Stop it." an unexpected voice cools down the air. Taehyun inhales sharply and looks to his eight to find Mr. Bang looking at them with disappointment practically printed on his face. He sighs and rubs his fingers over his temples.
Taehyun wondered how long he stood there. "Go to your room for the night, Jihoon."
The guy opens his mouth to defend himself; to say that Taehyun had started it because he did but it just shows the level of maturity he holds. Mr. Bang holds his hand up to stop him. "It wasn't a suggestion." he stands his ground. "Have some self-restraint," he adds and Taehyun is conflicted on whether to be offended or not.
Is it a common belief that he can't possibly control his mouth? Perhaps he can't. Is that why Mr. Bang had stopped trying to reprimand him, because he still sees Taehyun like the 17-year-old boy he was when they had first encounter. A genius with a mouth that invites trouble without meaning.
Maybe he does mean it a little.
But instead of feeling shame for lashing out and not using the filters he should have, he wonders why Yeonjun had sat there in silence when he knows that there is no one more cut out for protecting people than Kai. Why had he acted so cowardly in defending someone close to him?
"You are a shit person, you know that?" without missing a beat; he passes his anger onto Yeonjun. "Kai trusts you. But I guess you can't do a simple thing such as have his back." after that, without waiting for Yeonjun retaliation; Taehyun storms out of the lounge.
A bitter taste spreads in his mouth. He walks to the lobby where he sees the employees of the hotel going back and forth despite the late hour; working nonstop. Dragging cart of luggage around and sheets around.
The reception is busy; soft chatter fills the halls of the lobby. At the center, people sit on the chairs, waiting to be checked in or out. Couches accommodated by groups of people who had just came from long meetings and a few who got bored of their rooms and are mingling with other guests of the hotel.
The air is lively yet calm aside for a few spikes of loud laughter. He finds a couch for two and folds his legs while seating stiffly. He scratches his nose and looks around.
He figures the place is packed due to the lounge is reserved for their team tonight. The guests do not seem upset, with comfortable places to sit and a high-end bar with all the drinks who could ask for, it doesn't seem like anyone is complaining.
Taehyun already knows that his night, he will spend here.
As if aware of the timing, he hears a polite. "Sir," a tray with a steaming cup filled with un unknown, hot drink and a small plate of glazed scones enters his line of vision. "Coffee?" the female employees, a girl his age with a tightly wrapped bun and a gray apron offers a light, late night treat and a sympathetic smile.
Is his misery obvious? To the extent that she feels she should be comforting in one way or another. "Thank you." he accepts his intentions regardless, giving up sleep altogether.
"No worries. Bon appetite."
He gives her a slight nod and she takes her leave soon after. He picks up the mug from the tray placed on the small table in front of him and blows on the steam; his senses invaded by a strong coffee beans aroma.
Taehyun drinks his coffee in silence; glancing at the floor outside from the large windows the cover a wall of the lobby. Offering view of the pool that is now empty of people.
We wait, He hears Yeonjun in his mind. For now. Until the police find something. Finds Kai. Yeonjun's lack of care both reassures Taehyun and enrages him at the same beat.
He sighs and takes another sip, swallows his thoughts down. "Hey." Taehyun flinches lightly and looks up to see Soobin standing above him. "Sorry," he says. "Didn't mean to scare you, can I sit?"
Taehyun shrugs.
Taking that as a yes, Soobin takes the empty place next to Taehyun and they fill out the length of the couch. Taehyun extends his hand and picks out a small sugared scone, glaze sticks to his fingers.
His stomach rumbles; he knows Soobin heard it but he doesn't look at his co-worker to confirm it. He looks forward as he takes a bite of the pastry and small crumbs fall from his mouth to his shirt.
He chews slowly.
"He shouldn't have said that." Soobin begins. "You were right to be mad. If anyone has criticism towards Kai, it's best that they tell him face to face. Otherwise, it's simply cruel."
He takes another bite and wipes his mouth. "Maybe," he says dryly. Although he won't admit it out loud, Soobin taking his side eases him since often more than not they are never in agreement. "Are we going back to Korea?"
"It's likely."
"So, I am expected to leave without Kai, then?" he turns to Soobin and tilts his head. "Do you find it reasonable?" he asks. "To just leave him here?"
"The security team will stay for as long as needed until Kai resurfaces."
Taehyun shakes his head. "It's not the same and you know that." his face crumbles; the stress of the past day balls into a heavy pit in his chest. "It's heartless." he lays down something they both know is factual. "We don't even know where he is, the nonchalance is absurd. I can't leave- I can't-" abandon him. He threw a ball for his puppy to fetch and he's leaving before it's back with the ball between his teeth and its tail wagging behind.
Dogs are loyal to their owners. But devotion goes both ways.
He takes a deep breath. "I wouldn't know how to explain myself if he gets back and I'm not here," he whispers.
"I get that." Soobin strokes his shoulder. "Mr. Bang gets that too."
Taehyun rolls his eyes; a lump forms in his throat. "He'll still book a ticket for me." his voice pitches higher and he clears his throat and bites his upper lip.
"... Right."
"I can say no."
"Then, the Lab will no longer pay for your room here." Soobin sighs. "You know how they work, Taehyun. It's best to comply and argue later."
"I'm not leaving."
"You are, though."
"I'm-" of course he is. Soobin is always annoyingly right about things like that. He buries his head in his hands and ruffles his short hair. The soothing hand rubs his back as if Soobin knows just how hard this night is for him.
He opens his dry mouth; licking over his chapped lips. "Hyung."
"What?"
"They'll let him go once they realize he has nothing to offer, right?"
"I don't think Kai needs let-going." Soobin laughs briefly although it's hardly a laughing matter. "Mr. Choi is not worried in the slightest which tells me your bodyguard had gotten himself into sticky situations before."
"I don't want to leave." an honest confession comes.
"We know."
Taehyun's nose flares. "Then, why?" his tone bites. He gets no answer, no answer but a deep sigh. His question is left hung in the air until it disappears like water turned into steam.
The next thing he knows, he's sitting on his bed, dejected; watching as Soobin drags his suitcase to the center of his room and he begins folding Taehyun's clothes and placing them in a neat pile inside.
He gulps and clamps his hands together; watching his suitcase get filled. "Are we leaving tonight?" he asks in a whisper.
Soobin halts; hearing Taehyun's saddened voice. He hears Taehyun hiss and grumble before, he heard him yell in protest and kick his feet while doing so, he heard him snap and his words coated in irony. He's used to the wrath of Taehyun.
But what makes him stop slowly and raise his head to face a foreign version of Taehyun he has not met yet. His voice is shaky; unstable, a reminder that despite his fiery nature, Taehyun is in fact younger than him.
"In the morning." he swallows his guilt. He hears a low sniffle; Taehyun rises from his bed.
In a reluctant admission, Taehyun takes his stuff from the bathroom's sink while Soobin stuffs his suitcase until it can no longer contain anything else. He drags another bag across the floor and opens its zipper.
Crying quietly; Taehyun gathers his toothbrush, realizing he doesn't have much to take. He comes back and hands Soobin the item to put in the bag.
"... Taehyun."
"I'll go," The tears fall on Taehyun's face and he wipes them furiously. "Just d-drop it." he picks up his socks from the floor and jams it into his bag; then he notices the scarf Kai had given him the few first days of their trip.
He takes it and instead of putting it in his bag; he wraps it around his neck.
"I'm sorry," Soobin says. Trying to make Taehyun feel better, or more like trying to make himself feel less guilty although he doesn't have a choice or a voice in the matter either."I know it sucks."
"You know, but you don't care." Taehyun pulls on his runny nose. "Leave, I can pack my things myself."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure, l-leave. Your presence only makes me feel shittier."
At the sound of the door thump close, it only takes two seconds for Taehyun to free out a sob. With blurry vision; he just collects his things and throws them into the bag in disarray. Everything, every trace of him gets shoves into the duffle bag.
Until the room is spotless aside from the dust that has collected and the bag in the trash bin that needs changing.
Taehyun doesn't close his eyes for more than 3 seconds that night.
