Chapter 16

We were eating in a restaurant near the hotel and Grayson is surprisingly . . . quiet. His whole focus is on the food and he wasn't looking at me if it's not necessary.

I guess that this is because of what he heard kanina noong kausap ko si Enzo.

"Grayson . . ." I called him nervously as he continued eating.

"Hmm?" he responded. His eyes are still on his plate.

"Are you angry?" I asked.

My hands started shaking a little while holding the spoon and fork. I held it tightly para hindi gaanong mahalata at para mapakalma ang sarili kahit konti.

"Why would I?" He chuckled.

Sumimangot ako bago tuluyang ibinaba ang spoon and fork. "You're quiet. I know you're angry."

"I just don't like what I heard a while ago. I'm sorry for acting this way kanina."

Nagbuntonghininga ako bago sumagot. "I'm sorry. Hindi . . . hindi naman tinanggap ni Enzo."

Napakunot-noo siya. "What?"

"That's not what I mean." He chuckled again. "But it's not important anymore."

"I'm really sorry."

Tumango siya saka itinuloy na ang pagkain. "It's alright. Kumain ka na."

Tumango ako bago kinuha na ulit ang spoon and fork. Tahimik pa rin siya and for some reasons, it made me feel uneasy. I don't like this feeling whenever I am with him. It's not comforting.

There will be times that you'll feel sad because of some reasons and we can't really avoid it. I may not want this but it's all my fault.

But really, what I think is I shouldn't have told Enzo about that. After all . . . it was a half-baked proposal. I don't want to go home yet . . . not now that I am starting to enjoy this whole trip.

If this is a normal night, he would ask me to walk around para bumaba ang kinain namin. This one thing really confirmed that he's upset with me.

"Just call me if you need anything, okay? I'll be out for tonight so I might not read your message so please call if you need me," sabi niya pagkatapos naming pumasok sa loob ng room.

Umawang ang bibig ko sa sinabi niya. "What? Where are you going? It's already 9:00 PM."

He smiled a little. "I just feel the need to drink. I'll go to a bar."

I gulped as I felt my heart beating so fast. "S-Sama ako."

Umiling siya. "You need to rest."

Umiling din ako bilang sagot. "Sasama ako. Wait for me, I'll change." Bahagya siyang nakangiti bago tumango. "What kind of bar will you go to?" I asked as I looked for my things inside my luggage.

"It's an open area bar near the beach. You can wear anything you want."

"Where was that?"

He chuckled. "We'll be back to Panglao once again. Sasama ka pa rin?"

Tumango ako bago tumingin sa kan'ya, "I'll go with you. Wait for me."

It's a long dress na umabot na malapit sa paa ko and it has a slit on the right side. It's very beautiful.

After that, I went out of the bathroom. Gusto ko sanang maligo muna but I don't want to make him wait that long. Sasabit na nga lang ako, eh. Hindi rin naman ako mabaho since all we did earlier was to swim. I think it's fine.

I rolled my hair up into a bun and I smiled at how pretty I am right now. With my red lips that matched my beach dress, I know that I'll be a headturner in that place. I have always been a headturner whenever Enzo and I went to a place with many people—like parties and events—and this is nothing new to me . . . except that I have no boyfriend as of now.

"I'm good to go.

"Uhh, y-yes. Let's go."

Sumakay ulit kami ng motor niya saka nagsuot ng helmet. Katulad ng sinabi niya kanina, I wrapped my arms around his waist as he started driving. I don't know why I suddenly want to be closer with him. I feel so guilty over something pero okay naman na raw sa kan'ya.

I know that I shouldn't mind that too much but . . . this is Grayson. He helped me a lot in my few days of stay here.

I will do him a favor—anything—basta ibalik niya lang yung usual treatment niya sa akin.

In less than thirty minutes, nakarating na kami sa open bar na sinasabi niya. It was really just beside the beach and I saw many people partying there. Women were wearing beach dresses too, like me, and men are in their usual casual clothes like Grayson beside me. Some are wearing their shirts and trunks, though.

The music is so loud, kailangan ko pang lumapit kay Grayson para lang marinig ang mga sasabihin niya kung sakali. People in this place are enjoying themselves, so they are very, very loud too. It's okay, though. It makes me want to enjoy this place, too.

Naupo kami nang magkatabi since the only vacant tables were a single long chair with a table in front of it. "What do you want to drink?" he asked, leaning towards me so I could hear him clearly.

I shrugged. "I'll just have that, too!" I said as I leaned towards him again.

He gulped and looked away but he immediately looked at me again and smiled. "Mag-cocktail ka na muna."

He asked the waiter for a Margarita. We waited for a few minutes until it was delivered to our table, kasama ng isang bottle ng Tequila with two shot glasses. "Thanks," he said.

Iniabot sa akin ni Grayson ang Margarita. "Thank you," I said as he opened the bottle.

He poured his shot glass with it. I waited for him para makipag-cheers sa kan'ya.

We both watched the people dance to the loud music. Some are shouting and screaming because they are enjoying the party. It was like whenever I partied in BGC. The difference is, there are a lot of foreigners here, really. Some women are only wearing their bikinis and they are wet because they swam on the beach.

Ibinalik ko na ang atensiyon kay Grayson. Gano'n pa rin siya. Tahimik.

I sighed. "Are you still upset?"

He shook his head before he poured both the shot glasses with it. "I'm not. I just really want to drink right now."

I sighed again. "Grayson, it's okay if you're upset with me. It's really okay. Kasalanan ko naman, eh. I promised not to think about the people there and to only think of myself while I am here. Hindi ko nagawa 'yon kanina so I'll understand if you're upset with me."

"Whether I'm upset or not, it's all on me, Summer. Wala kang kasalanan dito."

"Grayson . . . don't lie."

He shook his head before he drank his shot. After that, tumingin siya sa akin at bahagyang lumapit para magsalita malapit sa tainga ko. "I just did something stupid, okay? It's not really your fault."

Umiling ako. "Then tell me what that is."

He chuckled to my ears. My face heated. "I told you something that I can't stand for."

Napakunot-noo ako. "And? What's that?"

He shook his head. "I can't tell you just yet."

"Come on, I'll do you a favor."

He laughed. "What favor?"

I shrugged. "Anything."

He was thinking deeply . . . like something important depends on it. Few minutes of silence and then he looked at me with his serious eyes.

"Then . . ." He leaned towards me. "Can you not . . . answer any calls from the people in your hometown? Even your parents? Even . . . him?"
