45: FEBRUARY 2019 - Part Two Perhaps

"So, he said it once and that's it?" Selina asked, putting down her fork.

Luisa was having brunch with Selina and Megan. Because of their busy schedules, they didn't get to indulge in their brunch dates the way they used to before. It had been almost six months since they'd been out together. This was one of the rare occasions when they all had free time.

Luisa shrugged. "Yes, but, it's...okay."

"Is that what you want?" Selina asked softly, looking at her friend's face.

"I guess. I don't know," Luisa replied. At her friends' stares, she sighed. "I mean, of course, I would like to marry him. I didn't mean that I wasn't sure about that. Ever since I can remember, I always imagined...gosh, I sound pathetic."

"No, you don't," Selina was quick to respond. "When you're in love with someone, the thought crosses your mind often. There's no shame in that."

Megan nodded. "Yeah. I still can't believe he asked you but hasn't mentioned it again in...how long?"

Luisa inhaled. "A month."

She caught her two friends exchanging glances. "It wasn't as if he kneeled and proposed. It was more like an idea."

"Uh-huh," Megan grunted. "When did he bring up this idea? Were you just talking? Having dinner?"

Luisa's face felt hot all of a sudden. "We were...you know...in bed..."

"I take it you weren't getting ready to sleep," Selina volunteered.

"Honey," Megan patted Luisa's hand. "You're saying you fucked him so good, he uttered a proposal. Now, that's impressive."

Luisa shook her head. "It wasn't like that...well, maybe it was, but I didn't think it was just something he called out in the heat of passion. I mean, does that happen?"

"I'm sure," Megan replied. "Well, not to me—" She glanced at Selina.

Selina gave a dainty shrug. "Lulu, it doesn't mean anything bad. Just because he said it during sex doesn't mean that, well, that he didn't mean it. Think about it. There are so many things he could've yelled out at that moment."

Megan nodded. "For sure. Most guys don't usually yell out 'Marry me' when they're fucking." Selina's glare startled her. The petite girl hated vulgarities. "I mean when they are in the...throes of passion—"

"I get it," Luisa interrupted her. "I do. I know Jin's not like that. I can't help thinking that there's something else going on. We hadn't talked about it, so it seemed strange that he'd bring it up just like that. I said yes, but then he never brought it up again."

"Oh, I'm sure he brought something up again," Megan snickered before Selina slapped her arm.

"Honey, I'm sure it's nothing bad," Selina said. "We all know he loves you. That's not in question. I do agree that it's probably not often that men propose marriage while they're in that state, but I'm sure it wasn't a mistake on his part. If he said the words, they were on his mind. Have you asked him? Maybe he thinks you just agreed...in the throes of passion."

Luisa moved the food around on her plate. "No, I haven't asked about it. I don't want to sound desperate. What if he did just mindlessly say that out loud? What if he doesn't even remember saying it?"

"Just ask him," Megan said. "You are in a committed relationship. The question is not out of left field. And if he doesn't remember, then fuck him senseless again. He'll end up dragging you down the aisle." She laughed, ignoring Selina's glare.

After a few seconds, they all started laughing.

Luisa felt her phone buzz and picked it up. "Oh. It's Jin."

"Maybe he wants to propose?" Megan chuckled.

"He texted that he needs to see me," Luisa said. She looked up from her phone. "He says it's important."

"There! You see!" Selina exclaimed. "He was probably waiting for the right time to make it official. You can hardly tell your family how the actual proposal happened. At least I don't recommend it."

Luisa was still looking at her phone. "He says that he's sending his cousin Taehyung to pick me up. He wants me to text him my location."

"His cousin?" Megan repeated. "Wow. This got serious fast. Already meeting the family." She raised her eyebrows. "Lulu, maybe you can share some pointers on your technique. I swear, you fucked that boy silly." She laughed as Selina slapped her arm again.

Twenty minutes later, an extremely handsome young man stood next to their table. His eyes were kind even if his mouth betrayed some anxiety. When he realized the three women were waiting for him to speak, he smiled, his mouth forming a charming boxy grin.

"Annyeonghaseyo," he said with a small bow. "Uh, I mean, hello. I'm Seokjin's cousin, Kim Taehyung. I'm sorry if my English is, uh, not good."

"They sure breed them handsome in his family," Megan said under her breath. She smiled at Taehyung. "Honey, your English is fine."

Taehyung's smile got wider. "Thank you." He turned to Luisa. "He ask for me to bring you. You are Luisa, yes?"

Luisa nodded. "Yes. I'm sorry. Nice to meet you, Taehyung. I'm Luisa. And these are my friends Megan and Selina."

Taehyung bowed again. "How are you? Nice to meet you." He looked closer at Selina. "You are wife of Min Yoongi, yes?"

Selina beamed. "Yes, I am. How did you know?"

The handsome man nodded. "I see pictures. Yes."

Luisa cleared her throat. "So, where does Seokjin want you to bring me?"

The young man pursed his lips in thought. "Geuneun gyeolhon-e—I mean, he...he wants to talk about...about, hmm. Marriage?" His eyes looked unsure. "He wants to talk about marriage."

Megan and Selina made little noises of delight while Luisa tried to control her smile.

"O-Okay," she mumbled.

"I have taxi...outside..." Taehyung shrugged, apparently hoping that the woman understood. "We go."

"Of course," Luisa replied, waving at her excited friends. "I guess I'll call you later." She got up and hooked her purse over her shoulder. "Okay. Let's go."

He helped her into the waiting cab.

Luisa turned to him. "You're sure he said marriage?"

Taehyung bit his lip and nodded. "Yes. He said his marriage."

The brown-haired woman flashed a confused smile. "His marriage? Do you mean...our wedding?"

His dark eyes went wide. "Ohhhh. Wedding." He paused again. "Seokjin...he go back to Korea for wedding. To get married." He gave her a tight smile. "Did I say that right?"

Luisa's throat had gone dry. "I...I—" She inhaled. "Taehyung, what do you mean?"

"He will tell you," Taehyung continued. "We see him soon."

Luisa's heartbeat raced as she stared out the window. Maybe Taehyung's English was not as good as she thought. Maybe he meant Seokjin wanted to talk about their wedding, and he wanted the wedding in Korea.

Or maybe he meant...
