41: NOVEMBER 2018 - Monkey in the Wrench

"So, why am I the one who's here talking to you instead of Seokjin?"

Megan fixed Luisa with a sharp stare, her eyebrow arched, her arms crossed.

Luisa folded another shirt and stuffed it into the suitcase.

"Because I don't want him to ask again about going with me to visit my parents," the brown-haired girl replied. "I don't think it's a good idea."

"And it doesn't make any sense," Megan said, pushing some clothes out of the way to sit down on the bed. "I don't understand why you don't want him to go. No matter how bad the problem or how bad he'll take it, it's still a hell of a lot better than lying and having him find out on his own." She exhaled noisily. "And if there's a problem, he will find out."

"Maybe he won't," Luisa insisted, stuffing more clothes into the case. "Once my dad has all his questions answered, I will explain to him that he'll need to find a new financial adviser, and then that will be that."

"I don't understand." Megan threw herself down on the bed and sighed dramatically. "For such a smart woman, you really are an idiot. What does a financial adviser have to do with anything?"

"I'm trying to avoid problems," Luisa replied.

"You're only going to cause more problems, Lulu. Why can't you see that?" She raised herself up on one elbow. "If you truly love Seokjin, then you need to be open and honest with him. What do you think a relationship is about? You think it's only about the bouncy-bouncy you do on this bed?" She sat up quickly. "Oh. You have changed the sheets, right?"

Luisa rolled her eyes. "I know what a relationship is about, okay? I know about the honesty and the trust and all that, but I also know that I don't have to provoke problems unnecessarily. We've just started dating. I can't jeopardize what we have. It's still at the fragile stage."

"Oh, is it?" the tall redhead snapped. "Maybe it's at the fragile stage because you've kept it there. He's all in, Lulu. Why aren't you? Hobi tells me that Seokjin is completely in love with you."

"Hobi?" Luisa asked, arching her own eyebrow.

Megan shook her head dismissively. "Hoseok and I have gone out to dinner a couple of times...just as friends."

"And?" Luisa prompted.

"And," the redhead continued, uncharacteristically shy, "...and I think he's super cool. He makes me laugh. We have a good time together."

"Oh? How good?"

Megan threw a pillow at her friend. "I said we're friends. We haven't taken that step yet." She paused. "Not that I haven't thought about it, but he hasn't asked, and I'm willing to wait. I don't want to muck things up this time."

"Hm," Luisa nodded. "I'm glad to hear that. Hoseok is a nice guy. He would never deliberately hurt anyone."

"Thanks, but now back to the real issue," the redhead said. "Why exactly don't you want Seokjin to go with you to visit your parents?"

Luisa sighed and sat down on the bed. "Please don't tell anybody, not even Sel. She'll tell Yoongi and then...well, please keep this quiet."

"I'll be as silent as the grave," Megan replied solemnly and sat next to her.

"The abridged version is this: my father needed to rearrange all his finances and things like that after his accident. My mother's friend offered to have her son take care of all that since he's a recently-graduated finance attorney. My parents have known him almost all his life and gladly agreed to have him help my father."

Megan frowned. "I'm still not getting it, Lulu. What does this have to do with anything?"

"The lawyer helping my dad is Charlie."

Megan blinked rapidly, then shook her head. "I don't understand."

"It's Charlie Ramos. My ex Charlie Ramos," Luisa exhaled. "Now do you get it? My mom is good friends with his mom, and apparently, we're all having Thanksgiving dinner together."

"Oh, shit."

"Not only that," the brown-haired girl continued. "That idiot gave his mom the impression that we're still close, and now my parents are thrilled that we might be getting back together. She's called me several times to ask me what Charlie's favorite foods are and stuff like that."

"Just tell them. Tell them that you've been broken up for years. Tell them that you haven't talked to him since graduation!" Megan exclaimed. "Tell them that you're with Seokjin, for God's sake!"

Luisa nodded. "Yes, I will. Of course, I will. But I didn't want to spring it on them over Thanksgiving dinner. I can't just blurt it out over mashed potatoes and gravy. And it would make things a lot more awkward if Jin is there with me. There's no telling what stupidities Charlie will say in front of him."

Megan shook her head. "No. I don't agree with you. I think you should tell Seokjin everything right now before things get out of hand. He's a grown man. He'll know how to deal with Charlie if that ass dares to say anything stupid." Megan let out a frustrated growl. "That fucking monkey face! He needs to back off now."

Luisa was about to speak when her doorbell rang. With a loud sigh, she left the bedroom to go answer the door.

Seokjin stood there, grinning from ear to ear, looking relaxed yet stylish, and oh, so handsome. "Surprise, baby!"

She gulped. "Wh-What do you mean? What surprise?"

She stepped aside as he entered the apartment. That's when she noticed that he was pulling a small rolling suitcase.

He turned around to face her. "I decided to go with you to your parents' house. I want them to know about us. I want to tell them that I'm serious about you."

Luisa's heart began to race. "W-Wait. What?"

He scooped her into his arms and kissed her passionately. When he let her go, he smirked. "I want to tell them that I love you. I'm not letting you out of my sight."

She tried to catch her breath and think, but his kisses always scrambled her brain. All she wanted was for him to kiss her again.

So, when he did, she forgot all about what she was going to tell him and just nodded her head when he asked if she was ready.

Megan stood leaning against the door frame to the bedroom. "Well, that's one way to solve a problem," she quipped. "Nice going."

Seokjin chuckled. "There never was a problem. Lu and I are doing great, aren't we, babe?" He smiled when she nodded. "Anyway, it's a long drive. I'd say we better hit the road before I change my mind and carry you into your bedroom."

Megan smiled and shook her head. "Oh, you kids. I guess I'll head out just in case you're serious about some bedroom time." She paused at the front door. "And don't forget to get that monkey off your back, Lulu."

Seokjin looked between them, confused. "Huh?"

"Nothing," Luisa murmured.

Megan sighed and closed the door behind her.
