3: JUNE 2015 - Changed
It had been two weeks since he'd enjoyed that wonderful night with Lu, but she hadn't called him. He hadn't been able to forget their night together. Seokjin had been on the verge of calling her several times. He'd even had her number on the screen with his thumb hovering over the call button, but he'd not pressed it. He had clearly tossed the ball into her court, and she hadn't hit it back.
"Yo, where are you, man?" Hoseok chuckled. "You've been MIA for a while now. What gives?"
Seokjin stared at the guys around the table as if he'd forgotten they were there. Jung Hoseok and Min Yoongi had been his friends and brothers since they pledged their fraternity together during freshman year. If anybody could read him, they could. Keeping something from them was close to impossible.
"Yeah," Yoongi started. "You know it's been two weeks since graduation. Two weeks since we saw you walk off with Luisa Cruz, and you've never told us what happened."
Hoseok elbowed him. "Hey, I think we know what happened." Both of them laughed. He turned to Seokjin. "What we'd like to know is how was it?"
"How was it?" Seokjin repeated.
"How was she?" Hoseok clarified. "Luisa is pretty, but she always gives off this good girl nerd vibe."
Yoongi nodded. "Yeah. She's cute enough, but she's so serious. Almost cold."
"Never figured the Ice Queen would go for a ride on the Kim Seokjin Night Train. Choo-choo!" Hoseok added. Both of them chuckled again.
Seokjin shook his head. "If you already know what happened, then why do I have to tell you?" His mind went back to Luisa's directive never to speak of it and to forget it happened. But could he forget? It had been two weeks, and she was still on his mind. "Besides, it's a jerk move to kiss and tell."
Hoseok shrugged. "Yeah, maybe. But we're not just anybody, Jin. We're your brothers. You want to hear about me and Shelley? Man, if only you could—"
"I don't," Seokjin cut him off. He was not about to sit there and trade stories with anybody, even his best friends. Luisa was not a recreational activity. She was different. She wasn't a hook-up—even though, technically that's what they did. In his eyes, she was something special, and talking about it would cheapen it.
The guys looked at each other then turned back to Seokjin.
"Okay, then." Hoseok ducked his head and took a sip of his beer.
"Jin, don't tell me that you have feelings for her," Yoongi said.
"Did I say that?" He kept his eyes down.
"Do you have to?" Yoongi asked. "I know it's only two weeks, but I haven't seen you look at any other girl since graduation. You'd think that breaking up with Camilla would've set you loose on the female populace of the metroplex, yet you've gone dark. Could it be that the saintly Luisa Cruz has ruined you for other girls?"
Hoseok nodded. "I know you've mentioned before that she deserved someone better than Charlie. True, he was a dick, but I thought you just wanted to bang her because you saw her as a challenge. I would definitely---"
"Can we not talk about her?" Seokjin again interjected. "That asshole dumped her right after graduation. Let's not start talking about who wants to bang her. Just... drop it." He certainly did not want to hear his friend's comments about Luisa or what they would do with her. Why couldn't they just grow up and stop talking about girls as if they were entertainment?
"At least you're rid of Camilla. She turned purple when she saw Perfect Princess Luisa stick her tongue down your throat." Yoongi chuckled. "She thought you'd never get over her. Well, you showed her."
"Yeah, she thought those fake boobs of hers entitled her to treat you like shit. Although she did look good in a tank top."
Seokjin could hear them talking and laughing as if from a distance. He had no desire to defend Camilla or to join in their jokes. He felt so far removed from that childish chatter. Just two weeks ago, he would've been laughing right along with them. He would've been describing things that should've been private, all for laughs.
But two weeks ago, his life had changed. Two weeks ago, Luisa had made him want more from a relationship, something he didn't even realize he wanted.
