The Fate of Two
Her short golden hair mixed with streaks of shining bronze was tied into a pony tail. She had glasses that suited her perfectly; and the fair complexions of her skin was just beautiful, but above it all were her brown eyes that looked like pearls. She was there in the midst of her friends. Her name was Maddison Mane. A Frisbee flies straight at me, but before my face could feel the impact of the object it froze in motion just a few inches. With a quick reaction, I took the thing realizing my powers were working on its own through pure instinct.
A physically fit teenager with an undercut, wearing a red tank top, and shorts came up to me with a bit of worry in his tone, "Woah, you okay man?" I still had his frisbee held in my hands.
"H-here you go," I timidly said, reaching out to return it to him, "I wasn't... ummm, paying attention."
"Damn, did it hit you?" he replied getting back his frisbee from my grasp. His friend standing in the background – was also as physically built as him – scratched the back of his head, sharing the same concern on his face though with a mix of embarrassment.
I chuckled feeling even more awkward and replied, "Yeah, I'm fine, I guess?" crap I hope no one noticed the frisbee that could defy the laws of physics; and from what I have already read in everyone's mind just seconds after this happened (except for the guys who came up to me and their now confused looking group of friends) no one paid much attention.
"For a second there, I thought I saw—"
"Oh no, no I just caught it and... yeah" I cut him off even before he could say another word, as I tried to come up with an excuse; albeit not a good one to hide the real fact.
"Never mind about that," the guy said as he reached out his hand to greet himself. We both shook hands. "Oh my, you've been sweating a lot?" he said wiping off his now wet hand. Oh, yeah I forgot to dry myself up, but at least the heat of the sun was able to slowly take care of that. "The name's John, and that right there," pointing out his finger to his friend, who gave a wave at me, "Is my friend Erik."
I looked at him and saw the circle of friends was now staring at me; some of them smiling and chuckling, while others whispered things about me–not bad ones though. I nearly blushed when the girl with a ponytail was also looking at me, having the same reaction as her friends.
"My name is Loyd," I replied to him with a smile.
John nodded his head returning a smile and then returning back to his friends. I heaved a sigh, but then John turned his back to say, "Hey, care to join us?"
Wow, these people are kind of friendly towards me. I didn't know how to react to that. I've never had any friends I think, but this could be my chance to start now.
"Ummm, sure thing!" I said following him to join the company.
