Pidge's POV

"Your beautiful tonight Pidge." That voice, I know that voice. The one I dread the most now. I turned my head. I didn't say anything.

"Seeing you in that dress. Just. Wow." Lance seemed to be in complete awe. Was it because I'm wearing a dress? Because I look like a "lady"? It's the same look he gave her not so long ago.

"Makes you a princess." I kept my head low, eyes gazing at my shoes. I could feel my eyes tearing up as I grit my teeth with rage. I wish he could just shut up!

"Maybe even my princess perhaps?" His princess? That's when I lost it.

I slapped Lance across his face, not as hard as I had wanted to, but just enough so it'll leave a mark.

"I am no one's princess! Especially not yours!" Everyone was looking at us now, I could even see Shiro and Allura from the corner of my eye.

"You are the worst person I've ever met, Lance McClain! I want nothing to do with you, I don't want you to speak to me ever again!" Sobbing, eyes shut, my fists balled and my head hanged low. I only looked up once. I let him finally see the pain in my eyes, my heart was finally starting to shatter that day. I thought I was broken before, seeing dad and Matt die in front of me, but now Lance? I should've known from the beginning .  I ran out of the ball room, furious. Instead I made my way to the my lion.

"Then he says I'm his princess! HIS princess!" Pacing back and forth in front of my lion. I was complaining to her like she understood me.

"It's just I don't understand!" I stopped pacing.

"I just lost Matt and dad plus my mom thinks we're all dead." My voice was trembling as I tried to get the words out.
"Does no one understand the pain I just went through? I could've been dead right now!" I just need to let it all out. "And I should've known since the beginning right? That Lance just likes girls that are tall, skinny, and beautiful. That he would never go for a nerd like me." I crumbled slowly to the floor, hands balled up pushing against the surface.
"He was toying with me all along!" Sobbing I yell at green. " And I went with it! I thought that maybe he changed!" I couldn't look up at green, not like this. I'm supposed to be the strong intelligent paladin of the green lion. Not a someone who would be crying about a boy.

"Pidge are you ok?" Eyes widened, I tried quickly to wipe away the tears that endlessly ran down my face. It was basically pointless.

"Yeah of course Allura. Why would you think otherwise?" I was still on the floor, voice still trembling, fist still balled even harder now that I could feel my nails digging into my skin.

"Then what happened back there?" I couldn't see her since I was still facing the floor, but I could tell she got closer.

"Just a little dispute." If I convinced myself that it was nothing maybe it'll do the same to her.

"Not true."

"What?"

"That's not true. Something is going on between you two."

"It's nothing Allura." I mumble.

"Tell me." I didn't answer.

"Tell me now, as your princess." She finished firmly. I got up, back still facing towards Allura.

"Do you want to know what happened? Do you really want me to remember that moment?" This time she didn't answer. "Cause I really can't. I don't ever want to think about that again."

"Pidge, if I don't know I can't help you."

"Then don't help me. I especially don't need it from you."

"Me? What did I do?" She had that confused, worried, ticked off voice.

"It's nothing." To be honest I'd want to tell her, but I need to figure out what I want to do first.

"You probably came here to tell me what I did wasn't lady like or something and drag me back to the ball right? Lets just save time and go." I was walking towards the exit until Allura grabbed ahold of my wrist pulling me back towards her.

"I did not come here to lecture you on proper etiquette. I came here to tell you that you hurt Lance's feelings and you should say sorry." Her voice was stern, like when were on missions.

"You want me to say sorry?" I'm confused. Did no one see me basically fall apart, is everyone on Lance's side?

"Yes. He was on the verge on crying and he just gone silent the whole night, that's unlike him."

"I don't understand." I tried pulling my hand back quickly when she was off guard causing Allura to loosen her grip. "After all that happened. I should apologize?" Unbelievable.

"The other Paladins and I think that it would be best. I don't know what's going on between you two, but that's a discussion for another time. What I do know is that you lashed out on Lance." This definitely sounded like a lecture.

"But after he-." I turned away causing me to not finish my sentence. Anything I would do will just cause more of a problem. I would have to just listen for now.

We were walking back into the ball and once again all eyes were on me, I could tell it was for different reason other than Allura. It's fine right? I just kept repeating the same four words over and over again. Don't do anything stupid. Don't do anything stupid.

We made our way to Lance, and I would say that it was the most dreadful minutes of my life, but I had worse. When Lance finally came into view you could see that Keith was on his right side drinking a purple and sparkly substance. Hunk, on the left, patting Lance on the back as if it were to comfort him and Shiro who was not too far off, but he was to busy sharing a laugh with one of the leaders to even notice us. When Lance saw us I could tell he straighten up, he also shooed Hunk's hand away.

"Pidge wants to say something." Allura said towards the three of them. I stepped up from behind Allura. It made no sense why I had to say sorry.

"I'm- I'm sorry Lance." I looked straight into his eyes, he gave me a slight smile telling me is ok.

"Glad that's over. You were a kind of mean to Lance earlier, but I'm glad you took notice and decided to apologize." Hunk sighed putting his hand over his chest. Giving me a small side hug before walking off to talk to one of the chefs.

"Yeah, it was a little uncalled for. I mean all he called you was a princess. Isn't that a compliment or something?" Keith sipped out of his drink. "I mean it's probably not my place, but I never would've guessed you would do that." He finished off. Not long, Allura had already left to join the conversation Shiro was having with a diplomat and Keith didn't want to stay with us since he believed there was still tension.

So there we both stood.

"You know I didn't actually mean that." I said to him.

"It's ok Pidge, what you said is in the past now."

"No. I mean I'm not sorry for what I did. I don't plan on being sorry for that." I crossed my arms.

"But why? What did I do?" I could tell he truly didn't know. But that just made me angrier. Don't do anything stupid. I kept telling myself that as a warning. Warning me that I will do something stupid. So I just walked away, not giving him an answer or an explanation.

"Wait Pidge." He clutched my wrist restraining me from leaving. Don't do anything stupid.

"What did I do?" I kept my head down, I didn't want to see his face. If I saw it I knew I would cry. I didn't even answer him, afraid that when I do I won't be able to constrain myself.

"Pidge. I'm not letting you go until you tell me." I don't understand why I can't just be left alone. I said I'm sorry already.

"Lance." I spoke softly almost a whisper.

"Yes?"

"If I tell you why, I would be crying and honestly as ridiculous as it sounds I would be in pain. I wouldn't know what to do with my self. I'll hide in my room, I won't come out, I won't eat, I won't sleep, knowing that you know why. So just please let go." And so he did, he was shocked definitely. He hesitated before releasing my hand, he knew I was gonna do something stupid. Then he immediately grabbed it back pulling me towards him.

"No." He said.

"No? Lance you don't understand."

"Your right I don't. But you can't say that your pain is caused from me. I didn't do this to you."

"You did."

"No Pidge, I didn't."

"You did! You did it all! The reason why I feel this way! The reason why I cry everyday, or why I can never sleep, or even when I sprained my stupid ankle! You did it all!" I yelled towards him. I yanked my hand away from him. "This is why I never want to see you again! Because you only cause me pain." That's it. It's out. I finally did something stupid. I cupped my hands at my mouth as if I didn't want anything else to come out unwillingly.

He stood there. In shock? Pity? I don't know and frankly I don't care at the moment either. He walked over to me in caution.

"Pidge I-." He was kind of a stuttering mess, it was something that I would usually laugh at, but now. Now it's something that hurts.

"I can't." I ran, ran somewhere farther away then my hangar. Somewhere where Allura can't find me, or Hunk, Shiro and Keith. And definitely somewhere where Lance can't find me.

Lance's POV

2 months ago we were kissing. How'd we end up like this.

"I can't." That's all she said. I didn't even get an reason. I don't know why she's upset especially at me. As she ran towards the doors of the castle I could the murmurs from the guest. Shit.

"Allura is gonna be pissed."

"I already know that! I don't even know where she went."

"Why is she mad at you anyway."

"I don't know Keith! Maybe she just hates me!" I flung my arms in the air. The party was basically over and Pidge never came back.

"Well it's been over an hour."

"So?" I pouted.

"Shouldn't we be concerned? We have to look for her."

"If you want to find her so bad, do it! I'm not stopping you, but I will not going after her myself."

"Why not?"

"I don't have time for this." I placed my drink on the punch table. Maybe I could get lost in the crowd, even though as people left it was harder to.

"There you are!" I felt as my ear got snatched.

"Oh! Allura."

"Let's go Lance. The last of the people are staying the night at the castle."

"Which means?"

"Which means they are allowed to roam free."

"Ok that's great." I tried to squirm away from her grip. Do all Alteans have this much strength?

"That means we are going after Pidge. All 5 of us, while Coran stays with the guests."

"No thanks. I'll stay here and charm the ladies." I finger gunned a couple of girls walking past us. They giggled and whispered. I could possibly get one of those girls tonight. Within a second my mind went blank an everything around me turned black.

Pidge's POV

I didn't go far. Well maybe it was little far, but I could still see the castle in my vision.

"I hope they aren't worried that I left."

They won't be.

That voice, it's the voice. The one I'd always hear whenever I feel down or whenever Lance gets in my mind.

But why?

You slapped him and ran away. Then when you went to go apologize then you ran away again. They feel pity for the guy. He did nothing wrong in the situation.

That's only to them. He did everything wrong.

I suppose so. But what will you do?

I don't know.

I don't know what to do this time. I can't run anymore, there is no escaping it. I should go back and act like nothing happened. Forget this whole thing, or at least make them believe that I did.

Time skip
Pidge's POV still

"Hey guys." All eyes went on me as I stood at the door frame.

"Your back." Shiro said. Honestly right now he sounds like my dad.

"I was so scared something happened!" Hunk cried.

"Glad your ok." Keith semi smiled.

"Honestly I'm upset with you two, but for now I'll put aside until Lance wakes up. Would you need help out of your outfit?" Allura stood up. What happened to Lance?

"Oh no thanks. I'll go now." I waved back. If I asked about him, they'll definitely be confused. My behavior tonight doesn't make sense to anyone really.

"She's looking better." I could hear in the distance Shiro talking to the others. I stood still as the door slid behind me.

"I'm glad. I've never seen her so upset before." Allura whispered back.

"What you guys knew?" Hunk exclaimed.

"That she was upset? Of course." She replied.

"Then why'd we take Lance's side?" He asked.

"Because what she did is unacceptable at the ball. If it was just us I would've heard what she had to say and-." She got cut of by Lance.

"Wait she tried explaining to you why she's mad at me and you didn't listen?" He sounded mad.

"Oh Lance, I didn't see you awake there." Her tone of voice changed.

"Allura. Did she or did she not try to explain?"

"I can't say she did. She was crying and talking to green when I walked in on her."

"So you told her to apologize to me?" He's yelling now.

"You were upset and down."

"But she was crying! No wonder why she hates me, you all cared for me while she was the real one upset."

"Well did you want me to say something to her!" Someone stood up and was walking towards the door. I could hear their footsteps. Clink clink clink. It was Allura, That noise was definitely her shoes. She slid opened the door and I could see from her expression she was frustrated.

"Oh Pidge! I didn't hear you from the other side of the door." The others tried to peer through the door. I kept my face looking straight. Was all that true?

"Your crying. What happened?" She questioned as if she didn't know what she just said.

"Are you serious? Are you all serious right now?" My voice was quaking and that's when I stared into Allura's eyes.

That was it. They officially broke me.
