Chapter 4

Steven was reading more of the No Home Boys when a small movement caught his attention. A rustle on the couch. He turned his head toward the sleeping girl, only to catch another movement. He quickly put his book down and faced her.

-----------------------

Her. Head. Hurt.

With a soft groan, she opened her eyes, hissing at the light. She grabbed the first thing in her reach and covered her head with it. The girl opened her eyes again, much more welcoming to the darkness.

A noise rang in her head, bringing pain. She felt a soft tap on her protector and instinct took cover.

-------------------

"Ow!", Steven groaned. "Remind me to never get in a pillow fight with you.", he mumbled. The boy tapped where the pillow smacked him and brought him down.

Getting up, he spoke softly, "Okay, let's try this again. I'm Steven. Steven Universe. What's your name?" He held out an expectant hand to shake, only to see the girl shut her eyes tightly, pillow still held high.

"Oh, you probably got a migraine or something. Here, I got something that can help." Universe took off to the medicine cabinet, leaving her be.

------------------

She sat down gently, worried any sudden movement might trigger another wave of pain. The girl opened her eyes slowly, examining her point of captivity. It didn't look like any prison she's ever seen before. Lots of room, furnishings, even a warp pad.

If these natives treat their prisoners this kindly, she's practically home free. But she couldn't go anywhere with her ulo in such a poor state. She was never the buff type. Her mind is her strong suit.

"I'm back!", the noise cleared up, turning into a voice. A native, she assumed, came back with some Afllic and these little, odd shaped things that didn't look or smell appealing for consumption.

"These will help with the headache.", it said, handing the items to her. The girl looked at it with a raised eyebrow, wondering if it was serious. Receiving a nod, she shrugged and swallowed the things with the Afllic.

Yep, she was expecting a horrible taste.

Nonetheless, she felt a little better, and gave a smile of gratitude. It returned the gesture, and held out it's kamot. She looked at it, with no clue of what it was doing.

"Hi. I'm Steven. What's your name?"

She was a little taken aback by the fact she could understand this, Steven, character. But if she really wanted to keep away from going back, she would have to make friends. The one thing she was never good at.

Steven took her kamot and began to move it. Taking note of this, she continued the motion while thinking. The girl opened her baba, only to shut it again.

Steven noticed this and spoke up. "You can get a new one, if you want. But you only get one chance."

The girl looked to the side, viewer reflecting her a little. It's name seemed a little odd, not being named after a gem, but, if she wanted to fit in, maybe she should choose something like it. Looking at herself intently, she saw the moon in daylight on the other side. And like a gut feeling, it came.

"Artemis. My name is... Artemis." She turned around and shook Steven's kamot.

"Well, Artemis, welcome to Earth."
