Chapter 1

"Night guys!", Steven called out from his bed. "Good night Steven.", Garnet called back. As the gems went to their rooms in the temple, Steven took one more look at his surroundings before going to sleep.

She ran.

She ran into the escape pod, and shot away. Taking deep, heaving breaths, the weapons shot at her were swiftly dodged. She punched the gravity drive, not caring where it took her. As long as it was away from here.

As expected, the beams of light didn't last long. Her destination came barrelling towards her at full speed.

All she could do now was wait.

---------------------------------

Steven tossed and turned as he slept. Rubbing his eyes, he woke to find his gem glowing. Just a little. Nonetheless, he woke upright in a second, possibly less, and directed his full attention. "Okay, I'm awake. Whatcha want?" The glow disappeared. Steven shook his head, and it didn't come back.

Suggesting that it was dreamt up, he went back to his attempts of sleep.

-------------------------------

She took the handle, trying to slow down the shuttle. It did nothing, as the notification for a damaged engine popped up on the screen. Her fist was stopped shortly above the panel as her deep breaths got control of her anger. For the moment anyways.

The blue planet in front of her was soon engulfed by a yellow, no, orange flame. The ship's temperature spiked, her barely in consciousness. Nonetheless, her eyes refused to close. Her limitations wouldn't hold her back. Not this time.

Heavy breaths made the glass in front of her steam up. Gravity fell over her, weight doing nothing in comparison to the speed of the pod. It rumbled just a little more as she hit her head against the top, black clouded her vision, as blue surrounded the craft.

---------------------------------

Steven woke upright and looked out to the ocean. Something had crashed into it, just now. Getting up from his bed, his face went against the cool window. The waves took no haste to crash against the beach, evidence disappearing in minutes.

His brows lowered a little in thought.

What was that?

Pearl exited her room, stunned to see Steven awake. She was even more stunned to see his gem glowing. It was rather bright, and yet he seemed to not notice. "What are you looking at Steven?", she asked quietly. He didn't move.

As she went to join him, he simply said, "The ocean." She moved a little faster, and saw the waves. Some are a little bigger than the others, but he was looking beyond. Attempting to trace his line of vision, he continued, "Something crashed into the ocean." Looking at Pearl, his concerned face pressed against the window spoke a thousand words.

She smiled and nodded in understanding, summoning a weapon for battle.
