~Paige~

The rest of the week went by pretty slowly; it was finals week. I was having one of those monotonous routines: waking up, revising, taking the exam, coming back, studying and sleeping -repeat. From time to time, I'd go out for lunch with Chloé.

Today was my last exam, I had a two-hour economics exam.

As soon as I got out of the exam hall, I picked up my phone and found
11 missed calls and 3 text messages from no other person but Dylan.

-'Paige. Help'
-'Emergency'
-'I've got a business lunch with some friends I don't like and I need you to go with me'
-'I'm picking you up at 2:30...get ready'

It was 1:15 so I rushed home to shower and get ready.

I wore a cropped beige shirt which went around my neck, showing off my shoulders, with matching beige pants.

"Where did he say is the place?" Chloé asked when I went to get the red lipstick from her.

"I don't know. He didn't mention. He'll be here in fifteen minutes," I said, applying the lipstick.

"Mom will be here in two hours. I'll be back before that, anyways," I continued.

"That's what you always say, Paige".

"I'll be back in 10, comes back after an hour. I'll be a little late, comes back the second day in the afternoon," Chloé said walking around and complaining, reminding me of the times I said I'd be there soon and didn't.

Well, I don't blame her, I'd get pissed too if I were her. Gladly, I'm not.

"Text me when Mom arrives," I said as I walked downstairs and picked up my beige Hermes bag when Dylan called.

"Bye Paige, have fun on your date," Chloé said, waving.

"Not a date," I said, annoyed, giving her a glare before heading out of the house.

"Hi Dylan," I said, extending my words.

"Hello Paige. Got my messages?" he answered in the same tone, smirking.

"What do you think?" I asked, raising my eyebrows and laughing.

He then turned on the Bluetooth in the car's sound system, looking at me and smiling.

"You know me so well," I smiled as I connected my phone to his car's sound system and blasted it with some of my favorite songs.

As I listened to the different songs, I checked my makeup using the car's mirror, in case it needed some touch ups.

"There's no need to impress me that much with all your dressing up and lipstick," Dylan said, cockingly.

Oh.

"Darling I don't dress up for you, I dress up for me," I said glaring at him and then he laughed.

"You're incredible," he mumbled, shaking his head.

"I know."

"I need you to pretend that we're together."

"Why?"

"These people were my friends and some are my coworkers. We usually do a meeting like this, once in a while to mingle and talk about business and they mentioned something about bringing my girl with me. And I couldn't say I had no girl, so here I am," he admitted, sounding like a child. I couldn't help but laugh.

"You could have hired any top model who would do that, why me?" I asked after making fun of him.

"That's true. But I picked you," he nonchalantly said, his eyes still on the road.

"I won't agree so easily, you've got to...," I said as I pretended to think.

"As if you haven't agreed," he simpered, rolling his eyes. I gave him a smack on his shoulder, making him wince and then he started laughing.

"Yeah...so?"

"So..." he said as he raised his eyebrows, before he laughed and nodded.

"Gorgeous," he then said as he brought down his glasses and winked.

"I know," I said, flipping my hair and smirking.

"And you say I'm self absorbed," Dylan said.

"I got that from someone I've been spending so much time with...against my will," I said laughing.

"Against your will?!" he said, surprised and then pretended to seem hurt.

"Oh please Paige, you want to. We both know it," he smirked.

Maybe.

"You wish," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Why'd you come now? You could have said no," he stated.

"I had nothing to do, and I'm hungry," I said nonchalantly.

"Oh yeah. Keep telling yourself that," he said as he smirked and laughed.

"Continue," I said as I smiled wide.

"Audacious, funny, annoying, but bearable-," and that just made him get another smack on his shoulder.

"It's okay, stop begging. I'll help you," I avowed as I ruffled his hair.

I then searched through my bag looking for the small box of macaroons.

"I got an extra one for you," I said, winking as I stuffed the macaroons in my mouth.

"Why, thank you. I guess you learnt your lesson," he said, jokingly.

As we reached the restaurant, Dylan came down and opened the door for me, "Oh what a gentleman. We should do this more often," I teased.

As we got out, he held my hand and intertwined my hand with his, and the act began.

There were about seven other people, several guys with their dates and partners.
I got introduced to all of them and they were all friendly, and polite except a person who seemed disliked by Dylan and seemed impolite and lacking proper manners. He gave me a dirty look and a smirk-not Dylan's smirk, an unfriendly -perverted smirk. Whenever he tried to get into the conversation, Dylan would try his best to avoid him.

"Want to do something later?" the same guy walked closer to me and whispered and winked.

I had noticed Dylan trying to avoid him.

"Excuse me, who do you think I am?" I said, raising my eyebrows in disgust.

"Playing hard to get. You'll get nowhere babe," he laughed, rolling his eyes and walked away.

"Are you okay?" Dylan asked as we walked towards our table, hand in hand.

"Of course," I answered, trying to smile, not wanting to ruin his day or make him cause a scene.

"We'll leave in a bit. I'm sorry for dragging you here," he whispered in my ear as he put his hand on mine and smiled.

Oh Dylan.
Could he get any more perfect?

After a few minutes, I decided to go to the restroom to call Chloé just to waste time; I was getting bored.

"Dylan, I'm going to the restroom," I said as I got up, excusing myself and walking towards the restroom.

Bringing out the lipstick for some touch ups, I heard the door creak open.

"Well, well. Look at what we have here," a deep voice said from behind.
A familiar voice infact.
