5.Lost Mission♢

The best is yet to come🔱

~Paige~

I felt something watching me.
You know that feeling you get while watching a scary movie. That moment when you feel that you're no longer alone and you dare not to turn to the left or right. That was exactly what I was feeling. I was so scared of opening my eyes.

Even though you're terrified, not having the guts to find out what it is, curiosity still
wins and gets the best of you.

'Curiosity killed the cat'

I opened my eyes swiftly and in a quick second a hand covers my mouth before I could blink. I tried to scream and wiggle so that it could let go off me but I failed.
"Could you keep it down, don't wake anyone!" he whispered, his hand still covering my mouth.

My eyes widened in surprise.

He let go his hand when he made sure I was calm and wouldn't do anything.

"Dylan! What are you doing here?!" I whispered. "Who let you in?"

"Get up sleepy head," he said pulling the duvet away from me,  ignoring the two questions I had just asked.

I dropped back my head on the pillow and closed my eyes.
"No I want to sleep!" I murmured sleepily.

I curled back into my sheets and clutched my pillow.
I had slept late yesterday and I still felt sleepy.

"Alright then, I'll go on with the plan without you," he said as he walked towards my door.

I groaned into my pillow and kicked off the sheets

"WAIT!" I said sitting up, as I rubbed my eyes. He stopped a few centimeters away from my door, turned and gave me the smirk, the smirk that said- he knew that I would do that.

"I'm coming just let me get ready," I said as I went into the toilet and brushed my teeth and hair.

"Give me ten minutes so I'll shower?" I asked.

"No time for showers Paige. Tie your hair up and dress up already," he said, annoyed.

"Geez! alright alright..." I said.

I picked a simple blue shirt with jeans and went towards the bathroom so that I could change.

I found Dylan following behind me. I turned and raised my eyebrows.
"Where do you think you're going?"

He laughed.

"Pervert." I rolled my eyes and closed the bathroom's door in his face.

"So how'd you get into my room?" I curiously asked as I wore my jeans and leaned on the door.

Didn't Jane see him?

"Oh, you don't want to know!" he sighed. I felt him lean against the bathroom door.

I opened the door swiftly and he almost fell down.

"What time is it by the way?" I asked as I opened the door and got out my sneakers.

"Eight thirty A.M," he said as he looked at his watch.

I stopped tying my shoe and looked up at him, giving him the 'what?' look.

"What? Didn't you hear him say ten? So we've got to be there early," he continued.

I tied my shoes and headed towards the dressing table and sprayed perfume.

"Are we going in my car or yours?" I asked.

"Mine," he said, winking .

"Can I drive?" I asked batting my eyelashes.

I knew he was going to say no, but I still asked, you know incase.

"No!" he answered batting his lashes as he got down to my level.

"Okay!" I said pushing him away.

"Let's see how we'll get out of here," I said going down the stairs slowly.

We slipped out silently without anyone noticing us.

••••

"Dylan," I said extending the word.

I leaned my head on the head rest and looked at him as he drove.

"yes?"

"I'm hungry," I said, pouting.

He glanced at me and gave a half smile before he looked at his watch and said "Alright, let's go to Starbucks," and I nodded in approval.

He then laughed and shook his head."You see now why I woke you up early?"

"Yes!" I slowly said, like a little child, nodding.
We went to Starbucks which was just around the corner.

I ordered a s'mores Frappuccino and a fresh blueberry honey yogurt.
Dylan ordered a double Chocolatey Chip Frappuccino, a mocha and a ham and Swiss Panini.

Talk about eating much!

It was about nine thirty five A.M so we ate and then got back into the car. I secretly sneaked in a chocolate cupcake into Dylan's car to eat on the way.

"Ten more minutes. There's only one port in the city which makes our job a whole lot easier, but we have to get there as soon as possible," Dylan said, "We might stay there till ten in the evening if they don't show up now."

"I hope there'd be restaurants there. I can't starve myself," I cooed, more to myself.

"Is that all you're worried about? Look at you," he laughed. "And I thought you don't eat, but starve yourself for the perfect figure."

"Dylan, Dylan not all girls are the same," I said as I gave an amused smile.

We arrived at about 9:50 A.M.

"Alright I just hope it's am and not pm," Dylan said.

"Me too," I whined, making a face as he parked the car.

The ship port was really big with shipping containers stacked on top of each other all around the area. Some ships were offloading while some were being loaded.

We waited but we didn't talk much because we had to be alert, using all our attention to find a sign or a hint.

....10:15
.........10:30
Nothing seemed off.
It was still the same with containers being loaded and offloaded. Nothing seemed suspicious.

"I don't think they'd do anything during the day. It should be in the dark," I suggested.

If someone wants to do something illegal it should be in the night when everyone is asleep. In the dark when their activities wouldn't be so visible.

I picked up my phone to call Jane, Chloé and my father to tell them I was alright and that they have nothing to worry about.

"My father always worries but my mom is kinda chill," I said as I dropped back my phone.

"I'm that guy your parents should warn you about," Dylan said like a teenage boy with a smirk.

I looked at him and raised my brow and asked, " the psychopath or player?" knowing well he meant the latter.

"One of them." He chuckled.

"Well if it's the player I have nothing to worry about."

"And why's that?" he curiously asked.

"Because when guys try to play me they get played instead," I announced, finishing it off with a wink.

"Are you saying you can play me?"

"Like a violin." I smirked.

He smiled, before he leaned closer so that his face was close to mine but not enough for our lips to brush.

"Well then maybe we'd be each others firsts," he whispered and I knew there was some kind of meaning behind it.

"So what are you studying in college. Business?" he asked, changing the topic.

"Yeah and my minor course is fashion design. Chloé and I have always wanted to host a fashion show together. Chloé's major is fashion design," I said. "This year is my last year. I'll either be your rival or merger." I winked.

"I'm better, don't worry." He smirked.

"Oh no, I'm not worried. I'm just warning you in advance," I said amused.

"Oh, but I should be the one to warn you," he continued, giving me an amused smile.

"We'll see next year," I said as I removed the cupcake from the bag.

"Hey! Where's mine?" he asked offended, when he saw the cupcake.

When buying desert I only think of myself, I know that's so selfish, but I ain't guilty.

"Only one and that's for me!" I said as I took a bite, "hmm so delicious!" I teased  as I moaned at its delicious taste.

I licked my lips slowly slowly, teasing him.

"Hhm you should have brought one," I continued, giggling.

He then took the rest of the cupcake from my hand and ate it all in one gulp.

"Hey my cupcake!" I rebuked.

"Hhm surely delicious," Dylan said, giving an amused smile.

"You'll bring me one next time. Now you'll never forget!" Dylan continued, smirking.

"There won't be a next time," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Oh we'll see." He smirked.

Okay, maybe there will be a next time.

"Can we like go home? We'll come back at nine in the evening?" I asked when I checked the time and saw that it was twelve P.M.

"Yeah sure," Dylan said as he reversed the car, leaving the port.

Halfway through the ride Dylan said:
"I want Italian... Want to try this restaurant called Babbo?"

I agreed and we headed towards the restaurant. We had an amazing time at lunch..

I entered the house and saw Chloé sitting on the sofa watching some kind of fashion show. She was so into it, taking notes with all her things scattered beside her. She then turned and saw me coming.

"Hi Chloé." I smiled and dropped my keys which I had mistakenly taken with me.

"You were with him weren't you, from eight?!" she asked as she stood up.

She didn't even greet me back.
Chloé and her interrogation.

"Maybe."

She shook her head in annoyance when I didn't say much.

"Look at you, this Dylan is getting under your skin." She laughed as she approached me.

"Jane come and see Paige the one who will never fall in love!" she hollered at Jane as she used two of her hands and held them to her mouth as she called her name.

"Yes, I won't. Don't worry we're just friends," I boringly said, assuring her.

"Not until one of you falls in love," she said rolling her eyes.

"Well, I know I won't!" I reassured her, earning a perfect arched brow followed by a half amused smile.

I rolled my eyes and decided to head upstairs to drop my bag and have a quick shower, so that I could study a bit for my finals.

Yes, I do study and yes, I do get good grades, but as you can see- not a nerd.

I studied for two hours, I got interrupted by my mother calling from France. I spoke to my mom on the phone while arranging my books.

I then walked downstairs and found Chloé in the garden reading a book, not wanting to interrupt her I headed back to my room, leaving her and her attempts to get me talking about Dylan or get as much information as she could behind.

Chloé was a hopeless romantic who often read romance fiction books. She believed in all sort of dumb romance theories, romance sayings, all these lust, love at first sight kind of shit.

She always tried to play match making with me, but couldn't fully succeed, because no person really did impress me.

°•°
... Two hours later.

I heard the sound of the elevator's ding and I turned to see who it was, because I wasn't expecting someone except Dylan, but he wasn't supposed to come until nine p.m.

"Dylan," I muttered, surprised as Chloé and I got up.

Chloé and I exchanged glances and she smiled at me teasingly.

"Hello Ladies," Dylan said, coming over.

"Dylan this is Chloé, Chloé this is Dylan," I said introducing them.

"Hello Chloé. I'm Dylan sparks," Dylan said and of course he had his signature move done.

I laughed and shook my head.

"I'm Chloé," Chloé said shaking his hand.

I could see her batting her lashes at him.
I mean who wouldn't like him, he's very attractive, but his ego is too big and he's going to take advantage of girls admiring him.

Chloé sat on the one-seater couch while Dylan came and sat next to me on the three-seater couch.

"Hi!" he said to me as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Hi Dylan. You're thirty minutes early," I said looking at my watch

"I wanted to see Chloé," he said winking at me teasingly and then looked at Chloé.

She smiled at him and blushed.

Oh my God Chloe!
Seriously girl, hold yourself!

"Okay," I said, extending the words, "I'm going up to get my things and then we can go," I said a minute later, getting up from the couch.

"Where are you guys going?" Chloé asked curiously.

"Cinema."
"Restaurant,"  Dylan and I simultaneously said.

"The restaurant first then cinema," I corrected immediately.

"I wanna come!" Chloé pouted.

"But... Uh-h it's a date," Dylan spluttered.

Great. Just great.
Was there any worse excuse?
No!
Thank you Dylan, thank you.

I widened my eyes at dylan and he mouthed a sorry.

"Ooooh. Paige said she'll never date ,guess dylan you're an exception," Chloé cackled as she winked at me.

Dylan smirked and winked at me.
"Paige's having so many exceptions because of me."

Oh God, this Dylan!

I went upstairs to my room, got my things, and got ready. I then went back down to Dylan and Chloé.

"Okay I'm ready," I told Dylan.
Chloé looked at me and raised her eyebrows in confusion.

I knew what she meant.

"Casual date," I said. assuring her, fake smiling at dylan and giving him the 'I'm going to kill you' glare.

"Yes, yes let's go," Dylan said, pulling me towards the elevator.

"Bye guys, have fun!" Chloé said, waving at us.

"Oh we will!" Dylan muttered.

"Date eh?" I looked at dylan, pissed.

"Sorry that's the only thing I could come up with," he said, raising his hands in defense.

"I'm so excited for this date my love," he sarcastically said, opening the car's door for me.

"Oh me too, I'm so glad you asked me out," I then said, batting my lashes.

He then plucked a flower and gave me, smiling like a teenage boy.

"GET IN..." I rolled my eyes, laughing.
