Paige👠

I found a black box on the table which had my name on it. On the other end of my dressing table, I noticed a bouquet of golden flowers.

"No way," I widened my eyes at what I saw, bringing out the pieces and looking at them with shock. I held up the torn pieces of the document between my hands and looked at them with wide eyes. He'd torn the agreement.

-I'll pick you up at 8, don't be stubborn.
Dylan Sparks.

"Who are they from?" Chloé asked coming down the stairs.

As if you don't already know.

"Dylan," I murmured as I admired the flowers.

"Go with him," she insisted.

"But I already spoke to Kendall, it won't be fair to bail on him the same day," I said hoping there was some other way, because I really did want to go with Dylan.

"I'll go with Kendall," Chloé suggested.

"Didn't anyone ask you?"

"They did, but I said I already had someone to go with, because I knew that this was going to happen," Chloé said as she picked up the torn papers and smiled.

"I love you, I wouldn't know what I'd do without you," I chirped as I hugged her.

"I just want you and Dylan together. I'll speak to Kendall, go get your dress."

I quickly got my purse to go and try on my dress one more last time. My designer had called and asked for a last fitting, before delivering the dress to my house.

As I was trying on my earrings in front of the mirror I heard a soft knock.

There he was, wearing a black Armani suit, sharp-looking and well-fitted holding a jewelry box. His tux was exquisitely cut and a perfect match for his suave manners: Cut to precision, bold across the shoulders, gentle lines around the waist, the perfect inverted triangle: black, satin lapels, perfect length and perfectly assorted with a satin bow.

"Almost done," I said as I decided to remove the earrings for a simpler look.

He then came and stood next to me as he opened the box to reveal a  spectacular eye dazzling necklace made with the most exquisite diamonds, and looked at me.

"Please," he muttered as he gave a sweet smile, waiting for me to try it on.

I looked at him and thought about it for a while before I smiled and drew my hair to the side.

Dylan then removed the necklace and placed it around my neck.

"It's beautiful," I said as I turned to face him, putting my hand on the necklace after admiring it on me in front of the mirror.

"It's beautiful on you," he corrected as he pulled me by the waist to face him and smiled.

"I'd kiss you-"

"But I've got lipstick on and it would ruin my makeup and we'd have to retouch and then we'd be late to the gala," I babbled laughing.

"And we don't want that do we?" He laughed as he slid his hands from my waist and then held my hands.

"No of course not," I winked as I gave an amused smile and nodded.

Well, what if we don't go to the Gala?

He kissed my hand before we headed out of my room to leave to the Gala.

When we reached, we were greeted with men opening the doors and flashing of cameras. I came down the car and walked on the red carpet with reporters monitored by guards. After getting some photos together, we entered the hall.

"Paige!" Chloé came up as she hugged me. She was wearing a tight white mermaid dress with a bow and slit at the back.

"You and Dylan look perfect together."

"So do you, where's Kendall?" I asked her.

She froze and then looked at Dylan before looking at me.

"Uh he went to get drinks. I better go check on him," she chuckled before she hurriedly left.

"Looking divine Paige."

"Mr. Sparks hi," I turned andsmiled at him, handing out my hand.

"Call me Richard," he said as he hugged me.

"Don't they look lovely?" Richard told my father.

"Indeed," my father nodded in approval as they both gave triumphant smiles.

"Paige," Mr. Sparks called as we were about to leave.

"Yes?" I walked back to him while Dylan waited for me.

"Please don't give up on him, I've never seen him like this. When he's with you it's like he's a different person."

I nodded and smiled, I was taken aback by his words. I was actually flattered that I did have an effect on Dylan and that his father approved of me. I just wished his mother was alive so that I could meet her.

"Hi Dylan," a girl chirped as she threw herself on Dylan and kissed him on the cheek. She had thick wavy hair reaching to her shoulders and a golden suntan which brought out her clear complexion shown off in a tight red dress.

Dylan then introduced us. She gave me a smile before she instantaneously averted her attention to Dylan smiling at him widely with sparkle in her eyes.

"Do you want to dance?" She asked as she held his hand.

What?

He withdrew his hand looking at me and said, "no."

"Why not?"

"I'm here with Paige," he blankly answered looking at me as he gave me a half smile.

"But she wouldn't mind, would you Paige? Just for ten minutes and then he'd be all yours," she urged.

"Of course I wouldn't," I smiled at her as Dylan gave me a surprised look.

I then looked at Dylan and fixed his bow winking at him. "It's just ten minutes."

He then gave an amused smile and whispered, "I'll be back don't miss me much."

I chatted with several people, from my friends in college to my parents' friends and their children who were my age or older. While I chatted, I found myself constantly looking at Dylan while he danced with her, with our eyes meeting several times.

"Hello," a deep voice said from behind me and I turned to find a strong and defined face with thick dark tousled hair. His eyes were a mesmerizing shade of green and he had a playful smile on and seemed to be a really nice guy.

"Would you like to dance?" He asked while I was studying his featutes. I then snapped out of it and noticed him handing out his hand. I smiled and as I gave him my hand someone held my hand halfway.

"Sorry she can't."

I turned to find Dylan standing next to me looking at the guy with superiority.

"And who are you?" The guy asked, disgust on his face.

"That's none of your concern."

The guy then held my hand and gave me the sweetest smile.

"She's dancing with me," Dylan declared giving a grin.

I just got the best idea.

I gave an amused smile and looked at Dylan tilting my head to the side.

"Don't," Dylan whispered, tightening his grip.

You know me too well.

"Please Don't," he urged.

I looked at him and thought about it for a while before I chuckled.

I then looked at the guy, pulled out my hand and said, "Sorry, next time."

Dylan gave a triumphant smile as he took my hand and pulled me to the dance floor.

He then twirled me before pulling me close and whispering in my ear,

"Mine."

This simple word sent a clinking jounce through my entire body, electrifying every vein and forming goosebumps underneath the skin on my neck he just caressed.
I have never been emotionally touched this way.

"Why did you bail on the bet?" I asked out of curiousity, removing my head which was leaning on his shoulder and looked up to him. I was glad he did; I was enjoying my time with him.

"When I found out Kendall was going with you."

"Were you scared you'd lose?" I teased, feeling both surprised and confused at the same time.

He shook his head.
"I wanted to show him you'll go with me instead."

The words took me off guard, as if I hadn't heard him right.

"That's why you asked me to come with you tonight? To prove a point to Kendall?" I asked raising my eyebrow, making sure I had heard right.

His jaw tensed ,"I- uh..It was part of it," he said with a low voice, ashamed.

The blood drained from my face. Dylan had fooled me, he used me to show Kendall that I'd ditch him for Dylan, to show him that he'd win. I went with him thinking that we could make things right and easy, that we could be normal. He marked his territory and showed Kendall and I allowed him to do it.

My eyes widened and I shook my head angrily.
I unwrapped my hands from him still shocked.

"I can't believe!" I shouted angrily in a voice low enough so that people wouldn't hear us.

He grabbed my hand and said, "Paige."

I yanked it, "don't  touch me," I said gritting my teeth and walking away quickly between the crowd making him lose sight of me.

How did I let him do this, how didn't I notice?

I stood outside and looked up at the night sky which was filled with stars and took a deep breath.

He knew that I would ditch Kendall for him and he knows that I'll always choose him.

"Paige, wait," he ran towards me. I walked towards the pavement and put out my hand to signal to call a cab.

"Please, stay," he pleaded.

Not this time.

A cab parked and I opened the door to get it but Dylan stopped me, "let me go," I shouted irritatedly.

"Thank you she doesn't need anyone to drop her, you can leave," Dylan told the cab driver still holding me and the door preventing me from entering.

"No stay," I told the cab driver as I tried to wiggle myself out of Dylan's grip.

Dylan removed a couple of bucks and gave the driver bribing him to leave.

"Stay," he hugged me tight, but I didn't hug him back.

"I can't. You just asked me to come with you just to show Kendall, how could you think of me as property? I thought you wanted to come with me."

"I did want to come with you, I would always choose you," he choked.

"But today you asked just to show Kendall that I'd ditch him for you! You used me to prove a point," I exclaimed.

"I didn't ask you just because of that, I would never use you!" He exclaimed as he cupped my face.

"Then why?" I asked as I waited for that one answer that would make me stay, that would change everything.

He looked at me and then to the left not looking at me in the eye as his jaw tensed, making a clump form at the end of my throat.

....Three words, eight letters.
Say them and I'll stay.

Three words Dylan.
Chapter 28 comes up 28 December.
