"Why are we here?" Bethany asked as they pulled up in front of Andy and Juliet's house.
"Andy invited us over for supper. Y'know, because it's your birthday."
"Oh!" They got out and walked up to the front door. Sebastian opened the door and everyone inside yelled,
"SURPRISE!" Bethany went wide eyed and then grinned.
"Did you know?" She asked Sebastian. He just smiled and nodded.
"Happy birthday, Peanut." Andy came and gave her a hug.
"Thank you, Panda." They walked into the house and she was given hugs by everyone there. Andy's band, Bethany's band, Joe and Karina, Stephanie and many more were standing around the living room, drinks in hand. Stephanie had her camera and was taking pictures.
"I have another surprise." Andy grabbed Bethany's hand and pulled her through the kitchen to the dining room, leaving Sebastian behind."
"Mom! Daddy!" She ran and gave them both hugs.
"Happy birthday, Bean." Chris said.
"Thank you. I missed you guys so much!"
"Hey! Birthday girl! Get your ass in here!" Ashley called form the living room. Bethany giggled.
"I think I'm needed."
"Go on. We'll find you later." Amy said. Bethany smiled, nodded and walked back into the living room.
"Here she is!" CC yelled. "Where's the music?"
"Sorry!" Andy yelled.
You're gonna lose that girl.
"Now it's a party." CC gave her a hug and then got pushed out of the way by Jake.
"Lemonade?" Jinxx asked, offering her a plastic cup.
"Thank you. I love this song!" People kept coming up and giving her hugs and kisses and wishing her a happy birthday.
"Benny!" Simon came and gave her a hug. "Happy birthday! You're best drummer we've ever had and I'm so glad you joined BBM."
"Thank you!"

Sebastian was watching Bethany interact with everyone. She was smiling and laughing and blushing and holy fuck he loved her so much it hurt. Seeing her so happy made him happy. Chris stepped up beside him.
"So you're the boyfriend." He said taking in Sebastian's appearance.
"I am. Sebastian." He held out his hand and Chris shook it.
"Chris Biersack." Chris looked at Bethany and smiled, "Hard to believe my little girl is twenty. That doesn't seem right. Of course Andy's almost thirty so that's even worse." He laughed and Sebastian smiled.
"Listen I-" But Chris cut him off.
"Me first." Sebastian nodded. "I know you expect the whole hurt my little girl I'll hurt you spiel, but the truth is I'm not the one you need to worry about." He nodded toward Andy and Bethany who were talking and laughing and just generally enjoying themselves. "She is, has been and always will be his Peanut. He loves her more he than does anyone else in his life. Even Juliet. Which she knows. We all know." He sighed. "Do you know about David?"
"I do." This surprised Chris. Bethany kept that part of her life private until she trusted people. It had been years before she would tell anyone about him and now. Five months into a relationship and she trusted him enough to tell him. As far as Chris knew she'd never told Luke.
"When David died it broke her. Watching a seven year old struggle with depression is awful. But because of Andy she got through it. He did his best to take David's place. He couldn't, of course, not really, but he did his best. And now, well, look at her." Sebastian watched her for a few seconds and smiled. "My point is I trust you, because Andy trusts you. Just remember if you hurt her you answer to him. And he will not be merciful if you hurt his Peanut." Sebastian nodded again.
"I want to marry her one day. Right now we're taking things slow. We're moving at her pace, but I want you to know what my intentions are."
"How long have you two been together?"
"Five months." Chris nodded.
"If you're serious about wanting to marry her than you have to be serious about commitment. You can't hurt her and expect to come back into her life."
"I know."
"Just because you know doesn't mean you'll do it." Chris said, "I sound like my mother." He chuckled and Sebastian smiled. "Make sure you know what you want and what she wants before you go popping the question. It's the most important question you'll ever ask and it's the hardest you'll ever ask so make sure you know what she'll say when you do."
"Yes, sir."
"On that note it's good to meet you, son."
"You too, sir."
"Treat my little girl right. And take care of her. You should introduce yourself to my wife. She's been dying to meet you." Sebastian smiled.
"Absolutely. Where is she?"
"Kitchen."
"Ah. Thank you." Sebastian made his way to the kitchen.

After a brief stop to say hi to Bethany, Sebastian walked into the kitchen. In the kitchen Bethany and Andy's mom was putting candles on a cake covered with succulents made of fondant.
"Hi." Sebastian said. She looked up and smiled.
"Hi. Can I help you?" Sebastian cleared his throat.
"I'm Sebastian. Bethany's boyfriend."
"Oh! Yes! Hi. I'm Amy! It's wonderful to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." She finished with the candles. "You two have been together five months? Right?" She was rummaging through drawers while she spoke.
"Yeah."
"And you're in a band, right?"
"Yes. Palaye Royale." Amy nodded.
"Right. Of course." She nodded again, then she stopped rummaging and met his gaze. "Listen, don't make her fall in love knowing you don't intend to catch her. Stop making her feel things if you don't intend to reciprocate. She'll never forget the pain you cause. And she'll never be the same after. So please, if you're not man enough to love her, don't waste her time. Understand?"
"Yes, ma'am." He said with a nod. She smiled.
"Good. Take care of her. She's dealt with enough bullshit in her life as it is. Could I ask a favor?"
"Yeah."
"Would you carry the cake so I can get some pictures?" He smiled.
"Sure." She lit the candles, grabbed the camera off the counter and snapped a picture of the cake before she led the way into the living room.

"Panda, play Come Together!" Bethany called form the opposite side of the room.
"Coming up." Andy replied. Come Together began to play. After starting the song Andy wandered over to his dad.
"You met Sebastian?" He asked.
"I have."
"He's a good guy. He'll take care of her." Andy glanced around until he found Sebastian and Bethany. Bethany was laughing, head thrown back, eyes closed, mouth open. She was happy.
"You trust him?"
"Yeah." He paused. "I have to. She does. And she's not a kid anymore. I respect her choice. If he makes her happy then I have to live with that."
"He's quite a bit older than her though, isn't he?"
"Seven years." His dad nodded.
"Well, If you say he's a good choice then he must be."
"He is." Andy confirmed. "I realized recently that I can't spend the rest of my life putting her first. I have a wife, I hope to have kids some day, but I couldn't stop looking out for her. I've since realized that I needed to know there would be someone she could go to in my place and I think he's a good choice." Their dad nodded.
"Funny to think this could be it for her, y'know. I mean, maybe not, but she's at an age where her relationships will last longer and for all we know he'll be the only guy she ever dates."
"That's true. In fact it wouldn't surprise me. Fuck. When did she get old enough to move in with the guy she's dating and have really serious relationships? It makes me feel old."
"It makes you feel old? My oldest is turning thirty next year and my youngest is twenty. I feel old." They both laughed.
"I'm glad you guys could make it. I mean, she would've had fun, but I know she would've been missing you guys."
"I'm glad we made it too. You miss a lot when you live in different states. She'd had a boyfriend for month before we even knew he existed." Andy nodded.
"I missed her growing up because I moved. Seems like just yesterday she was a little kid, wanting piggy back rides and to play in the sprinkler."
"It does. Oh, there's your mother." He turned the music off and everyone began singing as Amy and Sebastian came in with the cake.

"Have you met Sebster?" Bethany asked as she approached her dad.
"I have." Was all he said.
"So? What d'you think of him, Daddy?"
"He's interesting. Does he always dress like that?" Chris nodded at Sebastian.
"Every girl's crazy for a sharp dressed man." She replied with a grin. He smiled and rolled his eyes.
"And you mocked me." She shrugged.
"Sorry."
"Mm. That sounds very sincere." Chris smiled and threw his arm around her shoulders.
"But seriously, d'you like him?"
"I do. If Andy think he's a good guy he must be."
"He is. He's . . . he's . . . I don't even know." She sighed in contentment. "I know what I had with Luke wasn't love, but this," She smiled as she watched Sebastian laughing with their friends, "this is."
"That it is. Andy likes him." He wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"Yeah?" She looked up at her dad.
"Yeah. But don't tell him I told you. Now go see your boyfriend and your friends. Don't spend all your time with me. I had almost thirteen years with you. I'm sick of you. And I'll be spending all day tomorrow with you." He grinned and gently pushed her in the direction of Sebastian. She smiled and grabbed his hand.
"Come meet my friends."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes! Come on." She pulled him over to a group of her friends including Sebastian. "Guys this is my dad, Chris. Dad this is, well, Sebastian you know, and that's his brother Remington, that's Daniel, this is Simon the guitar player of my band and this is his sister Kris." She linked arms with Kris. "I just realized you guys share a name. Ha! Funny." Chris shook hands with all Bethany's friends and shared a few brief words with the group before excusing himself. Bethany let go of Kris and wrapped her arm around Sebastian's waist.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi."
"Can I have a kiss?" She smiled and pushed herself up onto her tiptoes to give him a kiss. She pulled away giggling as the first few notes of ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man began to play. She turned and grinned at her dad. He was doing the same ridiculous dance he used to do when he turned that song on. The dance didn't even really work with the song, but it never failed to make Bethany laugh.
"Your dad is weird." Sebastian said.
"Yes he is. And I love him for it."
They come runnin' just as fast as they can. 'Cos every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.
"I have never heard this song before in my life." Kris said.
"It's like his favorite song. And this is the dance he always does. And it's one of those things I never realized I'd miss so much." Bethany sighed, but smiled at her dad.

Andy turned the music off and Sebastian got everyone's attention.
"First off, a toast to the birthday girl. Another year older and more beautiful everyday. I love you, Bumblebee. That sounded better in my head." He said and everyone laughed. Then he raised his plastic cup of lemonade, "Happy birthday, Benny!" Bethany blushed and smiled.
"Happy birthday!" Everyone chorused.
"Thank you!" Bethany replied.
"Second, a few weeks ago I recorded a song. Not an original, just a cover, and I got it all ready and was going to post it on my Instagram and then I didn't, so it hasn't been uploaded anywhere, but I thought, since I recorded it for Bethany, that we would watch it now. If everyone's okay with that?" A few replies were yelled back and Sebastian nodded.
"Great. Andy?"
"On it. One sec." Andy, who had been on his knees messing around with a laptop, stood up. "Here we go." He turned the tv on and turned the volume up. In the video Sebastian cleared his throat and began singing.
Stars shining bright above you. Night breezes seem to whisper 'I love you'.
Bethany was smiling, almost on the verge of crying, hands over her mouth as she watched the video.
"Happy birthday, baby girl." Sebastian whispered as he wrapped his arm around her. He kissed her temple. She flushed from the neck up. "Is that really what I sound like? Holy shit that's bad. What was I thinking?" He muttered and Bethany giggled.
"This is cutest thing I've ever seen! I love it so much! Thank you."
Stars fading but I linger on dear. Still craving your kiss.
In the video Sebastian had been keeping his eyes on his guitar, but as he finished the song, whistling along just like the Mamas and Papas version, he looked up and smiled. The video ended and everyone awwed and clapped and Sebastian went pink in the face.
"That was the sweetest shit ever, man!" CC yelled. A few agreements were yelled in reply.
"Happy birthday, Benny!" Jake yelled.
"Happy birthday!" Everyone yelled again. Bethany laughed.
"Thank you all so much! This has been the best birthday ever!" Then she turned and wrapped her arms around Sebastian's waist. "Thank you." She leaned up and gave him a kiss.

It was late when the party finally ended. And the house was mess. Bethany and Sebastian stayed until the last of the guests left and then helped tidy up.
"If you guys don't have any plans I thought we'd all go out for breakfast tomorrow." Andy told Bethany while they cleaned up the kitchen.
"I'll have to check with Sebster, but I don't think we have plans."

"I like him." Amy told Juliet while they tidied up the kitchen.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. He's sweet. And very genuine. He looks at her the way Andy looks at you."
"It's weird to watch them and think back to when that was us. I mean, I know we've only technically been married three years, but we've together longer and we're not really in that blissful, perfect young love stage anymore, y'know?" Amy nodded.
"I do. Chris and I have a lot of years under our belt and we haven't been in that stage in a long time, but love doesn't change it just keeps growing. Maturing past the young love stage."
"Mature but still youthful."
"If only the same could be said about the body." The both laughed.
"What's so funny?" Andy asked as he walked in.
"Nothing." Juliet told him. He raised an eyebrow.
"Liar."
"Nothing important." Chris stepped in from the dining room with a stack of solo cups and a fistful of cutlery.
"You throw a nice party, Ange. Chaotic, but not over bearing." He said as he dropped the cutlery in the sink to be dealt with in the morning. A thump followed by loud laughter filtered in from the living room. Amy and Andy shared confused looks.
"Everything okay in there Peanut?" Andy asked. The laughter only got louder.
"I stepped on my own foot and walked into the wall!" Bethany got between bursts of laughter. Andy smiled and rolled his eyes.
"Only you, Peanut." She laughed harder. She was in tears and struggling to breathe she was laughing so hard.
"You are tired." Sebastian said.
"I know!" She tried to calm down a little. Taking deep breaths and trying not to laugh.
"And crazy."
"My head hurts. I gave myself a headache." She pouted then smiled. "I'm probably the only person in the world who can laugh so hard they give themselves a headache."
"Probably." Sebastian wrapped his arms around her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Chris and Amy were watching from the door to the kitchen.
"To be young and in love." Amy said.
"I'm perfectly content being old and in love thank you." Chris replied. She rolled her eyes. He smiled and kissed her cheek.
