"For the last time we are not having any harmonica in any of our songs." Emmett snapped. Back Before Morning were at Jake and Inna's place to start work on recording their debut album. Hal laughed and pushed his glasses up.
"I know that. I just keep bringing it up because it pisses you off."
"Well knock it off. It stopped being funny after you said it for the first time." Emmett snapped again.
"Guys! Chill out. We're here to do something. And that something is not argue with each other." Oscar said.
"No one asked you." Emmett spat. Jake looked at Bethany and raised his eyebrows. She shrugged.
"What has gotten into you lately, man?" Simon asked.
"Don't start."
"Excuse me." Jake raised his hand. Everyone looked at him. "I'm happy to do this for you, but I don't have all day so we should get to work."
"Whatever." Emmett muttered.
"Who's going first?" Jake asked.
"I will." Simon said as he put the strap of his guitar over his head.
"Perfect. Whenever you're ready." Simon stood in the booth and played through the first song. Hal, Oscar and Emmett continued to argue until Emmett got up and walked out.
"Emmett!" Oscar said. Simon stepped out of the booth.
"Fucking hell Emmett, stop doing this!" Emmett walked out and slammed the door behind him. Jake stared at the door with wide eyes.
"What's up with him recently?" Bethany asked.
"It's not for me to tell." Simon replied. The door opened and Inna walked in.
"Is he okay?" She asked, looking behind her.
"No." Simon sighed.
"I didn't think he'd leave. It was just a joke." Hal said.
"It's not your fault, Hal. He's been having a rough couple of weeks." Simon sighed again. "Thanks for letting us use your studio, Jake."
"No problem. Any friend of Benny's is a friend of mine." Simon put his guitar away.
"I'll text you guys later." Simon told his band before left.
"Can you take me home?" Hal asked Oscar.
"Yeah." The two of them packed up their stuff. "See ya, Benny."
"Bye guys." Bethany sank back into her chair and sighed. Once they were gone she said, "I don't know what's up with Emmett recently. He's hardly around and when he is he's always so pissed at everyone." She sighed again, "Whatever."
"Wanna stay for lunch? I have no idea what we're having, but I know we won't mind having stay."
"I'd love too."
"Great. I'll tell Inna." He left her alone in the studio.

Bethany had been talking herself down from a panic attack for the last hour. She'd done the simplest makeup possible because her hands were shaking too much for anything else and she'd tried to braid her hair, but gave up on that pretty quick.
     She knew Stephanie was nice, but Stephanie was also important to Sebastian and her opinion of Bethany would be important to Sebastian. Unfortunately that wasn't really very comforting.
   After smoking a clove cigarette she drove to the restaurant Stephanie had chosen for lunch. It was a cute little cafe that supposedly made the best hot sandwiches in LA. Stephanie was already there and, much to Bethany's relief, So was Monica. They were drinking coffee from brightly decorated coffee mugs and laughing so hard they were almost in tears.
"And when I asked him why," Monica was saying through her laughter, "he said he thought they were his! I was in tears trying to help him get them off!"
"That sounds like something he'd do." Stephanie agreed, wiping under her eyes, "Oh! Bethany! Come sit!" Bethany took a seat at the table and put her purse down beside her feet.
"Sorry I'm a little late."
"It's fine, honey, don't worry. Would you like coffee? My treat."
"Oh no. I'm fine thank you."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Really, I'm fine."
"Alright. How's things between you and Sebastian?" Bethany couldn't help but smile when she heard his name.
"Good. Really good. Long distance is hard, but we're making it work."
"Long distance sucks." Monica agreed, "but with the right person it's completely worth it." Bethany nodded.
"It really is. He sent me flowers the other their day. And he's such a cheeseball, but I kinda love it. Like before he left he gave me his camera and a notebook and told me to take pictures of things to show him and take notes so I remember things I want to tell him."
"Aw. That's sweet. Remmy sends me flowers too. And food."
"Well I'm glad to know I did something right with my boys."
"You did everything right. They're perfect gentlemen." Monica said.
"All three of them." Bethany added. "They're lucky to have you." Monica nodded in agreement. Stephanie smiled.
"Thank you. You're both very sweet. My boys are lucky to have you too. You're some of the sweetest girls I've ever met. Shy too. We'll have to do this again when she can join us." The talked shifted from subject to subject. Books, art, pictures, how arbitrary clothing sizes are, where they'd lived before, their families and so on. All in all it was a wonderful lunch and Bethany didn't know why she'd been so worried.

This is like ten years too late. My apologies. Hope you liked it. Seriously enjoy the fluff while it lasts.
