Sebastian was out on a run when Bethany woke up the next morning. He'd left a note beside her phone on the nightstand. She didn't know how long he'd been gone or when he'd be back and she had work in hour. So after writing a note of her own, knowing he probably wouldn't answer a text while on his run, she called an Uber and went home. To be honest it didn't look good. Her hair was in a messy ponytail, she was wearing her dress from the night before which did very little to hide the hickeys on her neck. And she was getting an Uber to take her to her house. The obvious assumption from the driver's point view was a one stand. Lucky for her he didn't say anything. At the house she thanked him and got out.
"Get lucky last night?" Andy asked when she walked in.
"Okay, A. Do you really want to know about my sex life? Because I don't want you to know about my sex life. And I don't want to know about yours. Although unfortunately I know more about it than I wish I did." Andy's eyes went wide. "I'm sure you try to be quiet, but you're not. And it's fine. Just y'know more than I wanted to know." Andy's cheeks went just a bit pink, "And B. Not that you need to know, but no. I didn't." He raised an eyebrow. "I didn't. This," She pulled the collar of dress away from her neck a bit, exposing the bruises more. "Was as far as we got. Now if you'll excuse me I need to get ready for work." She walked up the stairs and into her room. After finding clean clothes she went into the bathroom. Before getting in the shower she examined the bruises on her neck. Her phone buzzed on the counter.

"You should invite Sebastian over for dinner." Andy said the next morning at breakfast.
"Uh. . ." Bethany looked up from her Raisin Bran.
"Well you don't have to, it was just a suggestion. Put your eyes back in your head. Jeez." He rolled his eyes and took a drink of his coffee.
"No, no. I can. Sorry. That just caught me off guard."
"No. No, it's fine. Don't bother." Andy said, eyes on his phone screen.
"Don't be like Mom." He looked up at her with both eyebrows raised.
"You wanna go there?"
"No?"
"Who's the one who insists on putting the lid for the peanut butter in the cover? Dad."
"Hey." She pouted, "I don't do that anymore."
"But you used to."
"Ok, but I'm not the one turning into Mom."
"Neither am I."
"Really? No no don't bother. It's fine." She said in a bad imitation of his voice.
"Is that the best you can do?"
"Sorry my voice isn't as deep as yours. Oh, fuck." She quickly finished her cereal and drank the milk. "I'm running out of time." She said as she ran from the room.

During her lunch break she texted Sebastian.

"Then I tripped and fell up the escalator. I thought the kid behind me was gonna kill herself laughing." Bethany said, laughing.
"I remember that!" Andy said, also laughing, "I remember you had a massive bruise on your forehead for like a week." Bethany nodded.
"Yeah. As if fourth grade isn't hard enough lets throw in a bunch of bruises that my teacher is convinced are because of abuse at home." Bethany rolled her eyes, "that was whole thing for a like a week."
"Oh yeah. I remember that too." Andy grimaced.
"That week was also the week of school pictures too. I wonder if Mom still has them. Everyone else looked pretty nice in their pictures and then there was me with a big yellowing bruise in the middle of my forehead. I asked Mom to cover it with make up, but she wouldn't. She said it didn't matter. And it didn't until she got the pictures in the mail."
"Some how I managed to be gone on picture day almost every year." Sebastian said.
"Really?" Bethany asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Really." He confirmed with a nod.
"Are we ready for dessert?" Juliet asked. She received varied answers before picking up some of the plates and taking them into the kitchen. Bethany stood and grabbed the rest of the plates and followed her.

Andy was using his phone(answering a text from his manager) and Sebastian was idly tapping the table while they waited for the girls to come back. Laughter came from the kitchen and Sebastian smiled. Andy put his phone down and cleared his throat.
"When do you guys hit the road again?" He asked.
"April. The eighteenth. I think. What about you?"
"First concert is on April seventh." Sebastian nodded and kept tapping the table. More laughed filtered in from the kitchen. "What are you two up to in there?" Andy called. The laughter got louder.
"Nothing!" Bethany called back.
"Liar!" She gasped loudly.
"How dare you!" Then she laughed again. Andy rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"Weirdo."
"But I'm a cute weirdo!" Bethany said, walking in with two bowls, Juliet not far behind.
"I'm not sure I'd go that far." Andy said and she stuck her tongue out at him as she took her seat beside Sebastian.
"Yeah, well you're my brother. I wouldn't expect you to."
"I think you're cute." Sebastian said putting his arm on the back of her chair.
"Well duh." Bethany said and giggled.
"So humble." He said and leaned over to kiss the side of her head.
After dessert they sat and talked for awhile. Music was the main focus of the conversation. But like all good things it had to come to an end.
"Remember when that was us?" Juliet asked, not failing to notice Sebastian and Bethany in front of the door. All smiles and giggles and chaste kisses. Young love. Andy hummed in response. Juliet walked over to where Andy was standing in front of the sink and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Funny how relationships change and grow as you do."
"But the feeling stays the same." Andy said. She smiled, leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek before letting go and rummaging through cupboards for dishes to put the leftovers in.

Sebastian left with plans to see Bethany the next day. She watched him go before turning and ascending the stairs, humming a Doors song as she went. In general Andy didn't like guys who showed any interest in his sister, but Sebastian seemed genuine. More genuine than Luke had been and he'd only met Luke twice during the two years he and Bethany dated. Andy hadn't seen Bethany this happy in a long time. Whether that was all because of Sebastian or not Andy didn't know. But he did know that Bethany loved Sebastian. She may not have realized it, but she did. Sebastian didn't realize it either. He didn't know just how he much meant to Bethany. Because when Bethany loved she did so with everything in her. She put all she had into the relationship. She gave and gave and never expected anything back. And that was why Andy was so hesitant to trust Sebastian.

I'm not dead!

I don't if any of have been reading the messages on my message board but I was on a trip so that's why there was such a huge gap between updates. But I am back so updated should be more frequent. I hope. Anywho. Enjoy!
