Blue Gem| The Predator. Part 13

* * * *

Sky only sat in what was a waiting room to her while the Predator Elders were elsewhere. She looked around the room, looking at the symbols upon the wall.

"Why exactly are we waiting?" The relic asked her.

"That's what you're asking? I'm wondering why we're on this ship in the first place. I mean, it's pretty cool don't get me wrong, but I don't get it. I guess I'll draw while we wait." She reached into her bag, pulling out her sketch notebook and the bloody pencil.

The human looked at the red stained pencil, remembering what she had done with it prior. Sky threw the pencil back into the bag, reaching in and grabbing another pencil. Only this one was a mechanical pencil. Sky sighed if relief and tapped the eraser end of the pencil to her chin, humming to herself.

"What should I draw..." She asked aloud.

"Uhh...I don't know." The relic replied.

She then shrugged and began to draw something while she waited.

The human had been drawing for at least an hour before the door opened once again, revealing the Lead Elder. She looked up from what she was doing and put her sketching book away into her bag, standing up to look at the elder Predator. The alien halted in front of her, in his free hand he held a different bio mask.

The mask was significantly smaller, was tinted teal, and a custom shape differing from any of the other masks seen. The Elder Predator held the small mask out to the human, which she looked at with much curiosity.

The Lead Elder held out this much smaller bio mask to me, and I didn't know what he was doing. I just looked at him with a raised eyebrow, mildly confused. He then grunts and looks in between me and the mask, and I finally got the hint.

"Wait, is that mine??" I asked, pointing to the mask then myself.

The Predator nodded. Okay he understands English too, or he understood the gestures. I cautiously took the bio mask from the Elder and looked over it, touching the smooth metal. I glance back at the Predator.

"Why are you giving me this?" I ask.

"Fair fight, as well as rescuing one of our own." I heard a voice come from him.

I smiled as I can understand him now, "Thank you. Now can I ask where my friend Fugi is?"

The Lead Elder looked really confused.

"Whom do you speak of?" He asked.

"Oh right, that's what I call him. The Yautja I came into this vessel with, where is he?" I ask.

The Predator then grunted, looking rather displeased. Wait, Fugi is a fugitive to his planet. My eyes widen at the realization.

"Oh my god, where is he?! Is he okay?!" I said in a panicked state.

The Elder was surprised by my reaction, "May I ask why you care dearly for the fugitive?"

"Because it's just what I do! I don't know, but please tell me he's okay!" I continued, tears in my eyes.

The Elder placed his hand on my shoulder.

"He is unharmed, worry not. But he has been sentenced to death for his crimes." The Predator said.

My eyes widen, "Please please PLEASE let me see him!"

The Elder sighed defeatedly then gestured me to follow, I put the bio mask into my bag and went after him. Him and I walk back down the long corridor towards the room where the other elders and Fugi went, my heart beating rapidly. I don't want my friend to die! I need to convince them not to do that! Once we arrived at the door, we entered the room and saw Fugi with his back to us.

"Fugi!" I said as I ran up to him.

My Predator friend turned around and was greeted with a tight hug from me, he slowly hugged me back with soft clicking noises. I look up at him and pulled back, tears running down my face but I wiped them away.

"Sorry Fugi, I can't stay quiet for this." I said, my voice saddened.

"I'm assuming you heard." He whispered.

"I did...but now I'm gonna fix it." I let go of him.

The Lead Elder joined the others and stood before us, I stepped away from my predator and approached the elders.

"I mean you all no disrespect, but this is stupid! Fugi has helped me so much and if you were to kill him, you would be taking away a girls support." I said boldly.

The Elders look at one another, grunting and clicking then return their gaze to me.

"Explain." The Elder to the left of the Leader said.

"Allow me to give you a bit of info on me. I'm an Empath, someone who has a paranormal ability to feel changes in another person. Or in my case, I feel when tragic events occur in the world. It also means I'm highly empathic and my emotions are 10 times more intense than the average human. People like me have trouble finding people who understand them, or in my case, aliens who understand me." I said while gesturing to Fugi.

"So you say that you are in tune with the universe, like many other oomans, yet you cannot find anyone to help you?" Another elder asks.

"In a way, yes. To be fair, I've only discovered my ability recently. If I had known sooner, I would have reached out to anyone who could help. Right now, the fugitive who I call Fugi has been the one to help. I also have very terrible anxiety, which he has helped keep me calm whenever I started going into a pre-panic attack." I explained.

Fugi just stood there, watching me speak. The Elders did the same as they listened intensively, very curious as I had basically admitted to being psychic.

"Describe this 'help' he has done for you, if you'd please." The shortest elder said.

"I'd be happy too. He's been there to talk, calm, and make me feel like everything was okay no matter how panicked I was. Humans do have service animals for emotional support, but unfortunately I couldn't afford such an animal. But I do have a great extra terrestrial friend who understands me, and I feel safe around him. Sure, he may have made mistakes. But who HASN'T? Everyone makes mistakes, including me and all of you." I point to the elders.

The Elders looked at one another, some of them making that 'Got a point's body language.

"And you would be making a great big mistake if you were to kill the Yautja who has been by my side, even if it was only for a short time. As I said before, I mean no disrespect to any of you as you've earned your positions," I reached into my bag and pulled out my bio mask.

"And if Fugi is to die, I will not need this. But I greatly appreciate the honorable gesture." I hand the mask back to the Lead Elder.

He took it from my carefully, looking at the mask I had just willingly given up. He then looked at the other elders, all of them wide eyed and clicking profusely. I look back at Fugi, he was wide eyed as well. The Elders then began discussing amongst themselves as Fugi kneeled down to look me in the eye.

"You do know an action like that could get you killed as well, right?" He asks.

"I couldn't stay quiet, and I truly meant what I said. You get me, and you've helped me a great deal. Consider us even." I said and turned back to the elders.

They had finished their discussion and had turned their attention back to us.

"Ooman, step forth." The leader said.

I took a step forward and stopped in front of them. The Lead Elder looked me right in the eye, his stare intense.

"You are young and naive, but you are quite brave for trusting a Yautja fugitive, refusing to be the Assassins Loute'kale, as well as admitting your ability to us. You may be an ooman, but you have the honorable heart of a Yautja. You have earned our respect." He hands the mask back to me.

I take the mask from him with a wide smile. The Lead Elder reaches for something upon this belt, he removed what looked to be a facehugger leg. Wait, what?

"Does this mean Fugi is free?" I ask, ignoring the facehugger leg.

"Yes. But he will be sentenced to life in exile, serving as your support." He said.

Okay I think both of us can live with that.

"What is your name, ooman?" The Elder asks.

"Well, my nickname is Sky." I say.

"No, your birth name." He clarifies.

"Can I whisper it to you?" I ask.

The Lead Elder nods and kneels down, leaning his head to me where I think his ear is. I whispered my name into his dreads, or ear I don't know, he nods and looks at me. He dipped his index finger into the facehugger leg, his claw now coated with its acid blood. He then held his claw rather close to my face.

"I hereby henceforth mark you as the honorary Yautja, S'th vak." He announced.

Cool! I'm an honorary Predator! Hold up wait, is he marking me with ACID BLOOD?! I was too late to the realization when I felt a searing pain in my left cheek, biting my tongue to hold back a scream. It felt like a flamethrower was being applied to my face, IT HURTS!!! The Elder made a few more marks upon my cheek, then removed his claw. My cheek felt like it was on fire, even AFTER he finished.

"Ow..." I winced.

Fugi came up to me, "Now you know what being marked with acidic blood feels like."

I glared at him and put the mask back in my bag. Then I noticed the blue gem in the relic began to pulse, a green portal opened a few feet from Fugi and me. Everyone in the room looked at it with surprise, myself included. I guess that's the portal to the next world, and the next gem.

"I guess this is where we leave." I say.

"We bid you good travellers, young ooman." The Lead Elder said.

"Thank you, you ready to go Fugi?" I ask.

He nods and we both run to the portal, me jumping through first.
