Chapter 5 - Misha 🌙

Sitting in the car with the man that I had spent many hours with in the last few days was actually soothing. I don't know what it is about Michael but he tends to make me feel astonishingly relaxed. I never have to put up a façade. I can just be myself around him. I noticed that he also lets me get away with my sharp and sassy remarks.

We met the two doctors and midwife in town. We visited the city hall of the town and stopped by several heavily traffic businesses that pack members like to hang out in. Most of them were surprised to see Alpha Michael but after some conversations, I can see them becoming more comfortable around him. He was building trust with his pack members.

He was in the middle of speaking with a few important pack warriors that guards the entrance highway that leads to the town when my stomach grumbled. I covered my stomach horrified at my shameless hunger. Michael stopped talking and faced me.

"Are you hungry?" He asked.

"No." I lied smoothly. My stomach had the guts to growl again.

Curse you hunger.

My cheeks reddened with embarrassment. The pack warriors chuckled and a few women listening nearby giggled upon hearing it again. Oh, how I could just dig up a hole and crawl into it with humiliation right about now.

Michael turned away but not before I caught a hint of a smile appear on his face. He shook his head and began walking back towards his car.

"Wait!" I began running to catch up to his long strides. He got into the car before I did and by the time I got in I was breathing hard.

"Where are we going next?" I asked.

He didn't answer me but put the car in reverse before driving down the road. I watched the pack members lived their life almost like humans. If any humans walked into this werewolf town, nobody will know that it was infested with werewolves. Only I knew this because I lived here.

Ten minutes later, we arrived in front of a diner. I looked at him curiously. He put the car in park and took the key of the ignition before stepping out. Was he really stopping for lunch? My stomach grumbled again in happiness.

I hurried on after him into the diner. We were quickly seated as soon as they realized who he was. The waiter came out with a menu. He handed one to Michael and then one to me. Looking through the menu list I couldn't pick what I wanted to eat. Everything sounds good at the moment. I knew I only carried a few dollars on me so I needed to pick something that will keep me full.

Michael didn't take long in deciding what he wanted to eat. He ordered a double cheeseburger with fries. Unable to figure out what I wanted and already starving to the point where I could eat anything, I handed the menu back to the waiter.

"I'll have what he has." I told him.

The waiter nodded and headed behind the counter. I looked out the window to keep myself distracted and from staring at Michael. I could feel his gaze burning into my skull. When I couldn't take it any longer, I turned to look at him.

Those light hazel eyes seemed to swarm with dark and light green but mostly light green. It was mixed with a cappuccino color sparkle. I also have to be terribly honest, men with a stubbly beard is so damn hot. I can see that he hasn't shaved for at least two to three weeks. I could only imagine how it felt running on my skin.

Holy crap! I'm walking down a wickedly delicious lane. One that involve a seemingly demanding and bulky man taking charge and my legs wrapped around his waist. My hands roaming his hard body freely. I straightened up and cleared my throat. I really needed to stop thinking so dirty. He was my boss and supposedly Alpha.

My thoughts got pulled in a different direction when I felt eyes staring at me. I looked around the diner casually to see many pack members openly staring at us. Many of them leaned their heads together and whispered.

Was something on my face?

Why were they looking at us strangely?

Michael must have noticed how confused I looked because he also looked around the diner to see what caught my attention. Everyone's gaze dropped back to their plate of food. The whispering died down immediately. A scowl appeared on his face and he continued to glower at the pack members.

Finally, the food arrived and I couldn't be happier. My stomach grumbled at the smell of freshly fried French fries. Eager to begin my plate of food and totally forgetting about the eyes that were watching us. I grabbed the ketchup bottle and squirted some ketchup onto my plate before dipping the French fries in. I popped it into my mouth and the crunchiness and hotness of the fries blending with the cool ketchup was heaven.

Michael returned his gaze back to the table and started eating along with me. I picked up another fry and dipped it into the ketchup again.

"I love food." I said embarrassingly through a mouth filled with food.

He smirked while eating his burger, "I use to come here all the time when I was a pup. This place is the hangout of the town. People like the environment and the awesome food."

"Their fries are amazing." I complimented.

He nodded, "That I have to agree."

My eyes widened with interest. I leaned over the table slightly before speaking, "Tell me what is your favorite food."

He shrugged, "I'm not a picky eater."

Frowning my displeasure at this vague answer. I decided to answer my own question.

"I like pumpkin pie, cold with just a swirl of whip cream." I offered him.

"Pumpkin pie is good." He replied casually while eating.

Curling my lips, slightly annoyed at his closed ended answers. I continued to pester him with table talk. He didn't seem to mind or be paranoid which I am surprise of. I noticed the behavior he has around everyone. He seemed more closed and a lot more commanding. He wasn't really like that with me. It's complicated. Over the past few days, I've learned that he shouts his orders and demands them to be followed right away. He has fallen into his roll quite smoothly. I know that he has taken over the finances and pack matters. When he was around people, his face was always composed and almost always expressionless.

Pack members seem to fear him but also look up to him as their leader. However, it I saw more loyalty in his pack members than fear. They talked to him respectfully and Michael was able to offer some consoling advices to many people we had met today.

After I finished my plate of food, I couldn't help but sigh with happiness, "That was amazing."

The corner of his lip lifted as he sipped on his drink. I leaned forward and propped my chin on my palm.

"You know what I also like besides pumpkin pie?"

"What?" He asked, not annoyed at my persistent table talk.

"I am sucker for chocolate but not just any kind of chocolate. I love dark chocolate. You want to make me happy or forgive you-make sure you add a bowl of any kind dark chocolate candy you can get your hands on." I giggled.

He smiled but nodded his head before paying the waiter. He stood up and I followed him out the door. When we got inside the vehicle, I turned to ask him where to next.

"We are going to go shopping." He answered me.

"Shopping?" Clearly confused at his answer.

"Yes, because someone was clumsy enough to destroy half of my clothes that I brought home with me. I need some new clothes." He snapped.

I gave him a rueful smile, "Sorry. Of course, you're right. Let's go shopping then."

I adjusted comfortably in my seat as he put the car into gear and drove off down the road. We stopped a few men clothing stores. Michael bought several jeans and t-shirts. I have never bought clothes for men before but when I saw a dark blue Henley that will match well underneath the leather jacket I put away in his jacket. I picked it out and bought it for him while he was shopping in a different area.

Our final stop, was at a men undergarments shop. When we stopped in front of the small brick shop with an electric OPEN sign on the large glass window, he parked his car on the side of the street. Michael turned off the ignition and was about to step out of the car when he saw that I wasn't making a move to get out myself.

"What are you waiting for?" His eyebrow arch in question.

"Oh, well you know, I think this store is best suited if you went in alone." I said casually.

His eyes scrutinized me a full minute before he spoke, "I didn't ask you if you wanted to stay or go."

"But-"

"You're coming." He interrupted, leaving no room for rebuttals.

I glared at him as he shut the door and walked around the head of the car. When he stood on the sidewalk, I finally stepped out and followed him.

There was no need to feel awkward in a men's undergarment shop. It's perfectly normal. I followed closely behind him. The shop didn't look as bad. The undergarments was tidy and nicely folded on islands. Pajama sets hung on the walls nicely. I looked at a few boxers and briefs before walking upon an island with men's thongs. My eyeballs nearly fell out of their sockets. I heard Michael laughing a few islands over at my reaction. I picked up a lime green men thong and threw it at him. He stepped out of the way smoothly before glaring at me.

The associates were beyond stunned at my behavior towards Michael who was their Alpha. One lanky, well dressed men went running towards the fallen thong and picked it up before walking back to my island.

Michael walked up to me with some boxers in his hand, "Stop playing with the thongs, Laurel. If I knew you enjoyed it so much we would have stopped at the women's undergarments to get you some."

I sputtered foolishly at his comment. Warmth was crawling on my face so fast I could barely conceal it. I was horrified that everyone heard our conversation. It was almost intimate like Michael had already seen me naked and I know he hasn't.

"Just pay and let's get out of here." I grumbled.

When we got into the car he spoke up again, "My favorite dessert is lemon bars."

My frown turned upward instantly.

"I also like pizza and enchiladas." He continued, keeping his eyes on the road.

I couldn't be happier. He was opening up to me. I guess I could forgive him for teasing me in the shop.
