Chapter 17 - Wedding
December 12, 2013
In December, Calum and I were finishing the last touches to our wedding. Yes, Calum proposed! He surprised me by coming home earlier than he told me he was coming home from the tour. He rang the doorbell, and once I got to the door and opened it, he pulled out the box, got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I was shocked that he was home, shocked that he had proposed, shocked at how beautiful the ring was.. Everything shocked me. That was 5 months ago. Today was our wedding.
I was standing in the church looking in the mirror. I couldn't believe this day came so fast. It feels like just yesterday Calum asked me out, then his family took me in. It feels like just yesterday we were leaving for tour. It doesn't seem like us being at he hospital was about ten months ago. It doesn't seem like us bringing Mireyah home from the hospital was six months ago. It feels like everything just happened yesterday.
I was standing in front of the mirror, and Hannah was standing beside me with my mum on my other side.
"You look beautiful, Katie," Hannah smiled, "I hope I look as beautiful as you do, whenever I get married."
"Thank you Hannah," she looked at my dress again then smiled once more. Mum put my veil over my face, and said, "Sweetie, it's about time to start."
"Okay. I'm ready," I smiled confidently. We walked up to the doors, ready to go out. Calum hadn't seen me in my dress yet; he hadn't even seen my dress. I haven't seen him in his tuxedo either.
Mali was my maid of honor. I felt bad for not choosing Hannah, but she was fine with being one of my bridesmaids. She didn't want to have to give a speech anyways. Luke was Calum's best man. The other boys were his groom's men. Mireyah was the flower girl. My mum carried her down the aisle since she can't walk yet and Mireyah just threw the petals.
I was standing beside my dad, linked arms with him. He looked at me and said, "Katie, you look astonishing. I can't believe I just met you less than a year ago, and I'm already giving you away.."
"It's okay, Dad. You will still be able to see me, just after my honeymoon. You'll get to keep Mireyah, though."
"Yeah. I'm excited for that," he smiled.
"Okay. It's our turn."
We began walking down the aisle with linked arms. I looked at Calum, and his mouth had dropped wide open. He covered his mouth with his one hand and started crying. He wiped his tears. He then smiled at me as I finished walking down the aisle. My dad handed me off to Calum, and Calum whispered to me, "You look beautiful."
"And you look very handsome," I whispered back, then the ceremony started.
------
"I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may now kiss the bride," the minister announced.
Calum pulled my veil over my head, then grabbed my chin, lifted my head up, and kissed me. We were officially husband and wife. We held hands while walking back down the aisle, and I had to hold my dress up with my other hand. It was great. I couldn't believe we were husband and wife..
------
The reception ended, and Calum and I got into our limo and began driving off to the airport after saying goodbye to everyone. Calum looked at me while in the back of the limo and said, "This is going to be a great honeymoon," and kissed me. We were going to have lots of fun in Paris.
