"I see there has been a little quarrel here in our class." Mr. Kim started class with these words. Today was rainy and windy, making the whole class feel droopy and tired. People were leaned against their chairs with frowns on their faces and the professor was trying his best to not just sit down and let them sleep for thirty minutes instead. "We aren't going to work on the projects yet. Today I want to teach you about the importance of costumes, hair, makeup, set design, lighting, and even camerawork. Because here in theatre, we do have someone keeping track of everything with a camera. Easier than using a journal."
"I also want to talk about assistant directors. Theatre is not all about the drama or acting, singing, dancing. We are all one big group and we will work together to understand every single detail that goes into a production."
Yoongi was slightly interested now.
If he's ever honest with himself, he finds more interest in the musical part of theatre, not the acting or dancing. He had only been in a few musicals before. In high school he was forced to do regular plays instead, because their school didn't have enough money for the right equipment for musicals. But Yoongi had always loved to learn things. Especially if it's something that has nothing to do with his own personal likes or interests. Just the fact that some things can be so interesting to others to draws him in.
When he first stepped foot on stage to act, it was all a joke. His friend Seokjin had loved acting and always made the most exaggerated facial expressions. And Yoongi needed an extra class to take in high school, so Seokjin talked him into joining theatre with him. At first it was iffy. The whole class knew each other— all except for Yoongi. He was the odd one out of the group. But then the teacher forced him to play an improv game and then he was gone.
It was actually nice. Not the acting it out part. The laughter and praise it brought from the whole entire class. People saying "You did so well!" and "Oh my God, you can really act, Min Yoongi." made Yoongi feel good.
So that's why he joined theatre for good. Because Yoongi absolutely loves praise.
"First, I'll start with the true importance of all of these roles." Mr. Kim continued again. As the class went on, Yoongi took more interest in learning about set design. He also was curious as to how musicals turn into musicals. He guesses that a script to a play of some sort is given to a song writer, who does some sort of magic and turns the play into a musical.
He's not sure.
But he will learn.
At the end of class, he was surprised to suddenly see Kim Taehyung walking right towards him. He held himself together, feeling eyes on him as the taller approached him. Yoongi knew that his friends were probably watching in awe, most likely going to mention it later. Something like oh my God, you actually stood next to him without ripping each other's throats out.
"Yoongi."
He looked up at Taehyung. His outfit made him look like he was more out of art class instead of theatre. The same thick black glasses were back on his face, looking a little too big for his face. Yoongi stood, waiting for what Taehyung was going to say instead of saying anything back in fear of saying something he shouldn't. Taehyung sighed at him.
"You never replied about the script I sent you." Taehyung continued. "I need you to participate, please. We need this script as soon as possible." He crossed his arms. His eyes were filled with worry and they were so dark and boring into Yoongi's own eyes so sternly that it made Yoongi feel uneasy.
"What script?" He tried to hide the annoyance in his voice. Taehyung's lips formed an aggravated pout as he pulled out his phone and turned it on to show Yoongi.
"I sent the link." He stated. His phone screen did show a link that was sent to Yoongi, but Yoongi never remembered seeing it. "Go and open it. I have to go. I have another class." And with that, Taehyung turned off his phone and slipped it in his pocket. "Let me know if the script is okay or if I need to change some stuff." He turned around and walked off.
Yoongi watched, feeling odd. He had never really had a conversation with Taehyung like that at all, even if it did only last a few seconds. Usually they're picking and pulling each other apart. But this was just a normal person-to-person conversation without any rudeness. And it just felt weird to Yoongi. He still doesn't like Taehyung. He's too whiny and too controlling. Wants everything his way.
Even now, as they're doing this project, Yoongi feels completely out of control.
"Fucking joke."
