house of the rising son (and daughters), pt two

Titania didn't really consider herself a party person, per say.

When the succubi urges demanded her attention, sure, she may be convinced.

Otherwise? She'd much rather be home with her bourbon and blood combo in a bath.

She was a woman of simple taste, after all.

For the most part, anyway. She supposed she inherited her mother's proclivity for sarcasm and the dramatic.

The lawyer glanced at her phone and rolled her eyes, not exactly wanting to attend but the thought of Camille alone kept her from declining.

And then the device vibrated with a text from a number she didn't recognize, immediately catching her interest.

"Hi...I don't know how to start these, I'm so sorry. I did want to let you know that I did manage to find the little artist a sitter, so I can make the party. If the offer still stands, that is."

Titania snorted back a laugh and shook her head, deciding to get her suit on before answering.

She moved to the slacks and blazer carefully laid out over her bed that were accompanied by a heavily beaded corset.

Habits really did die hard...and she did love a good suit.

The corset was a battle in its own right, but she eventually got it situated in a way she fancied and the rest came easy.

"Of course it does, darling. Tell the little Picasso she'll be missed."

Titania shuffled around for her favorite heels, a red bottom poking up from a suitcase finally ending her slightly perturbed searching.

It was always the shoes that seemed to want to make things difficult.

She felt more like herself when they were on, another habit she supposed.

"Would it be possible to meet you there? The sitter just picked up Fallon and I need to figure out how to get this dress on."

"I'll keep an eye out for you, take your time sweetheart."

With last look in the mirror and a straightening of her jacket, she gathered her things and headed out the door, the curls slipping out of the bun she'd twisted her hair into bouncing around her face.

The lawyer decided to walk, taking the time to enjoy the time to herself before descending into chaos.

She prayed she could keep her eye twitch in check until she left, she had a feeling it was going to be annoyingly tested this evening.

Music and flashing lights drew her to someplace rather familiar, a compound the male members of her family decided was their home.

She had no interest, but she was glad it kept them otherwise occupied for a while.

The entire courtyard was flooded with purple light as she stepped in,

Acrobrats and confetti littered the air and the entirety of the room, casting shadows over the dancing crowd. The costumes, she had to admit, appealed to part of her that enjoyed the drama of court in days past.

"Well, this certainly is a fitting backdrop for tonight's events, I must say."

The eye twitch overtook her before she could even think to stop it, the voice echoing from behind her grating instantly at her nerves.

"Did the rabid toddler have to make an appearance? He acts far too childlike to be at a party like this." Titania quirked a brow as she turned around to face Klaus arm in arm with Rebekah.

"Ah, Titania, the lost little Mikaelson who hates her family." He greeted with a smug little smile and a tilt of his head

"I am not a Mikaelson, nor your family, you deranged mewling quim." She reached to the side to grab a glass of champagne off of a tray passing by, expressionless as she wasted the time to regard him.

"Alright, alright, let's be nice now." Rebekah cleared her throat against a laugh, the corners of her lips trembling.

"He deserves no niceties." Her sharp retort was followed by a sip from the glass in her hand, turquoise eyes shifting to the entrance.

Cami slowly stepped into the courtyard, green eyes scanning over the room and taking in everything that was occuring. Her white, beaded dress glowed light blue under the lights, the wings adorning her back glittering.

Now this made it all worth it.

"What is she doing here?" The lawyer ignored Klaus's grumbled and waved him off as she crossed back over the cobbled ground.

"Fancy seeing you hear." Titania offered her arm with a crooked smirk.

She laughed and shook her head, "this party is ridiculous, but I think I went a little splashy with this dress."

"Oh no, not at all sweetheart. You look completely divine." Her free hand shifted to fall over the one curled over her elbow as she led them forward.

Rebekah gestured them over with a grin, "hello darling! Oh you look precious."

"Good to see you again," the bartender nodded, curiously looking to Klaus, "is he the on again/off again?"

Simultaneous gags erupted from aunt and niece, leaving Klaus to scowl, "I'm the brother, actually. And my sister and niece are quite right, you do look stunning."

"She is not for the men, keep to yourself. Would you like to dance?" Titania turned her attention back to Cami.

"You two go have fun, we need booze." The original nodded, tilting her head for Klaus to follow her.

"I'd ah...I'd like that." Cami agreed with a squeeze to her elbow.

She chuckled and slipped her hands down to intertwine their fingers and draw her to the dancefloor, "if I ever say no to you, you tell me that I'm wrong, immediately."

Her next round of laughter somehow sent warmth flooding over her, the concept almost completely foreign and slight off-putting.

She hadn't felt that since she would sneak off with a lady of her mother's court she fancied.

"Mmm...that may be too much power to give." The blonde carefully placed her hands on her shoulder, stepping closer as arms wrapped around her waist.

"You seem sensible," Titania shifted to trail her fingers over her arm and slip them through hers, palms connecting, "I trust you with it."

Cami opened and closed her mouth as the song changed, a slower, low melody surrounding them, "you're good, I'll give you that."

She pulled back to spin her around, relishing in the little gasp it elicited that melted into another round of delicious laughter.

"I do have some dance background, if that is what you mean." Her tease was immediate as her hand returned to her shoulder.

"You could have warned me about that, you know. I have two left feet." The bartender scowled in mock annoyance.

"Oh trust me, I loathe it. My mother loved dancing and she tried so hard to share her passion for it...but I think you're doing quite well darling." Titania splayed her fingers over her side,

"Ahhhh, I see, I see. So about earlier, I just have this weirdest sense of deja vu. I know I've seen you before, you said you'd been here on a case but..." Cami began to pose a question, but the sounds of barely hush fighting caught both of their attentions.

She saw Klaus watching two men argue, something almost akin to satisfaction overtaking his face. She should have known the idiot was up to something.

"That's um...who I was talking about earlier. Marcel. I think I may have been right with my gut feeling earlier." She swallowed, green eyes falling with her expression.

Her breath hitched as fingers curled under her chin and lifted it, "it may be a bad moment for him, but if you are uncomfortable? I am more than happy to walk you home."

"I would appreciate that, actually." Cami answered softly, gaze falling back on her.

"Of course, let me say goodbye to my aunt and I will meet you at the entry." The demon gently squeezed her side before letting her go.

"Absolutely, you should. Thank you." She offered a smile, flushing as fingers trailed over the small of her back while they parted ways for a moment.

Titania found Rebekah at the bar, a forlorn look overtaking her face.

"You two compliment each other." The vampire raised a brow, trying to mask whatever she was feeling.

"I'm going to walk her home, you are more than welcome to come." She leaned against the bar and kept an eye on Cami, who had just reached their meeting spot.

"I have to meet with Sophie for a locator spell to find Elijah. If I were you, I would steer clear of the cauldron." Rebekah placed a hand on her shoulder and grinned softly.

"...what the hell are you two scheming up now?" Titania huffed, jaw clenching in sheer exasperation.

"We think that little witch has Elijah, but I can't remember where, I told you this? So we're going to make Sophie do a locator spell while Klaus keeps Marcel and his merry men distracted." She lowered her tone with a shrug of her shoulders.

"...right. Whatever gets us away from him faster, I have someone to walk home. Please...be careful." Her hand raised to pat the one on her person.

"I'll keep you updated. I expect you to spill later." Rebekah winked as she rolled her shoulders and ambled away from the bar.

Titania could only shake her head, reminding herself that the toddler needed to be placated.

And truly, she had a better way to spend her evening.

Pretty green eyes were always a more desirable option.
