Noah
On the way home, I stopped by dad's store. The vibrant white of the walls was nearly blinding, and the smell of cleaner filled the air. Dad stood behind the counter, a smile on his face as he leaned against the wood.
"Hi, welcome to Golden Boots," he joked.
I laughed. "Very funny, Dad. Do you need any help today?"
He shook his head, smiling. "Not today, Noah. You go home and do your homework."
"You sure?"
He nodded. I couldn't help but remember how alike we were. I had inherited his Asian complexion, and everyone told us we smiled the same. We had the same dark hair and eyes. We could both be stubborn at times, too. He was so stubborn that he didn't want to make me help him.
"Hey, where's your friend today?" He asked.
I glanced around at the boots on display. "Which one? Drake? Anna?"
"You know which one."
I shoved my hands in my pockets. "Heaven has been a bit- distant."
"She's probably wondering why you haven't asked her out," Dad laughed.
I shook my head, waved goodbye, and exited the shop. Maybe Dad was partly right; maybe I should've asked what was wrong. She'd been distant and a bit sad since her friend left her. It didn't help that we got in a fight; a stupid one at that.
Heaven sat with her hands resting on her lap, surveying the hallway. I took a seat next to her, glancing at the sketchbook she had resting on her lap. I was surprised to see she had draw me; and a very generous version. I looked good, and happy, and smiling. It looked like you could look into my soul through my eyes.
"I think my eyebrows are a bit thicker than that," I joked.
She slammed the book shut. "My drawings are never good enough for anyone."
"No, I was just-"
She sighed, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'm just upset."
"You shouldn't let people get you down," I said.
She abruptly stood. "I know, but I can't help it."
"Wait, I-"
She stormed off, blonde hair swinging behind her.
