Chapter 11
Kim and I walked down the sidewalk as she sighed. She took a stretch before she spoke. "It's good to shop again. Been too busy since we moved from up north" she said, as I sighed. "Yeah, and we'll be extremely busy when we start working tomorrow," I said, as I sighed. We continued to walk as she turned to me. "Hey bestie, wanna go get lunch before we continue?" she said, as she looked behind her. I looked at her as I studied a coffee shop, with a little sitting area around it. I nodded as I held my stomach, while it growled. "Lunch would be nice," I said, as she smiled. She grabbed my arm as she pulled me to the shop and up to the counter. We studied the menu as we thought about what we wanted. I sighed as Kim looked at me. "What? Don't see anything you want?" she asked as I sighed. I nodded as I studied it more. "Yeah, it's not my type of food. Nothing that I'm interested in" I said, as she sighed. She looked back at the menu that hung above the counter. "Do you want to try somewhere else? Find a food truck somewhere?" she asked as I sighed. "If you want to, we can. I don't care where we eat. Even if it's from a food truck somewhere" I said, as Kim turned to me. "So, where would you want to eat?" she asked as I looked at her. "I dunno. Anywhere I guess" I said, as she sighed. Kim turned as she spoke. "Let's go check out the food truck outside. It might have mac and cheese" she said as looked at her. "Alright, let's go," I said as we started to walk out of the shop. I looked around the shop in thought. I studied the building we exited, seeing that it was too busy to be a place to write. "Come on bestie," Kim said, as I turned to her. We exited the building as we continued to walk down the street.
We saw a nearby food truck with a small line in front of it. Kim and I grabbed the next spot in line, as we looked at the sign. "Oh, they have mac and cheese bites" Kim pointed out. I smiled as I nodded. "That'll be great. It's small enough to walk with if I have to" I said, as we inched up in line. I looked over at Kim as she smiled. She wrapped her arms around me as she smiled even more. "Your the best bestie ever," she said, as I looked down in shock. I cracked a smile as I patted her head. "Right back at ya," I said, as she let go and we inched up in line. I took a huff as I looked up to the sky. "This place is so different than up north. The sun also seems brighter" I said, with a sigh. We inched up in silence as Kim spoke. "Do you miss up north?" she asked as I sighed. "Yeah. If you think of it, all my family is up there. I kinda feel like I left them behind, even my brothers" I said, as Kim sighed. She turned to the line as she spoke. "You know, the boys seemed really happy when you accepted the songwriter position," she said, as I looked at her. "You talking about the I7 boys or my brothers?" I asked as Kim looked at me. "Idolish7. I studied the way they reacted when they met you. Then I focused on the excitement they had when they hired you. It seemed like they enjoyed your song" she said, as I sighed. "Yeah, brought them into a big burst of laughter. But I'll get to correcting the song" I said, as Kim sighed. "I bet they'll like the finished product a lot more," she said, as we stepped up to the stand. We placed our order and paid for our food. I grabbed napkins as our food came out.
"Let's sit over here," Kim said, as she started to walk towards a fountain with a bench in front of it. I nodded as I followed her over to the bench and sat down next to her. I picked up my fork as I started to eat. My mind kept going to my family up north, which made me eat slower. "I wonder how my brothers are taking me out of the house," I said, as Kim turned to me. "They're probably happy. Your living your dream, something you always wanted to do all your life" she said, as I looked at her. "But think about it. I'm the first one out of the house. It was also a quick decision. I feel like I just left them behind" I said, as I started to eat again. "Mal, you said it yourself. Your just a little scared. Your living in another place that isn't the north. You just got to try it longer. We just moved here" she said, as I looked at her. I sighed as I cracked a smile. "Your right. I got to try it longer. We haven't even started work yet" I said, taking another bite. Kim sighed as she spoke. "If it's bothering you, talk to me, Tsmugi or the boys. I bet even the president would love to talk about it with you. Don't let it bother you" she said, as I looked at her. "I don't want anyone to worry about it. The boys don't need to get involved" I said, as I remembered the plane ride. "Well, Iori knows," I said, as Kim turned to me. "You've talked to Iori about it?" she asked as I nodded. "Yeah. Well, a little. I told him I was worried about my brothers and he told me about him and Mitsuki. It helped me out a bit. Made me feel better knowing how he feels about his older brother" I said, as Kim sighed.
"Well. Maybe if you wanted to go to Iori again. I bet he'll love to talk to you about it. Tamaki also has a sister and Riku has a brother. So I bet they wouldn't mind it either. Anyone would probably help out" she said, as I looked down. I took a deep breath as I sighed. I shook my head as I spoke. "I don't want the boys to get involved. I don't wanna stress them out, seeing that they still have to sing" I said, as Kim looked at me. "Well, you got to write the songs for them to sing. If you're bothered by it, it might affect them" she said, as I looked at her. "Your right. It's just hard" I said, as I looked at the ground. I heard a sigh as Kim went back to eating. "You looked happy when the boys took interest into Kingdom Hearts," she said, taking another bite of her lunch. I nodded as I spoke. "Yeah, I didn't know that they'd like it. They just kept joining us" I said as she chuckled. "Tamaki's reaction to Xigbar," she said as the air went silent. I stopped eating as I looked at her in complete silence. "His reaction was the best," I said, as we both burst out laughing. When we died down I started to eat again. "That was a fun night," I said as Kim nodded. "You've seemed happy. Just think, we're all crazy" she said, as I looked up across the street. "Yeah. We fit in with those boys" I said, as my attention was pulled from a tv in the nearby shop.
Another band was playing as I heard singing. "Is that idolish7 their playing?" I asked as I got up to walk over. "Bestie, wait," Kim said, as she stood up to follow. I walked over to the tv as I study it more. The tv showed a group that contained three men. They stood in uniforms in the middle of an arena. "Bestie, watcha watching?" Kim asked as I shushed her. "Trying to hear this," I said, as I took another bite. "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you. Trigger" the announcer said as the screen darkened to form a circle of light. The three boys started to sing and dance in the middle of the lit up circle. I studied them as I watched the performance. I didn't even eat because I was so focused on the lyrics of the song playing. I watched as the boys dance, but I was more moved by the song itself. I closed my eyes as I focused, wishing the tv was louder. I pictured how the lyrics were written and the sound that the music makes. It didn't seem like an Idolish7 song. It was similar, with a bit more techno to me. I looked up as I focused on the boys, watching them sing and dance. Their style was different than I7. "Wow, this Trigger band is a little catchy. Don't you think so?" Kim said, but I wasn't paying attention. I was too in tune with the band that I forgot where I was. It was like I was hypnotized by their performance. I listened to each part of the song, thinking about the words. I was feeling like I was moving closer to the tv, but didn't know if I was walking closer. "Bestie" I heard a faint echo in my head. A hand was slapped on my shoulder, dramatically shaking it. "Bestie, snap out of it," the voice said as I still studied the group.
When the performance was done, I studied the boys as they caught their breaths. I studied the way that they kept their last position while I thought about the lyrics of the song. "BESTIE, SNAP OUT OF IT!" I heard Kim yell, which pulled me back into reality. I instantly looked to the ground as I studied my feet. Finally, I looked up and then at Kim. She was studying me with a worried look on her face. "You ok Mal?" she asked as I looked back at the screen, seeing it on a commercial. "Yeah, I am. Why? Something wrong?" I asked as Kim shook her head. "No. You just watched that band and ignoring me. It was like you were hypnotized or something. I've been trying to snap you out of it for about five minutes" she explained. I looked down as I studied the ground. "Sorry, that song was catchy. That Trigger band had a good song" I said, as Kim sighed. "So, you focused on the lyrics," she said, as to tell her a lie to believe what I told her. I nodded as I looked at the tv. "That song was written well. I could tell by the performance" I said, as I walked away with Kim.
The lyrics of Trigger's song still rung within my head. I just couldn't get the lyrics out. I imagined it like I was still watching it, not believing what I saw. "They have a good writer," I said, as I looked at the ground. I looked up as I looked at Kim. She was watching me with a worried look on her face. "Something wrong?" she asked, as I shook my head. "No, why? Do I seem sick or something?" I asked as Kim sighed. "Those lights didn't hurt your eyes at all, did it? I know how you're sensitive to bright lights" she said, as I shook my head. "No. I was just amazed by that Trigger band's performance. Think I7 could beat that?" I asked as Kim hooked her arm around my neck. "With your song and my choreography, we can make Trigger look like a garage band," she said, with a smile. I nodded as I tilted my head towards her, resting it on her arms. "I7 can so beat Trigger, with our help of course," I said, as Kim nodded. "That's my bestie. Now let's go shopping some more" she said, as she pulled me down the sidewalk.
