33 Chapter Thrity-three ~~~
I was sitting on one end if the practice room beside Misuk, Cathy and Sam. Our heads put together as we watched what we'd recorded.
"Yeah, that's good enough. I'm sure we can work with what we have," Sam said as he sat back. Stretching his hand over his head. Cathy groaned as she too sat back, leaning heavily against the wall.
"Eunha, you're filming the ride back tonight?" Misuk asked, starting to pack away our equipment.
I started to nod my head, about to give her an affirmative answer. Before I could so much as open my mouth someone cut across.
"Sorry Noona, Eunha's not working tonight." Jungkook's voice came from behind me the same moment two arms hooked under my arm - lifting me to my feet. "We are going somewhere." He grinned. Wrapping me in a not-to-tight embrace, he leant his chin on my shoulder.
I huffed pushing him off - it wasn't like he was holding on to me in an unbreakable hold. Only he stuck right back to me when I pushed him off.
"And when was I going to know this?" I asked letting him to drag me away.
Yes, I could have easily held my ground if I had really wanted to. He wasn't holding on to me that hard. In fact his hold was loose enough for me to push him off any time I wanted.
"You just did." He chuckled.
Harrumphing at his reply, I quickly turned around to bow and shout my goodbye to the staff - all the while Jungkook dragged me away.
"Have fun!" Cathy shouted after us.
Chuckling I turned around to Jungkook once more. I couldn't exactly fight off the grin that had taken over my lips.
"So ... where are we truly going?" I questioned once we were in the hallway. While not exactly empty, we were kind of alone.
Jungkook's eyes twinkled as he gave me a toothy smile. One that had his eyes practically disappearing. "You asked me to take you on a proper date, so that's what we're doing."
To say I was shocked at his admission was an understatement. I simply stared at him while he proceeded to drag me towards the parking. It took me a moment to - what with Jungkook not even bother to snap me out of my wandering thoughts - snap out of my shock and react.
"Aish! You should've asked in front of Haneul! How is she even going to know if we don't show her?" I questioned. Wiggling my hand out of his hold, I wrapped it around his elbow instead. So we could walk shoulder to shoulder instead of him dragging me around.
Pouting Jungkook gave me a look akin to that of a kicked puppy.
"Eunha..." he started, his voice going impossibly softer. "I know I asked you to help me with the whole Haneul thing, doesn't mean that I can't do something simply because I want to do it with you either. If we're going to be fake dating, then I intend to treat you every bit like the princess you are supposed to be treated. Whether Haneul is around or not, I'm going to treat you like my girlfriend."
We had stopped walking. At one point he had wrapped his hands around my neck, leaning his forehead against mine.
"Because you are a very important person to me, Eunha. And whatever we are doing, I never want to stop being your friend. You mean too much to me to ever make you feel insignificant. So even if what we are doing isn't real, I want to treat you like you are on top of this whole world."
Eyes filled with sincerity, he gave me a small smile at the end of his speech.
Lips parted in surprise, I could only bring myself to nod my head in reply to him.
Chuckling, he pressed his lips to my forehead, one hand dropping from around my shoulder to around my waist. Pulling me closer. If my own eyes hadn't fluttered shut I'd have noticed his were too.
Someone clearing there throat snapped us out of our bubble. I'd have jumped away from him if his arms didn't keep me in place.
"I hope you two realise there are camera's all over the place." Hoseok's cheerful voice called out to us. "And that you two are in the middle of a hallway."
"Ah Hyung!" Jungkook whined, letting go of me with what I could only call reluctance. It wasn't even like he let me go all the way, more like loosened his hold on me. "We weren't even doing anything." He grumbled, more to himself than to Hoseok.
Hoseok only laughed and shook his head. "Come on, we better get going. I feel like my bones are going to snap if I have to stay on my feet for a moment longer." He said with a dramatic groan.
Jungkook grinned widely, pulling me back to his side. He shook his head, hair flopping into his eyes. "Can't, I'm taking Eunha out on a date."
I know my eyebrows shot up in surprise. Right before my head shot towards Jungkook I spotted Haneul walking towards us in tow with Jimin and Taehyung. Hence me wrapping my arm around his waist and leaning against him.
Hoseok's eyes zeroed in on the action and I gave him a sheepish smile. The only reason I didn't pull away was because we were supposed to be putting a show for Haneul. What other time was better than when she was right in front of us.
"You are?" Hoseok questioned eyes jumping from me to Jungkook, back and forth with suspicion etched in his gaze.
"He didn't even ask." I pouted at Hoseok, but couldn't hold back the wide grin at Jungkook's dramatic gasp.
"What do you mean I didn't ask? I just did." He said sounding offended. The hand around my shoulder told another story. The way he leaned against me said he was just playing along with me.
"Telling is not asking. You told me we were going, you didn't ask." I told him in a matter-of-fact tone. I even wiggled a finger at him for emphasis.
"Is that so..." he murmured, lips forming a natural pout as he contemplated my words. His head doing a quick tilt in thought. "Well, then." He added as he pulled away from me. Slipping easily out of my hold, releasing me at the same time as he took a few steps away from me.
I watched in amusement as he fell dramatically on one knee, hand placed over his heart and the other held out towards me.
By this point Haneul, Jimin and Taehyung had joined us too. Their conversation ceasing as the three of them watched the youngest members dramatics. It was obvious they'd heard the tail of our conversation, so what he was doing wasn't much of a surprised towards the three.
If any Jimin and Taehyung looked as amused as me. Haneul's expression said something entirely different. Something I'm not sure was entirely mirth.
"Soo Eunha, will you grace this pitiful fool with your warm presence by accepting to go on a date with me?" He asked, not even bothering to lower his voice. Everyone in the hallways had stopped walking to watch the boy.
Most of the staff laughing the other half confused over what was going on. Then there was Jimin and Hoseok who was trying hard not to laugh. Taehyung who wasn't even bothering to hide the wide boxy grin as he looked at me with twinkling eyes that screamed mischief and Haneul who was staring at Jungkook with her mouth hanging open.
It wasn't in me to feel embarrassed. Not when this was all for show and maybe he did mean whatever he was saying, but their was double meaning behind his words.
Instead, all I could do was laugh. I was laughing so hard, arms wrapped around my middle, head tossed back. I couldn't believe he had actually done that. It wasn't like I was going to tell him 'no', he knew this as well as me. We were playing after all.
"This is the part where you answer." Jungkook chided, but the soft smile on his lips and the crinkle in his eyes told enough. He wasn't mad, he was just nudging me to play along.
"Oh, right, right." I said shaking my head. Taking a deep breath and holding it until I was sure I had my laughter under control, I slowly let it out. When I opened my eyes again, I couldn't keep my lips from lifting upwards, but I kept myself in check from laughing.
Humming, I pretended to think his offer through. "I don't know... why would I go out with a pitiful fool on a date with?" I questioned, rhetoric. Even going as far as to tap a finger against my chin. "Doesn't sound very interesting."
Laughing, Jungkook tugged me closer, one hand falling loosely on my hip, the other keeping hold of my hand.
"In that case, how about a handsome idol who's head-over-heels fallen for you?" He asked, eyebrows wiggling suggestively.
"Oh, now you're talking." I said taking a step closer so he had to tilt his head to keep eye-contact with me. I bent until I was hovering right over him. Face-to-face, breath mingling and lips aligned. All I - or he - had to do was tip our heads and our lips would be touching. Removing my hand from his hold, I wrapped both round his neck.
"I'd be honored to be your date this lovely evening Jeon Jungkook." I told lowering my voice, pretending it was for his ears only. In truth, I didn't lower my voice enough for it to be just for him. Just enough that only Jimin, Hoseok, Taehyung and Haneul were the only others - apart from Jungkook himself - who heard me.
Laughing softly, he cupped my nape. Wrapping the hand that was on my hip around my waist, he pulled me closer to him, toppling me from where I stood. It was a good thing he loved the gym and had the strength to keep both of us from crashing landing on the ground, because I fell right on top of him.
"Alright, you two are being disgustingly cute. And making me feel single and alone," Hoseok groaned at the two of us giggling on the floor, making us pause and look up at him with innocent eyes. It wasn't like we'd forgotten they we're there. This was a whole big act for them after all. "Now get your asses off the floor and get going." He shooed at us.
Considering how scary Hoseok is when angry the two of us were on our feet in record time. Jungkook's arm slipping around my shoulder and caressing my arm. The action still stumping me.
This was the same boy who couldn't stand to look me directly in the eyes a month ago. How did we go from that to this in such a short span of time? Especially when I spent most of that time hanging around Suga - and whoever was with him.
Sure this week has been a whirlwind of emotion and discovering new things... important new things.
Like it was hard surviving without Yoongi around. Like learning Jungkook was an amazing warm body to hug and fall asleep with. I can't believe I'm saying this, but he was almost better than Suga when it came to hugs. Okay who am I kidding? Everyone was better than Oppa when it comes to hugging. But not when sleeping.
When it's dark and we are alone, he doesn't mind letting me squeeze the living daylights out of him.
"We might get late to come back because we're walking, so tell Jin Hyung not to worry... or wait up." Jungkook told the four of them. They were quick to assure us everything will be alright and Jimin shooed us off from stalling further.
"Let's go find manager Song." Jungkook whispered to me as he steered me away from his Hyung's, who were grinning wide with proudness seeping from their core, and Haneul - who hasn't said a word since she saw the two of us.
"Why manager Song?" I asked, leaning against his side. This caused him to slip his hand down my arm and wrap around my waist instead. Holding on to both of our balance. Well, the boys didn't call him muscle pig for nothing. He could hold my weight with no problem.
"I needed to find a manager of ours who you're not so familiar with - which was very hard mind you." Jungkook said with a shrug. I shot him a weird look at his explanation. How did that make sense? "I can't have you leaving me to whine at my manage now can I? Also, if I had asked Sejin-hyung you'd spend our whole date talking with him instead of me."
I laughed, elbowing his side. Holding back from really digging my elbow into his side.
"Why? are you jealous?" I teased giggling.
Jungkook huffed - couldn't hide the fond smile he was sporting - looking away. "Maybe."
Not having expected that answer, I looked at him with wide eyes. Gauging his own reaction to see how much truth was behind his words. I mean, right now Haneul - or anyone else - wasn't around for him to be acting. And the redness of his neck and the pink hue tinting his cheeks couldn't be mistaken for anything but a blush.
"Oh?" I blinked, not willing to believe my own eyes. He couldn't possibly be serious! I mean why would he be jealous over something like that? And towards me too?
"Ah, there you two are. I was beginning to think Jungkook chickened out of asking you out." Manager Song's voice snapped both our attentions - the last part of his words directed at me. Chuckling sheepishly, I looked at Jungkook.
It wasn't that I didn't know Song Hobum. I was on speaking terms with all their nine managers and pretty much most of the staff they work with. It's just that I'm not as close to any of their other managers as much as Sejin oppa. And maybe Oh Seoyeon and Lee Jeonil.
"Hyung!" Jungkook whined knocking the side of his head against mine. The action too gentle and light to hurt.
Laughing I wrapped my hand around his waist, pushing myself closer to him. "Oh he asked alright... in a really dramatic way too." I giggled. I don't know why I was trying so hard to sell our actions - it wasn't like Haneul was even around. Besides, its not like anyone is going to tell her that we weren't as lovely dovely as she believed us to be.
Jungkook gasped and looked at me with a look of playful betrayal. I could only laugh, hugging just a fraction tighter before letting go.
"It's not like he won't find out. Come tomorrow everyone in the company will be aware of our little banter. Considering we were in the hallway, their were cameras following Hobi oppa and Jimin and Taehyung oppa. Not to mention everyone who actually saw what happened."
Jungkook hummed in thought before agreeing with me.
"Hmm, true. Alright then. Are we all set to go Manager-nim?" Jungkook asked leaning his cheek against my head as he turned back to Manager Song.
"Yes, all good. You two go ahead and well follow. Don't forget to stick to the route you told us, and we'd be all good." Manager Song agreed with a smile. He handed Jungkook a bucket hat and a mask while he was at it. A hat for me as well, but I didn't get a mask.
Donning them on, Jungkook slipped his fingers through mine giving it a testing swing. Chuckling I curled my arm around his, our fingers remaining entwined, so I could lean my head on his arm - I was too short to lean against his shoulder. Then we started out of the company.
