11 Chapter Eleven ~
Year 2018, February 12
I was trying to sit still, I honestly was. Except I felt way to jittery to be still. My shifting around was irritating Mira who was trying to do my make-up.
It was the worst possible time for Suga Oppa to call, but AugstD started playing and my head snapped in the direction of my phone.
Mira had been applying eyeliner to me when it happened. It truly was a miracle that instead of poking my eyes with the stick, only a line was drawn to my hairline. Mira sighed deeply looking so done with me right now.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I apologised turning back to the mirror. "I won't answer, you can finish."
Mira sighed again, grabbing a wet tissue. "Just answer the phone." She said sounding as done with me as she looked.
"No, no, it's fine. I can talk to him after you finish." I told determinedly staring at the mirror. With all the efforts Mira was putting ignoring Oppa for a few more minutes was the least I could do.
"Eun-Ha, just answer the phone." She said. To insist her point she even grabbed my phone from her desk and pressed it to my hand. "Do you know how much worse you're fidgeting after it started ringing? A lot. So just talk, or we are never going to get done."
I scrunched my nose and gave her an apologetic smile. Then answered the phone.
"Where are you?" Was the greeting I received the moment I answered. Yes, even before I greeted him he asked me that.
"Still in the dorm. Mira-chan is dolling me up." I said grinning up at her. She only rolled her eyes and started wiping off the black line drawn across my temple.
"You're still getting ready? Yah! Do you even know when the ceremony starts?" He shouted at me. I could hear a buzz of voices behind him, but too unclear to make out what was being said.
"Yes, at 12." I replied frowning. I know I get spaced out a lot, but seriously. Did he really think I'd forget the time of my own graduation ceremony? That would be absurd, even for me.
"And what is the time right now Eun-Ha?" He asked me with - in certain - gritted teeth.
I blinked, remembering Mira was still applying make-up right before I turned to check. "Urrrrr... I don't knoe?." I answered truthfully, even if I knew I was going to get yelled at.
Surprisingly, instead of yelling at me for getting late to my own ceremony he only sighed deeply - like he was giving up.
"Sorry Oppa." I apologised pouting.
"Eun-Ha." Mira whined when I did. Too late I realised that she had been trying to apply lipstick for me.
"You're lucky today is your graduation." Suga replied before I could apologise to Mira.
Was it strange that I felt relieved that he told me the reason he didn't scold? Because it was so unlike him not to chide me when I do anything stupid and I hate feeling as if he gave up on me. I always get terrified that he'd not want to have anything to do with me ever again if he gave up on me.
He was the only good thing I had in Seoul.
Yes, I do have Ha-neul, Mira, Appa and Ha-Jun Oppa here, but Suga meant much more to me.
The weirdest thing about this that he the one person I spend even little time than Ha-Jun Oppa. I visit Ha-Jun Oppa at least once a week. Suga Oppa is hardly ever available to see. With his packed schedule he was the most hardest person I meet up with.
And yet, no one has worried over my safety the way he has. Not even my own mother worries about my safety less than he does.
Sure, we talk only through text messages and the rare facetime and through the vlogs he sends (nope I never make vlogs, I just can't seem to get footage to use, also I hate cameras with a passion).
The reason he became so precious to me is because no matter how tightly done his schedule, no matter how dead tired he is, no matter what time zone we are in, no matter where he is, he always, always makes sure to send me at least a 'sleep well' every night.
No one frets over where I am, what I'm doing and who I'm with the way he does. Nobody makes sure I know the way home and am not lost the way he does. How could I not love him.
"Eun-Ha? Eun-Ha? EUN-HA!" I had spaced out again.
"Huh? Huh." I said blinking myself back to the conversation. He just sighed, used to me zoning out of the conversation often.
"Shouldn't you be there an hour before the ceremony starts?" He asked. He was trying to hide it, but I could hear the concern in his voice. For all the chiding he does, he really hates it when other people does it. That includes my father.
Even if he doesn't say anything when he does, he'll press his lips tightly and look away.
"No, before half-an-hour. We'll be their in time Oppa. Don't worry." I assured him just as Mira trapped my shoulder - indicating that she was done.
"You better be Haie. You can't be late to your own graduation ceremony." He told me. Then suddenly he laughed.
He sounded so happy that my heart melted at the sound. "I can't believe you're graduating already. You're still a baby girl." He said still laughing.
"Oppa~" I whined in protest, setting the phone on speaker so I could change while taking to him. It didn't really bother me that Mira could hear our conversation. I probably should have warned him though. Oh well.
My whining only made him laugh harder. "You are still a baby Haie. You get lost easily, You're terrified of the dark and can't walk in the road without holding someone's hand." He pointed out. "And those are just the things I can list off the top of my head."
Mira started laughing at his words along with him, making me pout at her. "Not you too Mira-chan." I protested. In case I didn't mention earlier, Mira can understand Korean. We just speak English to keep practising.
"What he said wasn't exactly wrong." Mira laughed at the same time he asked, "Mira-chan?"
"Yeah, Mira-chan. I'm on speaker." I grumbled, finally pulling on my frock over my head. I ignored what Mira said because I didn't have a comeback for that. It wasn't exactly like they were wrong for me to keep protesting.
"Haie." He sighed again sounding so done with me. Hmm,lately that was all he sounded when talking to me. Was I being more oblivious than usual? Maybe I was just excited more than everyday.
I had an excuse this once. It wasn't everyday I graduated from high school.
"Okay, just get here on time." He added before the line went dead. That's Suga for you alright. Hang-up without telling anything.
"He hang-up?" Mira questioned sounding shocked. I looked up at her, to find her staring at my phone in disbelief.
I couldn't help laughing at her expression. "That's just the way he is Mira-chan. He's a very busy person, so he got used to hanging up after saying what he needs to say." I explained.
Looking at me, she made a face.
"I'm liking this man less and less everyday I hear about him. How can you love him so much is beyond me." She said, shaking her head. Turning back to face the mirror she continued beautifying her own face.
"You'd understand if you met him Mira-chan." I said, sitting on the edge of her bed to put on my socks and pumps. No matter if I looked like a kid, it was a cute look.
"Why can't I meet him Ha-chan?" She asked. Even if she already knew the answer she continues to ask this.
"He's very busy. Even I rarely get to see him, and mostly in the dead of the night when any sane person would be sleeping, how could I possibly have the two of you meet?"
I laughed. Standing up and dusting my dress free of creases, I walked over to the mirror. Giving myself a critical eye, I looked over at my outfit for the day.
"That makes him sound even more suspicious." Mira said, giving me a blank look through the mirror. "You know what? Don't try defending him. You just make me scared to let you keep talking to him."
I laughed as I moved back to the bed. Settling myself until Mira was ready so we could leave, I checked for messages from Suga.
"Mira-chan, you know Appa works for his boss don't you? Even my Appa is not worried about me meeting him at 3 in the morning." I informed her, still scrolling through my messages. I wanted to know if Ha-neul had replied to me too, but no news from her.
Mira again looked at me through the mirror, but I didn't see the look she shot me.
"No offense Ha-chan, but I think your father is missing a few nuts." She told me in a serious voice.
Considering that I thought the same, I couldn't be offended at her.
"I agree. Appa is weird, but you don't think he'd really agree with me keeping in contact with Suga Oppa if he's a bad person do you?" I asked her still scrolling through my phone.
"Suga Oppa?" Mira asked, done with he make-up and turning to me questioningly.
I know a gasp of horror escaped my lips at her question. How on earth could I have been so careless? After all these years keeping this a secret from her... argh, I'm such an idiot. Luckily, instead of looking at her like a deer-caught-in-headlights I continued to stare at my phone.
"Yeah, he looks so hot doesn't he?" I asked with a nervous chuckle, showing her my phone screen.
It was coincidential that I had been reading my last few messages with Ha-neul and that was one of the pics I'd sent to her. Sure, it was old. But we'd been arguing about what hair color had looked best on him.
"I still believe he looked best with mint hair." I added with a pout, turning the phone back and looking at it. "But Neul-ah says he was the hottest with Red hair, as in the boy in love MV. Not that he isn't hot period, but mint hair is the one that..."
"Ha-chan." Mira's soft voice cut across my rant. She had an amused smile as she looked up at me. "Yes, Suga is very hot and sexy, we all know that. But please don't change the topic." Her voice wasn't chiding, she was stating a fact.
Mumbling a 'sorry' I looked back at my phone.
"Will your Oppa be coming to the graduation ceremony?" She asked when the silence dragged.
I licked my lips, avoiding her eyes. As much as I wanted and didn't want them to meet, I didn't know the answer to her question. I distinctly remember asking him not to come. Said that he wasn't missing my graduation ceremony for the world. With him, or could be anything.
"I... Don't know. I asked him not to come because he's very busy these days. But knowing him he might disregard all that and still show up." I answered her honestly.
She hummed and nodded her head, giving a twirl in from of the mirror here facing me. "Well?"
"You look gorgeous Mira-chan." I told sincerely as I got to my feet. And she did, look gorgeous I mean.
She laughed shaking her head. "Alright, it's time we get going." She said, reverting to Korean so she didn't get scolded by her parents for talking in English. They wanted her to become more fluent in her Korean, and wanted her to use the language more.
Laughing, I hooked my hand with hers and we started downstairs. We had a long day ahead of us. How long I was just about to find out.
A/N~
So sorry for the late update. I was working on a chapter to update on Valentines, but my internet connection was being whacky so I couldn't update it.
I'm sorry of this chapter is not very good. The original chapter I wrote was deleted so I wrote most of what I can remember happened.
As always, constructive criticism is welcome as point out typos.
Purple you
