☁︎ Dazzling- Joseph X Reader

Your POV

"Where on earth is it?!" Martha shrieked. She'd spent her entire morning looking for her gun which she had misplaced.

"What are you looking for Martha?" you got up, eager to help the frustrated coordinator.

"My gun, I know I left it somewhere in my room. Unless it grew two legs and walked away." she angrily tore through the kitchen.

Eli offered to help aswell and before Martha could refuse you both split up to search for it.

It seems totally unlike her to just let her gun go missing and she sure is unhappy about it. I don't think there's anyone near this side of the Manor at the moment, there are no matches going on currently..

You decided to search for it near the cooridor that split the Manor in two. She might've dropped it when she came back from her last match yesterday.

Searching near the door where you all enter the Manor from, you got lost in thought as you trailed down the hallway. Somehow you noticed your heart began to race. Only then had it occurred to you that you were alone in the hunter's portion of the Manor. You haven't personally seen any hunters outside of the maps, so you had no idea what an encounter with one could be like. Beginning to fret you held your chest and started to back away but your heart rate only began to accelerate.

You walked onto a sturdy surface, letting out a gasp of fright as you had not expected it to be there.

"Are you okay mademoiselle?" the 'sturdy surface' softly held you up from falling.
Not being able to form any words you looked up into what seemed to be the most dazzling set of bright blue eyes. For what felt like an eternity you were lost in them, they reminded you of the sky and your heart rate lowered. When you realized the beautiful man before you was a hunter you frantically shook your hands and backed up into a wall.

"I-I'm okay!" you stuttered.
You've only seen this hunter once before, but the match finished before he had a chance to get close to you. The thing beating in your chest sped up once more, this time it wasn't out of fright.

"Ah okay. What is a beautiful lady like yourself doing here alone?" his voice deep yet slick, felt somewhat melodic to your ears.

The nervousness you felt held you back from speaking, you couldn't manage to form a sentence.

"Oh my, how thoughtless of me. I hadn't introduced myself, I'm Joseph. Are you scared dear?" he stepped backwards in attempt to give you space.

Internally you were soffocating in both anxiousness and fear.
He's even more attractive up close.. This is absurd he's a hunter!

You shook your head, not fond of the feelings you were having.
"I- I'm sorry.. I haven't b-been this close to a hunter.. Unless they were trying to chair me." you confessed, still unsure of what would come of this situation.

"If it is that you fear, rest assured I would not dare to hurt a single hair on your head." he gave you a smile, and offered his hand.
"Come, I'll take you back to the survivor's side of the Manor."

Shakily you placed your hand in his and followed as he led you down the cooridor.
"J-Joseph?" you called out to him without thinking.

"Yes my dear?" he responded quickly and you once again became nervous, pink tint adorning your cheeks.

"A-are hunters not allowed to hurt survivors here?" you took the opportunity to get a better understanding, since the only stories you heard about seeing hunters outside of the game were from Martha and Lucky. Since you understood how frustrated hunters would become with them it would be expected for them to have.. Distasteful experiences.

"Correct. It's forbidden to hunt survivors unless we are in a game." he explained.

With a sigh of relief you felt the fear leave your body. The nervousness however remained.

"Thank you for leading me back, I would have probably gotten lost." you gave him a grateful smile, one which he found strikingly alluring.

He rose your hand in his and kissed it which caused you to blush furiously.
"Not a problem, ma chérie!"

The moment he let go of you hand you clasped them together and fiddled with your fingers.

"Wait! Before you leave, may I know your name?" the beautiful man smiled as he questioned you. If your face wasn't already red, it was sure to be now.

"I-it's (y/n)." you gazed up at his blue orbs.

He admired the look on your face, something about you was encaptivating to him. Joseph had never felt something as magnetic before, it confused him how he had only just met you but thought it wasn't enough.

"A beautiful name, for a beautiful miss." he unconsciously tucked a few strands of your lose hair behind your ear, your entire body felt warm and fuzzy as you couldn't contain the heavy blush that crept its way onto your face.

"I must get back before the others start to worry. It was a pleasure meeting you, Joseph!" you smiled toothily as you bid the handsome hunter goodbye.

"Until next time, my dear. Hopefully we meet again soon." his voice held some disappointment in it, as though he was hoping for something that would never happen. He felt as though you would never speak to him again, he is a hunter after all. You caught onto it and despite your nervous state, you smiled sheepishly and looked him in the eyes.
"M-Maybe tomorrow. I-in the garden?" you offered.

"Most definitely!" he perked up with excitement.

"I'll be there at noon then!" you cheered and began your way down the hall, turning back once more to look into his dazzling eyes before he disappeared.

"I may be falling in love with a hunter.." grinning as you whispered and held your chest.

"You WHAT?!" Emily gaped at you wide eyed and roughly gripped onto your shoulders, pulling you out of the bubbly state you were in.

"Y-you heard that..?" shrinking into yourself you covered your face in embarrassment and attempted to shoo her away.

"(y/n), are you serious?" her tone was stricken with caution as she seemed genuinely concerned.

"Y-yes? I just met the photographer.. He's really nice a-and I-" your face heated up once more, blood rushing to your cheeks.

"Oh lord- you really are losing your marbles." Emily joked as she let you go, patting your back in a friendly way.
"Wait, the photographer? Do you know how many times he's chaired me?!" her face contorted in disgust as she remembers all the losing matches she had played against him.

"Hunters aren't allowed to hunt survivors out of the games, so I don't think you have to worry about him chairing me in the garden tomorrow." instantly you held your mouth.

"The garden?" she raised an eyebrow, to which you only ran away. Flustered at the thought of once more meeting the man who seemed to have stolen your heart with a single glance.
"Wait, (y/n)!" Emily called out to you, but you were long gone. Headed straight for your room.
