Kevin x Vera
The survivors were gathered around the main entrance doors, whispering amongst each other while listening out for any footsteps outside.
"I hear the new survivor is a cowboy!" Emma whispered to Emily. Kreacher, who had overheard her, leaned over and whisper shouted, "A cowboy?!" Emily gestured for him to quiet down, but it was too late. The chatter increased in volume as people expressed their thoughts to one another.
"A cowboy? Is he like the ones from the Wild West movies?" William asked giddily. Naib laughed.
"Nah, I bet he's from a tribe or something." He said, his mind already full of strange images of what the cowboy could look like. Martha laughed and shook her head.
"He's probably normal. Hopefully he's good." She mumbled, half to herself.
"Do you think he has any cool gadgets on him?" Tracy asked excitedly, joining the trio. Martha shook her head.
"He's probably from a tribe. I'm not sure how much tech they have." She answered, earning a sigh of disappointment from Tracy.
"I just hope he's nice." Helena said softly, walking over. William grinned.
"I'm sure he will be!" He lightly smacked Helena on the shoulder. "Everyone who's come recently have been nice!"
"Well, maybe apart from Vera." Tracy piped. She quickly glanced at the perfumer across the room. She didn't seem to be paying attention to anyone apart from herself. Vera was examining her nails, looking bored out of her mind.
"I mean," Martha paused, trying to defend the perfumer. "At least she's a good kiter?"
Helena nodded. "Whenever I'm in a match with her, the hunter never comes near me."
Tracy adjusted her helmet and looked at the floor. "Well, yeah but I just wish she was nicer. Sometimes I'll try talk to her and she'll just brush me off. Even when I heal her, she just goes! Never a thank you or anything!" She slowly trailed off, feeling guilty of talking bad about the perfumer. She was a good team mate, but her cooperation could use some help.
"Well, maybe the new guy can 'melt her heart'" Naib joked. Everyone chuckled.
"Yeah, hopefully." Tracy smiled.
"Everyone! Be quiet! I think he's here!" Emma yelled. Instantly, the room became silent. The sound of steps outside were now audible. They came closer and closer, before they stopped outside the door. Everyone held their breath.
BAM! The door burst open and revealed a man whose appearance screamed cowboy.
His red and black outfit had feathers on the ends of his sleeves and on a necklace hanging around his neck. He had two white streaks of face paint on his face just above his beard. Around his waist was a belt with golden accents and a lasso rolled into a neat circle. On top of his head was the signature cowboy hat.
No one spoke. A moment of nothing passed before the man tipped his hat at everyone.
"Good evening! My name is Kevin Alonso. It's a pleasure to meet you all, but most of all," He looked at Vera and proceeded to lasso her in an instant. If you blinked, you would miss it. He held Vera bridal style and grinned at her. "It's an honour to meet you, my lady~"
Vera blinked and her cheeks went slightly red before she regained her composure and punched him in the face. He dropped her and reeled back in surprise. She quickly stood up and brushed non-existent dust off her light purple dress. With no emotion in her voice, she looked at him and said "Please don't touch me. Welcome to the manor. I'll be off." And with that, she was gone, closing the door behind her.
Everyone blinked in unison. Once. Twice.
"W-what.." Emma squeaked. "U-uhm! Whatever! H-hi, Kevin was it? It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Emma!" She walked to Kevin and then realised he had no things.
"My bags are outside, I'll carry them~" He said, still smooth despite what just happened. Emma just laughed awkwardly and nodded.
"I'll show you to your room."
Kevin returned and passed by her, winking. "What a delightful girl you are. Thank you."
Her cheeks became red with embarrassment. "T-thank you! Right this way!"
They left the room, leaving everyone to think about what just happened.
William nudged Naib. "Melt her heart, you said?" He chuckled. Naib punched him playfully. "Hey you never know, he might."
"If anything, he's gonna try. That's for sure." Martha said with a small smile.
"He seems nice!" Helena piped.
"His lasso seems cool!" Tracy said, her eyes shining with curiosity. And with that, the room became loud with chatter once more.
It had been three days since Kevin arrived and he had fit in quite well. Everyone took a liking to him, except for Vera who, as usual, was separating herself from everyone.
"The next match is in Moonlit Riverpark with Vera, Naib, Helena and Kevin. Get over there guys! It'll start soon." Martha announced. The said survivors got together and quickly made their way to the waiting room which connected to Moonlit Riverpark.
This was the first match that Kevin and Vera had together. Still full of confidence and hope, Kevin shot multiple shots, all of which were shut down by Vera.

ATTEMPT 1
"Hey! Vera, is it?" Kevin asked, sitting down next to the perfumer who was checking her perfumes. "You already know me, right?"
Vera looked at him, boredom in her eyes.
"...Oh, you."
Silence enveloped them.
"Who are you again?"
Kevin proceeded to walk away and cry in a corner.
ATTEMPT 2
Vera let out a scream as Joseph's sword struck her back. She groaned in both pain and frustration.
"D-dammit.. 3 ciphers... left.."
She attempted to crawl, her vision blurry and distorted, but Joseph stamped his foot on her and tied her to the balloons. She writhed around, kicking the air and flailing her arms about. As her vision started to clear, she saw the chair coming into view.
'No, struggle harder!' she thought desperately. She writhed even harder, even attempting to kick Joseph. Suddenly, she felt something pull her away from the chair.
'Did I struggle free?' she thought, a smile spreading across her face. She expected to see the ground and Joseph but instead, she was met with Kevin. Her smile instantly turned into a frown.
"Kevin."
He grinned.
"You remember me! Well, did I sweep you off your feet or what?" He winked and she stifled a laugh.
"No, Joseph did though."
Kevin then spent the rest of the game holding Vera, crying and bullying the hunter whilst shouting "STAY AWAY FROM MY LADY!"
ATTEMPT 3
She had finally managed to get Kevin to (reluctantly) let her go and now she was kiting her way to the gate. Joseph was right on her tail. The exit gate came into view. Almost there! She tried to run faster but she was too tired. Then, she felt that same force pulling her to the gate. Kevin grabbed her and held her bridal style, like he did on the first day. His face was inches away from hers and she quickly looked away.
"Well, I think I swept you off your feet~" He said, winking. "Quite literally."
She paused, searching her brain for an answer. It came to her in an instant.
"I like Joseph more."
Kevin then developed a burning hatred against Joseph.
Kevin left the match feeling a bit down. Naib noticed and came over, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"What's the matter?"
"Vera."
Naib laughed.
"You shoot your shot?"
"Three of them. All shut down."
Naib didn't bother holding back. He burst out laughing, clutching his stomach.
"Three?? You're real determined, man. I gotta say, that's real impressive." He left, muttering the number three to himself and chuckling. Kevin sighed and rubbed his forehead. This was a big blow to his self esteem, but he would continue. He would get Vera to like him back.
ATTEMPT 4
Kevin lassoed her off of the balloons every match they were in together and showed off his kiting skills to her.
Her response: "William kites better."
ATTEMPT 5
Kevin made and brought a ice cream sundae to her room, topped with all of her favourite things that he had found out she liked via stalking (we don't talk about that).
Her response: "I'm not hungry, you can eat it."
ATTEMPT 6
Kevin asked Vera to come outside to the garden. When she did, she found that Kevin had made her dinner (her favourite food) and decorated the table with rose petals and purple table cloth.
Her response: nothing. She just ate and left.
ATTEMPT 20
Kevin bribed the hunter and got them to get Vera to the dungeon. When she went down, she was met with Kevin. He was surrounded with presents and paper love hearts. All of the gifts were for her and they included new outfits, new perfume bottles and accessories.
Vera was stunned. She opened all the gifts. Then, she asked, "Is this because you think I look bad?" Kevin desperately tried to explain. In the midst of his explanation, Vera smiled and said thanks. He, however, didn't notice.
Attempt 42
Kevin spent the whole day using pick-up lines on her.
Kevin: "Are you a magician? Because whenever I look at you, everyone else disappears!"
Vera: "I think you have a medical problem. That's not normal."
--
Kevin: "I'm not a photographer, but I can picture you and me together"
Vera: "Joseph could probably do it better."
--
Kevin: "Do I know you? Cause you look a lot like my next girlfriend."
Vera: "Have you forgotten me? Do you have amnesia?"
--
Kevin: "I seem to have lost my phone number, can I have yours?"
Vera: "We don't have phones."
--
Kevin: "Are you a parking ticket? Because you've got fine written all over you."
Vera: "Wait really? Where?"
--
Kevin: "There's only one thing I want to change about you, and that's your last name~"
Vera: "Rude. I think my last name is good."
--
Kevin: "Can I follow you home? Because my parents always told me to follow my dreams"
Vera: "We both live here."
----
At the end, Kevin was mentally exhausted trying to think of all the pick-up lines.
Attempt 698
Kevin basically became a butler, doing anything and everything he could for her.
Her response: "Do I look incompetent or something?"
ATTEMPT ???
Kevin decided to stay away from her, thinking that she'd realise how much she values his company.
Her response: "Were you trying to avoid me? Thanks, but also, quite rude. I should be doing that, not you."
Kevin had now become a part of the manor life. He didn't know how much time had passed. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to get any closer to her.
'Maybe... maybe I should give up.'
He hated giving up, but this seemed impossible. He had been trying for who-knows-how-long and things were going nowhere. Suddenly feeling very tired, he retired to his room and fell onto the bed. He was about to sleep when there was a knock on his door.
"Now, who could that be?" He grumbled to himself.
He got up and opened the door. The sight outside shocked him. Vera, wearing an outfit he had given her, holding a bouquet of multiple flowers from the garden. She didn't look at him, instead she looked at the ground, her face red.
"U-uhm.. Hi Kevin. Sorry to disturb you.." She paused, her mouth open. Kevin couldn't speak either. He could only stare, dumbfounded.
"T-these are for you." She pushed them into his hands. He gently rested his hands atop hers.
"Is this what I think it is?" He leaned down to whisper in her ear. "Have you fallen for me?"
He had said it, half joking and half hoping he was right. She didn't speak. His heart raced. Usually she would smack him and say something mean like "As if" or "You wish".
But she didn't.
Instead, she nodded slowly.
"Yeah.. I guess I have." She whispered, barely audible. She finally looked up at him. He was stunned. She... liked him?
"Wait, are you serious?" He asked, his voice quiet.
She smiled.
"Yeah. 100%."
They were silent for a moment.
"Do I have to say it for you to believe it?"
Kevin took a while to respond. Smirking, he said, "Yes, you do."
She laughed awkwardly and inhaled, cooling her nerves. She closed her eyes and opened them, confidence shining in her pupils. Leaning in close, she said "I love you"
Kevin smiled. "I love you too."
She closed the gap between them and they kissed.
Kevin's heart exploded in joy.
Thank god he didn't give up.
